The intensity of these pentatonic triplets at 0:50-1:17 (and we haven't even gotten started) is simply in-f'n-sane. Once you get to that level you can ramp it up and back it off and there are a TON of options available to him in virtually ANY tune.
One of my all time favorite songs by Jethro Tull.......I have never been able to convince any local band I have ever been in to do it......Joe's remake is very cool!
My favorite JT song of all time. Hands down. Ian should be proud along with Martin, Glen and their most awesome drummer, Clive Bunker. That band morphed with new musicians after the 1st 3 albums, but those 3 are my favorites. Have not heard a cover for this song before. So glad JB did this. BTW, the bass line on this song by Glen Cornick from the original JT album "Stand Up", who some may have never heard, is just absolutely outstanding IN MY OPINION.
Joe Bonamassa is the most underrated singer and guitar player ever. He beats Jimmy page, IMO. #1 on my list. He should be ten times as famous! The ONLY GUITARIST WHO HAS EVER given me goosebumps. He’s unbelievable
If Joe Bonamassa is underrated, then Martin Barre (Jethro Tull's guitarist, who plays on this track originally) is even more so! You should check him out!
You can not compare Jeo and Jimmy, yes I totally agree Joe is a phenomenal super talented technical player but Jimmy was the influencer of many after him he did it all first.
Wow, this did it justice,... a great Tull blues tune from my early years. Joe's a very normal guy... When you are young, you falsely believe that these musicians are gods, unapproachable. When you gain wisdom via age, you discover that they are just like your next door neighbors, the same as you, but they were blessed with stunning drive, determination and talent. Yet they are still just like you are. Never forget this, as they haven't. Remember Joe Walsh's quote, My friends are different, I haven't changed. Bless you Joe B.
I asked him to play this in the foyer of the Webster Theater in Hartford before a show since I am a Tull fan and he said OK. Awesome version. Amazing guitar player and such a friendly guy. Great show. Go see him if you have a chance. You won't regret it.
been a fan of J.B. since Bloodline. saw this show at a dive bar in Phoenix. Mind Blowing !! like what he 's doing now, however this 3 piece is the absolute best ever. U should have been there ...........
Joe's powerful guitar work on this song is sublime, extraterrestrial, spectacular, apotheosis, and a great voice power. A good piece, no doubt. Thank you Joe for your talent, passion on stage, and for enjoying the guitar. You give all of us who admire your music goosebumps.
Boy this reminds me of a show he did back when he was just 16 in Upstate NY. It's hard to believe I've been listening to him for almost 20 years. Such an amazing entertainer!
I love this whole concert😊 I love when they rock the blues up 😂for lack of of trying to keep up with all the different styles and what’s allowed to be mention in these times 😂, JB is a fantastic Guitar-player without-a doubt , and he has the tone I enjoy, some of the players have so much crap 💩 they play through, they should just strap a synthesizer on their back😂 and the player i am referring to is a musician bar none , Play for me out of a good amp and I notice at times when they are not hard wired to amp it can seem like sound is off IMO😊 MR. DEREk TRUCKS IS MY FAVORITE AND IMO BEST EVER , HE FRETS AS GREAT AS ALL THE GREATS, he’s obviously bar none all time GREATEST SLIDE EVER, I wished my Daddy could have witnessed Derek , he loved Chet Imagine what he would experience live feeling TTB 😊he’s so unique and he hears the Bands every note and if he hears something different he snaps right out of his bliss usually with a smile 🎼🎶🎼🎸🥁🎸🎼🎶🎼 sorry thanks for posting this masterpiece 😊
Been watching joe since he played with Danny in 89 knew he was going to be great back then that said this period of time 2007 this group with Eric on bass who is just as good as jb is my favorite period of joe although Royal Albert hall is great too but jb here is just at his best this rockplast concert is gold today jb is different still great but not the same
Make sure you are on time for Joe's shows..... if the ticket says 8pm.....he will ring out the first note at 8pm Sharp !!!!! Sure hope he tours in the states with Beth Hart soon ...what a double bill !!!!!
In my opinion, one of the greatest guitar players of all time. And he will be only 40 years old on May 8th, 2017. So, we can wait for more, much more.....
RPG 808 well, first, it was a fantastic show, absolutely a great little venue, but quite different. He actually had his recording studio band as vs the "Tour de Force" lineup, which was my favorite (Tal Bergman, Carmine Rojas, Lenny Castro, Arlen Shierbaum), the sound was amazing, Joe was amazing as always, but a much more polished, thought out sound (especially compared to the video, which was what - 2005 or so? And not as much blues standards oriented. Admittedly I hit the game late. The first I heard of Joe was when I saw a RUclips video of him playing with Ian Anderson (my all time hero), then soon after came the PBS coverage of the London Sessions. I never got to witness the "raw" early style in real time or live, which I really regret, because of the raw POWER! holy crap. But let's face it, I could listen to the man play a rubber band while singing a grocery list, ya know? G
Not long after this tour JB dissolvethis Band he made his mind up these two guys with him were way too good for him. I just wish Eric and the drummer whose name for the life of me I can’t remember stay together because what a rhythm section.
Without doubt the best band that JB had and the best era of his music.
totaly agree !
I'm with you guys. His power trio was the best imo.
This is prime JB imo, no fanzy orchestra and stuff, just raw power!!!!

