For those who don't have Polyester cotton, I would also recommend using plastic bags, I have been using it for quite some time and it's really good!
Yeah but when u squish or more it gets a bit flat
Yes I’ve been using those and it really is a great way to do it although it can get stuck to the tape when you’re putting it in

You can also make it with shopper bag cut it into pieces and put into your drawing like apple frog....

I usually use sponges or paper- shredded paper, they both are great! Sponges are like Polyester cotton but you will most likely have it!
This helps alot! I have only 3 scrunchies cause i mostly use hair ties (like the thinner ones if you know what i mean) so i don’t mind using one for my squishy!!
But..
You can also use ~ tissue (make sure to leave some air not too much tho a less than half or so) or food wrappers! (It might sound a bit gross or just weird but it isn’t too bad!)

for the paper method, i recommend just using crumbled up paper! it works well and i made a few squishes using it. try it out!

Another method is using plastic bags, I use it all the time because the squish is really good and it prevent less plastic going in the trash!
My favorite method was the sponge it worked perfectly

edit: what tape do you use?
i used packaging/duct tape for making the picture part of the squishy and just any clear tape(including packaging tape) to seal it up

another alternative I use is just fluffy yarn! i have lots of scraps and rolls of it so I just use that. (cotton balls work too!)
