Having both hands available in the cockpit is essential, and if one is tied up by holding a flashlight that light will inevitably end up in your mouth. The Flight Gear Bite Light was specifically designed to solve this problem, with a silicone ring on the back for just such occasions.
The unique features don't stop there, because pilots have a very specific set of requirements when it comes to flashlights. We need a bright white light for preflight and a soft red light for preserving night vision. Having independent switches for each color of light is essential, as it would defeat the purpose if you have to scroll through the white light to get to the red light. The Flight Gear Bite Light checks all these boxes and more.

I agree with Bobbyboucher9814 and I think most pilots prefer a hands-free light. Putting a flashlight in your mouth has many disadvantages and doesn't allow coherent radio calls. Some pilots prefer the microphone lip light but this can chaff your lips. This video highlights a product that has two good features. It can be easily recharged and you can select the desired light color/intensity quickly. What I would like to see is a headlamp that has two colors, red and white, with two intensities. For those who like hand-held flashlights, my only negative comment about this hand-held flashlight is the high cost.

I’ll start by saying I have all kinds of Flight Gear equipment and it’s never failed me. As for the light topic, I use headlamps which I understand some people don’t like due to the pressure they impose on your head BUT something I would recommend to upgrade the flight gear lights with are additional colors. The headlamp I use has white, red, blue and green lights. Virtually every student I’ve shown it to has switched to a light with at least one of those additional colors. An additional feature of the one I have is all the different colors are dimmable. At full power, they are excessively bright and I can turn them down to almost imperceptible levels. The only time I run any of them at full power is during preflight.

I prefer lip light. They attach to the mic boom and activated using one’s lips.

Nope. Ain't chewing on a dirty flashlight.
I wear a light from a company called Anywear that you hang around your neck. The lights are positional and are independently switched. I have a red filter (red translucent tape) one side.
