Then become an educator. Why are there not more black n brown teachers? As a retired Hispanic teacher of 25 years, usually in college /University I was the one brown face.in the entire college class over and over for 6 years of study. I use to wonder why that was. Can't complain unless your doing your part to change it and fix what you see as being wrong. Action with an Education is the KEY. Complaining does nothing but keep you in the same spot. 📚📖
@VictoriaRodriguez-by3fs the real question is why is a latino so obsessed with black culture and history? You need to help ur ppl to stop cutting grass and selling fajitas. Go look up ALL OF THE SUCCESSFUL HBCU SCHOOLS 😂🎉
The problem is that we have been pacified by w/s and we're comfortable to what we think is freedom. Also, we need the teachers our ancestors had. Teachers that care for their students and take the extra mile to assure each child will not fall through the cracks but things are more complex in this time era. No proper resources for teachers, unnecessary standardized test, teach only for testing, cutting off resources and supplies, teachers are underpaid and overworked, the school menu isn't fueling children's brains, etc...all of those issues and more need to be addressed but we have Politicians making laws for the youth. The school system today is nothing but political gain at the expense of children's education.
I'm so glad to have watched these videos by Dr. Barbara Sizemore , I learned so much from her lectures than I ever did in the public school system in Nebraska !
I love the authenticity of every word coming from this interview. Dr. Barbara Sizeman's passion about education is remarkable and the missing component for academic success.
Bingo! This is we got integration. You cant ruin a people until you take away their power bases which was our families and communities. This was all planned 100 years ago
In order to understand Dr.Sizemore, consider demographics, economic means of survival and social norms. Only after studying the previous mentioned we can understand how power and privilege and the differences play a large role.
What a LOSS! Something tells me if I’d had Ms. Sizemore for a math teacher, I’d be able to understand algebra just fine by the time she was done! ✅❎✅✅✅
I remember every teacher I had because it was the I raised. Back when we in school your teachers cared and your parents cared. And did get whipped but we respected those that were older because we were taught to. Didn’t make a difference what color of your skin.
I understand that integration was about equal access to resources, but I wonder if it did more harm than good. In the case of the educational system, it would have resulted in removing students from communities where teachers valued them and were invested in their education 😞
Integration is was "Black" was broken! The wyt teacher saided she did not spend years in college to teach n-bomb students.Dad did not believe anything I saided., You know what? I became a park ranger. To prove them wrong! I was at Mt.St.Helens.A black English teacher was my hope.God bless her.
I know now I need a table tt e and a. Computer to further my education on black people of color in advance proportion thank you for comments on study of black people o I I understand xxx black I've been Limited from Bolivar thank you for letting me speak my mindp
Integration shackled us with educators that don't like us
That part☝
Absolutely.
I'd like to recommend the book, Fugitive Pedagogy by Jarvis R Givens, it is an excellent book.

Thank you Ms. Sizemore😔 We get to experience life back then through your videos. This made me happy.
We grew up with a switch tree in our backyard, and my mom made us get our own switch, don't bring no little one back.

I think if you check-out ANY high school cafeteria you'll have ALLL the proof you need.
We need that for our public schools.
Knowledge is important and it's reachable and approachable to everyone without any concern in terms of race, ethnicity or any credo.
Love her!
