yes we do! I'm transitioning into a psych nursing career from corporate healthcare and I can barely find videos on RUclips about this speciality. I'm happy you are feeding us info!
New grad RN here 👋🏽 I'm starting this week on an inpatient acute psych floor! I hope to eventually move on to IOP or fully outpatient 😊 glad there's so much to do as a psych nurse + a rising interest in psych nursing in general!
New Grad here. I have also just accepted a position in the psych unit at my local hospital. I struggled with thinking I should have med/surg experience but I know with all my heart that this is my field so I am going for it.
@@davisrodney2514 I’m sorry for your plight my friend but i was once in your shoes before i was recommended to Mrs Jessica and that's how i passed Nclex.
I'm starting at a State Hospital as a new grad psych nurse this month! It's a unit for people deemed unfit to stand trial or unfit to be regular prison population.
Hi Danielle, This question is not very much related to the topic of this video but I wanted to put it here so u see it. I am currently a senior bio major who plans on entering an accelerated nursing program. I however am unsure if I should enter the accelerated masters or bachelors. The masters is an advanced generalist masters so you do not necessarily pick a concentration. I also currently am unsure what I want to do in nursing but nurse leadership currently is what I am looking at. Please let me know ur opinion on what I should do. Thank u for your information videos keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! Great question, I think it’s best to figure out which is best for you as far as length of program, cost of school, and ultimate goal in healthcare is. If you don’t know what your ultimate goal is the Accelerated BSN is cool. You’ll sometimes save money and time by getting a second bachelors. You’ll get to explore specialties in nursing too. You can do it with a nurse leadership masters as well but one thing about the nurse leadership concentration is that it is usually said to not have much use in practice. At least, not in the same way as a clinical nurse specialist. You can also find other accelerated masters that offer other concentrations like nursing education or healthcare admin.
@@TheDanielleDenise Thank you for your input. So basically do you think it would be better for me to get my accelerated bachelors degree and then enter a traditional masters program after a year or 2 of working or would it be better to do the accelerated masters degree, work for a year, and then do a post masters certificate? My thinking with the masters was that at least I will be half way there if I want to specialize in something since I would only have to do the certificate. I have heard it is hard to go back to school once you are out.
Very helpful video! I recently became licensed RN with a background in psych (Bachelors), would you recommend me getting experience in Med/Surg 1st or sticking with Psych if that’s my long term plan?
Hey I’m a new Grad CNA at this particular moment. I’m currently enrolled in school taking my prerequisites I was wondering if I can start from CNA? How do I make my way into this specialty? It’s different trying to find information about it .
Im in Medical ICU as a student in Immersion (10 12 hr shift before graduating) and I am about to graduate but I think I am going to try out psych because I feel like there is more assessment depth than with Medical ICU. Plus most of my patient are just laying there and Im just draining their urine changing them and I dont get to talk to them Im a talker lol
Was ur RN program accelerated and intense? If so how did u pull through. Was it doable? And how many classes per semester weeks? Accelerated RN are scary
These are such great questions, Im definitely going to have to finish my video on this. It is very challenging but with determination and discipline i think its achievable.
I am doing that now! I have an bachelors degree in psychology. Our communities need it. I’ve worked in the field for years and so much go on in the field I do not agree with. It’s a great way to advocate and truly make a difference. Being a provider is the goal and in my personal opinion where a difference can be made
Forensic....or, Correctional Nurse. Prison, Jail. Maximum or Medium Security. Take care of yourself. Just sayin' 😁 I'm now a Crisis Nurse and ED Mental Behavioral Nurse.
I made it through her too, she works with the national al council of states board of nursing NCSBN as an I.T engineer for the board data mrs Jennifer thank you
I am a living testimony of Mrs Jennifer, she has helped me achieve my dream of becoming a licensed nurse, i encourage those who find it difficult to pass the Nclex exams to work with her and thank me later
After seeing how evil some of these people are and what they do behind the scenes I could never look at sociopathy the same again some of the workers should be commuted but good luck in your journey ❤

Whether you're interested or just curious to know where psych nurses work this is the video for you!! It's not so simple as "on a psych unit" lol

I already pass my exam, I'm officially a nurse 🍕👩🎓, for all the failed text takers don't be discouraged keep studying you will pass.
You will pass everyone has their own season, just keep going pray and believe you will receive.
I failed 3 times, i lost money to scams and reviews that never helped but the major thing is that I've not lost hope.
Congratulations, I will soon gonna write my exam, I tap your good lucky passing.... hahaha

I used some Uworld, some Remar, and read a lil saunders. I did 3 nurse achieve exams and my result came back failed .
Yass! Teach the world about our profession! New subbie!

Awesome video! After having worked in all of these settings I would say that outpatient can be just as acute as any of the other units!
that's true. especially in the Er I believe any nurse can pick up a shift from the psych unit. especially those nights shift. I never saw them work.
What are the challenges and what are the specific tasks that you do in the psych nurse world?
loce the intro to your videos hope you have keep it as a signature
Thank you !
Such a great video as always 👍🏾👏🏾🤗
Hi! i have a question do I need to study another Master's degree after my Direct Entry Master in Nursing to be a Psych Nurse?

I've heard a lot of psych nurses on RUclips say that it's a myth that you need med/surg first.

What made you choose to be a psych nurse over like a psych PA? I’m interested in both. But I feel like I’m leaning more towards physican assistant
Very informative

can i get my bachelors in college for psychology then take a accelerated nursing program ? to be a psych nurse ?
That is a long way around... Psychology and Psychiatry are different. Better to get the RN or LPN/LVN then get a job in psych...
