Lavoro eccellente, tanta ammirazione per quelli che riparano questa tipologia di ascensori.

Many thanks for sharing this. I follow a lot of machining content here but have never seen anything like this. Is this kind of "in-place" work common when dealing with elevator machinery? (Also, neat to see something from Chicago. I'm up in Rogers Park.)

      Thank you!
This kind of work is required in specific circumstances - when it's hard to remove the elevator sheave, for example, to be worked on in the machine shop.
Most of the sheaves are machined in a machine shop, where one has all the tools and space to complete the job. Sometimes a job on the job site is more economically and physically feasible.
In order to machine on the job site, we usually create a unique tool for the specific job, depending on how much space there is around the machine, how worn out the shaft/bearing seat is, etc.
It is always case to case evaluation.
And for us it is always an honor to have the opportunity to work on these iconic sites in our beautiful city.