Definitely one of their very best tracks!!
I saw Joe on this tour with Eric on bass and he, in my mind totally stole the show.
Love Eric's bass runs
His soundijustawesomisntittonandtimbrepowerjutasoneoffasjoe
One of the best bass players I have ever listen to...
Nice to hear the Tull classic get the Bonamassa treatment.
Bought this DVD. In my opinion, one of Joe's finest live shows. Eric Czar brilliant on base also. Love it.
love it
I agree, best lineup ever, no trio can match the talent here! I bought the DVD too!
...bass... just sayin'

They were at their peak powers with this lineup, love the bass playing👍.
love to hear Ian Anderson play with this trio, doing all the stuff from the first three Tull albums.
Absolutely amazing... Outstanding version of this classic Jethro Tull tune... Just nailed it..
I asked him to play this in the foyer of the Webster Theater in Hartford before a show since I am a Tull fan and he said OK. Awesome version. Amazing guitar player and such a friendly guy. Great show. Go see him if you have a chance. You won't regret it.

I just love how even a three piece can sound big
GOLD! Joe Bonamassa is ONE OF THE BEST people that ever picked up a guitar! A savant! Holy cow! See you March 11, Joe! This made my day!!!!!!!
been a fan of J.B. since Bloodline. saw this show at a dive bar in Phoenix. Mind Blowing !! like what he 's doing now, however this 3 piece is the absolute best ever. U should have been there ...........

Good god that bass playing
Young Joe Bonamassa!
Bonamassa is quite a discovery for me too in recent years - just phenomenal (no exaggeration!) ...
This is the best guitar tone joes ever had in my opinion
It's definitely in my top 5
Boy this reminds me of a show he did back when he was just 16 in Upstate NY. It's hard to believe I've been listening to him for almost 20 years. Such an amazing entertainer!

It made my day watching and listening to this performance... Thanks Joe and distinguished accompanying musicians.
Impresionante versión de un tema sublime! Gracias Joe!!!!
Best version of this song ever
There are no "best" versions. It's your favorite version because it's your OPINION.
Tull's version is still superior and Martin Barres got more soul and feel in his solos than Joes.
Martin Barre formerly of Jethro Tull WOULD BE PROUD of Joe's guitar work on A NEW DAY YESTERDAY!!!
I wonder of Martin has heard this???
In my opinion, one of the greatest guitar players of all time. And he will be only 40 years old on May 8th, 2017. So, we can wait for more, much more.....
Still kicking my ass!!!
love his tone here!!
Love this rockin version.
Awesome cover! Does great justice to Tull.
Joe is the best !
Great song !
FANTASTIC TRIO!!!!
In the tradition of Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page there is no doubt in my mind that Joe Bonamassa is the next Guitar God !!! Plus he can really sing !!!!!
Alguém do Brasil aqui prestigiando esse vídeo formidável? Greetings from Brazil Joe!
One of the best things I've seen in my fucking life
Bonamassa asserts his dominance....
They performed very nicely.
seeing him 4.29.16 in Reno! very excited. I got stuck with an extra ticket as well, if anyone is interested and in the area.

I wish 2016 joe was half as good this.. this is just beyond great!
Sadly.....lost his balls and sold out.
This looks like a real life level of guitar hero. 10/10
Best song of Jethro Tull!!
I just love Tulls version. Clive Bunkers drumming makes it come alive for me
Love Clive. But his friend and substitute… my God!
Simply great, great, great.
Jak zwykle - doskonałe 🎸!!!
Owww Joe !!! Awesome !! come to Brazil !!!
Is that you there Mr. Jeffrey Hammond - Hammond? Nice version of this old tune...
Wow !
Eric Clapton, move over....the new God is here!! Ty Joe for the good vibes in the Ks😎😎😎
Amazing tight sound. It seems that there is at least an orchestra on stage)
Smokin!
SUPER!!

Awesome!!!!!!
Interesting, we've been experimenting with what to do around the solos, this simplified rhythm seems to work well.
J'adore!
Utterly brilliant Joe!!! Like like like :-)
Like this song!
This and Had to cry today the best. Still my favourite Joe performance even though ive since seen him live. Kicks arse.
Thanks Joe .. You are one cool dude ... ( for want of better words ) ... gus
