The hype around this processor is ridiculous. First of all the price per performance is about the same when you factor in the cost for an AM5 motherboard. Eight cores might play games fine now, but just give it a couple years. Already we see games like The Last Of Us Part 1. People with 8 core CPUs were waiting up to an hour just for the shaders to compile before they could play. If you like price per performance, you should buy a 5800x3D or a 13600K. Conclusion: 8 core CPU for $450 in 2023? Yeah, hard pass.

No average person cares about Blender performance. So few games get developed that account for more than 4 cores/threads in multi-threaded performance, because that's not how games processing works, let alone use 16c/32t of them - it's not just more threads more better.. You’re right, 720p may have been a better indicator of CPU performance, but with modern graphics cards at 1080P we don’t see any GPU bottlenecks which would impact measured differences in CPU performance. As say 1440p or 4K would definitely do. But I assume you knew this.

The hype around this processor is ridiculous. First of all the price per performance is about the same when you factor in the cost for an AM5 motherboard. And the 7800x3D gets decimated by the 13900K in anything outside of gaming and not by a measly 4% in a contrived 1080p gaming workload that no one with a $500 cpu games at, by 75-120% in multithreaded and 20% in single threaded.
*cough* a620 motherboard *cough*
Stop trying to post-fact justify your purchase you pseudo-intellectual dumbass.
The price pr. performance is far exceeded by the 7800x3D on pure watts, to dollars, to frames. Unless you're actively working (that is, as your job) with software that is core count and clock favoured, no one benefits from having a $700 253w CPU on a dead platform, over a $550 120w CPU. No average person cares about Blender performance. So few games get developed that account for more than 4 cores/threads in multi-threaded performance, because that's not how games processing works, let alone use 16c/32t of them - it's not just more threads more better..
Get real.
Dead platform and if you’re mainly playing games the x3d is the better deal.
