I miss Music Row as well. Manny's was my favorite store. I also liked 48th St Custom Guitars. They had great vintage guitars. Speaking of, did that store just shut down, or was it bought and renamed?
Brick and mortar music instrument retail has been circling the drain for a long time, sadly. Fortunately, quality service and repair will always be in demand.
It would be interesting to know what they had to bring in every day in average revenue at this giant Manhattan store location just to break even on their employee and overhead expenses. Now consider keeping dozens of stores like this open nationwide and trying to make a profit too. Yikes! It boggles the mind.
Sad days ahead my friend. Unfortunately most musicians are not rolling in cash. The big manufacturers have gotten too greedy much like the auto industry. The victims are all those faithful people that work for these companies. My dad used to say “ One door closes so another can open up “
Bought my first guitar at sam ash. Sad. Had a positive attachment for me. Miss music row as well. Those were the days

I spent a lot of time and money on 48th Street when I should've been in high school.
I think our paths must have crossed.
Speaking of high school. I used to carry my guitar to high school and play during breaks.

True. although, the tech I spoke with, Matt, said he is going to pursue other career paths. I don’t know him personally. I only met him then.

Yeah, I think it’s impossible, unless you sell groceries.
As a musician (mostly a guitar player) Suno and Udio kinda scare me, honestly, and I think these things are closely related.
I don't think you're alone.
