Getting started with your first MRTK3 project

    I have been struggling for the past week to try to get WMR working in Unity without success. I have tried following several videos, mostly for MRTK 2 and now I decided to try MRTK3 hoping for better luck. In every case there always seems to be either some point of departure between what I see on the video and what I see in reality, or as in this video it is targeted for Hololens rather than a VR headset such as I have.
    I also tried the Unity guide and the Microsoft guide but no luck with any of them.
    In many case I get no VR at all, meaning the headset doesn't activate when I run the game and if I am already in VR such as in the cliff house, the game just runs on the desk top anyway even though I am in VR, so at best I can see it on a virtual desktop in VR.
    In some other cases VR gets activated, meaning there is that intro effect of when a VR game is launched from the cliff house, then it is dark for a couple of seconds and then it exits VR again back to the cliff house.
    I managed to get an MRTK2 barely working but with something terribly wrong with the graphics. If I stand still it is OK but as soon as I move my head everything turns into jelly until I stop moving.
    I really cannot understand why it is proving so difficult to set up.
    Is there some video or other guide that actually works in getting a new Unity to work with a WMR headset?
    Years ago when WMR first came out I had managed quite easily to make projects with it. I still can but have to use old versions of unity because somewhere around version 2018 or 2019 the MRTK package I had downloaded back then doesn't work anymore, and incidentally seems not even available for download any more. Fortunately I still have the package file available and can get it to work but only with a very old version of Unity.

    Super helpful to get started and better understand the set up of the project. However following these steps with Unity 2021.3.23 and MRTK3 I had errors where the button would click in the game tab, but once I introduced the hand (via the left shift button) it would not select the button. Searching for a solution now :)

    Hi Microsoft Developer RUclips Channel, I am having trouble getting the CanvasSlider to show up visually. I tried to find documentation for it but it was barely available, and what was available did not guide me on how to make it visible. How, with the CanvasSliderVisuals script, can I make the slider visible? For the script, 3 variables show up. They're called Handle, Track Area, and Fill Visual, and I don't know what to select for those fields.

    Directions are absolutely horrific online and none of this stuff compiles!
