My Dad had the original, but changed that for the higher powered one in the advert. After 2 weeks of Scottish rain, about 1961 or 62 we took it via Silver City Bristl Super Freighter from Lydd to France. Dad took to Switzerland, over the Gotthard Pass to Italy, and back via the South of France to Calais. For the several after we explored Western Europe, usually ending up at Interlaken in Switzerland. Oh Happy Days !!
In my opinion best video you have ever done Alan and what a beautiful fantastic camper van and what an amazing investment at a thousand times increase in value thank you very much for doing this video Alan
In the early 60’s when I was at secondary school a female science teacher owned a dormobile similar to this, this was at a time when few teachers owned any sort of vehicle but her husband was a scientist at a nearby Atomic Weapons Establishment Foulness Island.
I bought one of these in Scotland in 1991 and regret selling it still. Before the Internet I found spares hard to source for my 1969 model. HSO 14G was the reg
@@VanlifewithAlan Hi Alan, yes the steering was a bit heavy 😀. Not helped by the fact it had an 1800cc Sherpa petrol engine shoe horned in. Some of the front passenger footwell was altered to accommodate the air filter then boxed over. A shame the original engine was swapped. It still had the original column change gear ⚙️ stick, but disconnected
Nice to look back at what was in use before, this car is so ugly that I like it, it is so special to make it hard to finish seeing. Everything is different, I liked this car a lot, even so especially the disign it has, nice video.

Great comment - I like to see things like this, makes me feel doing the video is worthwhile!
What memories you have.
I want this! I can't believe there was a car that opened the roof and expanded the interior space!
62 years old now!
Well that was a surprising surprise wasn't expecting a classic camper 😂😁😀😃
I do my best to change things around a bit. Tomorrow back to new vehicles as usual!
magnifique, splendide, superbe ...... les mots me manque. nous, nous en retapons un de 1983
I past my driving test in on of these bt the van version when i worked for the coop, no heater, optional extra apparently, 😁👍
These beauties even had a toilet and tub. This is more me.
October that's a bit late for summer, don't get crushed in the rush 😁😀😂😁😀

What a retro gem to find. Classic camping simplicity. :)

Was it easy to steer?

1000 times more cool then these overpriced VW vans.
"0 to 50 in less than two weeks " Not your typical Sachi & Sachi approach 😈
I thought it was quite a good one. Like the one in the earlier video about attendance at the Newcastle matches!
Keep a few cans of Holts Tyreweld in case of punctures.
Quite means completely
So much of a better van than the VW.

How much did it sell for please?
I don't know, I did not follow it!
From the research I have done over 50 thousand pounds and increase of a thousand per cent from new
He sound like a typical car salesman
Only I am not a salesperson.
