Its difficult to believe it's been six years since I started the online program and studied with Ben, now I'm a full time artist/instructor who uses the Reilly method every time I draw!
Elite content for free. There’s no words enough on my vocabulary to thank you guys as much as I want. Jeff is a master. There’s nothing like him in the world!
A lot of people take Jeff's ability to teach and draw/paint at the same time for granted. I got his books recently (female figure/Bridgman) and they are phenomenal. I can't believe I've been putting off learning from this guy.
8:30 smooth newsprint is so nice to draw on. For other grainy papers, I’ve found using a soft mop brush with soft charcoal or even the conte pencils works really nicely. Kind of like Zin Lim style.
Hey Jeff love your work dude. Also regarding what archival paper is similar to newsprint. I find the strathmore “toned” paper is very similar. You’ve probably already tried, but if not give it a go. ❤😊
One of the things I find on You Tube with so many talented artist, and now you, They never, and now [[ you ]] don't explain how [[[FIRST]]] YOU establish the drawing on paper then they start to model the portrait or anything else. You can't build a house without a blueprint. I just this second discovered your video, you have a incredible layout of your Santa, tell us how did you first establish the drawing? With photo realist artist you can see there graph layout very lightly. I am a artist and I show everything. I will take a photo etc. take charcoal I like a soft pencil tone shade the back of the photo then trace with a hard pencil on the face the portrait, the outline eyes, nose etc. I have my blue print and with stomps I do the shading, I also use brushes to tone and shade the art that I create.
