- Check out some of the top must see aircraft here at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force!
The National Museum of the United States Air Force collects, researches, conserves, interprets and presents the Air Force's history, heritage and traditions, as well as today's mission to fly, fight and win ... airpower anytime, anywhere to a global audience through engaging exhibits, educational outreach, special programs, and the stewardship of the national historic collection. These statutory duties delegated by the Secretary of the Air Force are accomplished on behalf of the American people. We are the keepers of their stories.
Having been to the NMUSAF multiple times in my life, I don't think there is one single aircraft or exhibit that I can say is an absolute "must see" item. The entire museum should be a "bucket list" item for any aviation, space or history fan.
This museum is right on the cusp of being a 2-day visit to see everything. Which is a very good thing.
This is a museum that you can take someone with no interest in airplanes and doesn’t like museums.
And they will be glad they came.
It is just so well done.
Thank you for that, sure is true!
The B-58."cowtown hustler " won the Bendix AND Bleriot trophies.
I need to find somebody to go visit again with.....I only live a couple hours from Dayton, but I lost my buddy/mentor/fellow vet and aviation nerd a few years back.
My Missus, bless her, loves a tent and a National Forest, but will never drool over Century Series fighter, or get a lump in her throat when near a B-17, like I do.
Greatest museum in America.
I’m waiting for the restoration of the swoose goose! Now that’s an old warbird that I want a long close look at since it the only surviving early B-17 that I’m aware of.
Last time I was at the Museum was 2014 and the Memphis Belle was still in pieces in the restoration center. I’ve been wanting to go back for years. The best military aviation museum in the world. And it’s free, worth every minute you will spend there. Plan for 2 days,it’s that big.
Walking into the museum is like walking into a toy store. I bounce from one cool thing to another. Lol
By must see aircraft, you mean all of them. They are all must see.
The B-29 Bockscar. Dropped the second atomic bomb. This plane ended WWII.
Honestly i go to the NMUSAF museum so much it’s basically a pilgrimage
My personal top 5 list: Hanoi Taxi, Robin Olds SCAT XXVII, Bockscar, the SPAD XIII painted as Eddie Rickenbacker's SPAD, and finally the two F-4s (RF-4C Recce & F-4G Wild Weasel) from my unit in Desert Storm, 35th Tac Fighter Wing (Provisional).
Please do a video of the B-66
All are great aircraft.2 of my favorites are b17 and the blackbird
Apollo 15?
I want to see the relics from the lady be good B-24 bomber. The One that went down in the desert in 1943. Did You get to see that?
I highly doubt this but will you add the F-35 soon? it would be great to see. And maybe in 20ish years, would you add the B-21?
Box Car!!!!
I hate to disagree with you, but all the aircraft at this great museum are must see....I visited close to a dozen times and have thouroly enjoyed each visit. Tax money well spent!
