Reputation of ESC is really bad. It's a good stepping stone for bands that are about to start their career, but rarely brings anything for those who have been around scene for a long time. In addition that most of the songs are garbage (Especially from those who are guaranteed to get to the finals. In addition it kinda defeats the purpose of song contest.) and it's mixed with politics, and voting for your neighboring countries.
It`s surely Heavy Metal. Metal music is the most listened genre in here than in any country. ( Sweden was the second if I recall right). This also the only country where metal music is mainstream. I didn´t even know these things before I watched a document about finnish metal music.

nah, it is pretty much the default glam rock sound. that is how it sounded in 80's and it sounds pretty much the same now. Not much more popsier that it was back in the day :D
