Hmm, I’d disagree with the final point. If you play a pro, you may need to shoot riskier shots to not allow your opponent to come the the table. If you’re playing a lower skill level player, the decision making to give you the most likely outcome to win is possibly to play more safeties. I think you should play to whatever style/aggressiveness will most likely result in a win rather than play like you’re playing against SVB every match
Worth noting Chris... rack 2, you made a subtle smart shot on your last stripe. Slight over-draw to the middle of the table to prevent having to reach or use the bridge. Important for "less tall" people.
As someone who has shot APA and Bush league before it goin on 25 years now, I have found that "planning" is a very much double edged sword that can if you try to plan too far in game ahead leave you frustrated and distracted if you miss more than 1 shot against a player who does not, thus pushing you far into a mind hole that is not always recoverable. Instead I try to as Bruce said to Be like water, plan 1 possibly 2 shots ahead and realize I cannot control what my opponnent may or may not do.
I am captain of a team that has some new players. Trying to get them to understand that logic is hard. How can I get thru to them that trouble balls need to be dealt with. They seem to think look at me I made four balls in a row now I’m stuck help me. With a three you can stop them and save a coach for later.
This concept is important in 9 ball too. I see 4's and 5's pot balls when their next ball is tied up with low probability of a breakout. The result being, they get their one point, get forced to break out the next ball and sell out the rest of the rack. Maybe you have some 9 ball video's to demonstrate this as well Chris?
Thanks Chris, I find these so informational for pattern play. I do find myself trying to be to bold of a shooter and lose games for it. more often than not I should have done something safe.
Hey Chris i was once on the 8. I picked up the Cue Ball and placed it in front of the 8 and shot it in...Everyone was just stunned I actually didnt even realize i did it..I guess for once brief moment i thought it was in a practice session...
Hey Chris, I enjoy your content for the most part. I would like to continue watching the videos, but PLEASE invest in a better mic, possibly an EQ, and most definitely an audio compressor. When you get excited while narrating, it is a great difference in db levels. Again- I enjoy the content, you obviously do quite a bit of research, so I’m not trying to be critical- I just want to be able to listen with out so much high end and level changes. Keep up the good work, cheers
In a future video can you show some examples of safeties when they have 7 balls and you have 4. I find it hard to see any good positions when they have all options left. Great informative video.
beubg a 4 years back in Tournaments use to have lower handicapped say how lucky after a win of match , anything can be say throw off your game , playing against a 2 can be tough
Thanks for this video. Regarding the don't try part, could you help me work through approaching this situation: I don't necessarily se a way out, but I know there are more balls on the table than I can consistently run without losing position? I try to just pocket some and then do a safety, but I find pace control to be so much harder on safeties so I end up just leaving my opponent in the perfect poisition.
That’s generally the right idea on strategy. Sometimes a safety doesn’t have to be completely hooking your opponent. Sometimes you can try to to block a pocket, or even try to force your opponent to shoot at a ball you want them to shoot at
12:00 The problem with agreeing to call pocket is that anyone (I believe) can later renege on the agreement. Yes, it is dirty trick, but it does happen. As a policy, I always mark the pocket even though, as long as I hear it, I may allow my opponent to call pocket. I personaly would not renege on the agreement, but I don't trust others enough to do the same courtesy.
I'm a 3. It is very rare I will run out. Also my opponents at the same skill level will usually move a lot of balls on the table unplanned, which makes my "plans" a dream rather than a reality. But one day I like to believe I WILL get 8 balls in a row.
I shoot with a Predator Blak4-5 with a 12.9mm Revo shaft. I don’t know of a carbon fiber cue below $300. The closest to that would be Jflowers. I’ve reviewed and given away 2 of their cues: ruclips.net/video/vKT2HeUbfic/видео.html ruclips.net/video/eyMbTuRPx48/видео.html For the price, they’re not bad cues.
To answer your early question about "go for the win or just try not to foul", at my skill level, I'm certainly in the latter camp. I shoot a LOT of shots just hoping not to give up ball in hand.
Hey Chris Hope l hope all is well with You !! Hey Chris Predator came out with a. New Cue It's called the Predator Aspire . It only cost like $385.00 - $400.00 . I couldn't believe it lol 🤣
Good video! Beginning to realize how I’ve been giving games away trying to run out, and failing. Makes it easy for opponent to win.
Great shooting Chris. He definitely did the my shot kicking at the 8 ball. He almost even made it. Congrats on the win 💪🤩👍.
I needed this video. My vision and shot has gotten so good recently but I've forgotten that I need to play defense.

I agree with this. Against a 2/3/4 I would tuck behind the 5 and challenge them to run out. Against a 5/6/7 I play the two rail kick for the win.
I really like the way you comment on all the shots. Lots of great advice on this video. Keep up the good work
I hope that opponent has the nickname The Serial Killer as he stabs EVERYTHING. ☠️
Is nice to watch your APA matches Chris love your content 💯🙌

These APA vids are fantastic, thank you.

I'm Trying to Perfect that Break Chris .. Can you do a More Detail Video on that Break .. Where to hit the cue ball , Stance and Stroke ?

Excellent advice
I'd play a safety with ball in hand I'd knock the 4 down table by 3 an 7 for a breakout ball while cue ball sits behind 3 7 and 2

I have a couple of older 9-Ball APA matches. In my APA Pool Leagues playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLUWQL7QKHnvnkg4PSOxdPg0YLRvzSqkXx

First rack, my opinion. 3,1,4,2,7,5. If short (or long) on the 1, the combo is available.
My father always said don't run to many if you can not run them all

I always look over the table before i take every shot to see a run out or a run to play defense to get ball in hand to run out.....
Nice Pop and Squat Break !!
Love the videos but I find I have to crank the volume all the way up to hear it

6:00 Safety is not a bad option if you cannot run out. It is better that selling out.
10:00 I would do a safety on that 8.

I thought I watched this live stream before. LOL
I'm confident in my stroke and ability I would have spin around the 3 with a mass

Rack one he should have followed the ten to break out the 14. He played a stop shot and that blew his run.
What brand of carbon fiber cue do you use and what is the best brand of carbon fiber cue under $300?
I shoot with a Predator Blak4-5 with a 12.9mm Revo shaft.

I'd start with the 3 as well or the 4 as they're your problem balls and should be addressed as soon as possible.
What's your idea about high english on break following thru for 2 breaks
Doable, but not necessary
Your Opponent is Popping up and Not staying Down on his Shoots and rushing ..
Certain players are another players Kryptonite. They can beat everyone they play except that one person.
What size tables are these? They look small on screen.
This league is played on 7ft tables
Thanks. I think ive only seen one 7 foot table in my life. Everything around here are 8' or 9'. Although they aren't the quality of a Diamond though.
I don't worry till I get to that point, you had too many balls on table to let him run

Rack 2 ur opponent scooped/jumped the cue ball up from the bottom. Isn't that a foul/illegal hit.
That was accidental and not considered a foul. If it was intentional as to jump over an imposing ball, it would be a foul.
hit 8 ball just enough to hit rail and kiss game goodbye

I apologize spell check ur shot, not the other
I think that's terrible advice, you don't ever see reyes having makeable balls, and playing safety because couple balls hung up
You also don’t see amateurs that have the same kind of control and skill as Efren either, so you’re really making an unfair comparison
First one here!
