A well deserved win thanks to an innovative strategy Tom has kept under the radar for a long time. When I lost to him in the last round of Swiss I knew he was gonna go all the way.
Seems like the Edison Format got also some attention now besides the Goat format. Sounds neat. Norleras turbo from that era as a next CBC deck for the upper part?
While Goat is still fun in my opinion, it does get kinda stale. Over the years the metagame has shifted to almost exclusively Chaos variants and even though there are a few rogue options like Earthbox, Dimension Fusion, Panda etc, if you play Chaos mirrors most of the time the game gets really stale. Edison has a massive deck variety, hence why it surpassed Goat in popularity.
@@RyanAtlus no offense, but what did u expect from Goat format? That was literally the metagame from back in the days Also ur 2nd point is debatable bc that always depends on opinions, however Goat Format was played for years as a alternative format - even in the Edison format
@@musiyevonchilla6769 Well its called goat format, but goat control is dated. The format is 99% solved. Warrior toolbox loaded with dustshoots and solemns and chaos biulds are objectively the best. Edison has plenty of room for innovation due to the low ceiling and deck-specificity of the "power cards," while there is also enough of an archtype card pool to make triangle-style matchups exists. Ex: currently diva hero, blackwing, and fairy are 3 of the top decks, but they all have good matchups into eachother. And there are plenty of other tier 1-1.5 decks that also have objectively good matchups and top the bigger online tournaments, allowing for meta shifts in the format Edit: To add to this, the noreleras deck shown in the video really isn't popular at all, and is objectively tier 2-3. But it was a really good metacall for the tournament.
Edison is solved as well, Vayu and Blackwings are objectively tier 0 decks. If you want actual GOOD formats with diversity you should play HAT or Tengu Plant format @@Gingerillaz
So many fun versatile decks and combos. Any quote on quote mid tier deck can get first at a major. And so many different ways to play the same engines. Like machina for example, there's like 5 decks or more that use the gearframe fortress engine. You can get creative putting engines together whereas nowadays everything is prebuilt which is no fun.
@acousticplayer3 Yeah I'm a big Machina fan and the deck in modern format is a bit slow but in Edison format it's a lot of fun and with a good resource management you can beat any top tier deck like you said. Also X Sabers are fun, so many cool decks
Edison is inferior to HAT, Tengu Plant, Dino Rabbit, Vegas, Shaddoll and TOSS format. Edison is better than advanced but is the weakest retro format by far.
i was wondering how in the hell he gets norleras onto the field then completely overlooked phantom of chaos effect to copy any monsters effect it removes from the grave
Really suprised that he won a 11 round tournament with this deck. To me, it does not look very consistent with all those potential bricks and >40 cards in the main. I am also suprised because this deck looks super vulnerable to the likes of herald of the orange light, war chariot, or dd crow. Not to mention cards like kycoo, shadow imprisoning mirror, consecrated light, skill drain, dimensional fissure etc. post side. Will be interesting to see whether we will see this deck winning more tournaments.
@@999spot5 There is much draw power, but you also have to find the targets for trade in/ recharge (6/8) in 44 cards. In addition, I dont know where the control game plan of the deck is coming from. Set ryko, normal trooper or special armed wing is, without any real follow-up or simplifying the gamestate with norleras, not that amazing, even for edison standards. There is a reason why this deck was never really popular in the community but I guess it worked out for him.
Congrats to him, but I've been looking for a modern version of this but can't seem to find it anywhere. Thought this guy had figured it out. Nonetheless, congrats to him for getting 1st place.
Is it just me or is making Silverwind impossible in this? Vayu cant be used as a tuner on the field and there are no other blackwing tuners, and the levels don't line up to only make him with Blackwings
@tsuchit5646 yeah I actually realized later because Vayu says "special summon" and not "synchro summon" you don't need two non-tuners in this case. I love unintuitive yugioh rulings
I preffer only 3 spellcards burial from dif dimension, monster reincarnation and card destruction, then add mezuki at 3 and il blud at 1 to abuse from plague eff. And mill all deck
10-1 Norleas Turbo in an Edison Format? Geez. Deck is kinda wack with Dark Creator and Vayu, Lightsworn enables lots of plays for the Dark Monsters and the Mill cards really helps the deck.

Wild brew, i love it!
force of the breaker moment
Man, man, a lot of cards I grew up with in the day when Dark Armed was introduced. The price of the cards back then 😢😢😢 congrats to your friend
No Brain Control, Torrential Tribute or Trap Dustshoot is actually nuts ngl
Didn't know edison even had tournaments anymore. Nice
It had a lot of small ones and a Big regional in Utrecht:)
It's as big as it has ever been.
more edison decklist pls!
Tom the Legend tubbax
And this Ladies and Gentlemen shows, that alternative Formats can be fun and cheap! 👏🏻😁
That blackwing engine reminds me of the one I made up back in the day like 10 - 12, shits nuts

so much draw power and it has multiple engines it can pivot into to that can function as midrange/control

The Lithium content we neeeeeed
I remember playing this back in the day!!!!!
I like this build but I also like the red eyes/ dark Horus engine
I got owned by Norleras Turbo at German Nationals - it's really not fun at all to lose all cards turn 1 😅
Really cool and creative deck
that alt art stardust 😢
this deck is sick

>garnet in an edison deck
Yup that 2023 mentality that wouldnt exist in 2010.
Gem-knight fusion really was revolutionary to deck building
brilliant fusion*
wonder what his matchups were. it's an insanely cool deck but i feel like it would have a tough time against something super resilient like glad beast
I barely saw anyone playing Glad Beast in the event, just 1 guy? Don't think he topped.
Glad Beasts are not good lol
@@RyanAtlus Finally 5-3 with Glad beast.
Sick deck. Def consider trying deck devastation virus for the side. Can be an absolute blowout vs some decks
Do you now what time rules they used? and if they used priority or not?
New time rules and other policies (like double sleeving being allowed) old game mechanics like old priority and t1 draw.

i dont understand, he said you can vayu under royal oppression, doesnt royal oppression just negate vayu's eff?
Not once per turn, just do it again
Oppression does negate Vayu. But vayu remains in GY. So vayu can just activate again
How does he summon norlenas without fairies?
He doesnt, read Phantom of chaos 😄
