Had to be a custom order, pretty sure they didn't offer the SG cherry on Firebirds that year. To see one so unmolested is really museum stuff. This series of Firebirds were so unique in many ways, the end result being a really versatile and modern electric guitar. The fellow who does 'five watt world' has a great piece explaining the Firebird series. The Songbirds Museum had an acre or so of very unique Firebirds, all the colors. But this one, so close to production perfection is really off the charts. They must have been just too expensive to produce, like an Aston DB5. Great fingers there, Emmmoo,,,
Firebirds are absolutely overlooked. I have played a lot of Golden Era Gibsons, even some Bursts.... but one of the best guitars I ever came across was a Nonreverse Firebird 3, with 3x P90s.... absolutely crazy guitar, but it was beaten to hell. It played absolutely amazing, sounded incredible and was so inspiring. Stunning guitars.
Yeah... There Great !! Custom color ones are. $$$ The Banjo tuners, in the wrong case, Well they push on the Headstock, often creating a n easly repairable crack. Allways check for it ! I started buying & Selling Vintage guitars @ 17. Unreal Burst were $ 1.500. Max. ! In 79 ! I wish I did like Norm. & Stashed the Unobtanium in a Warehouse !!! Oh well. I'm blessed to have what I have. Which essentially cost me nothing. I still gig, & Play them ALL.
I’ve never heard a sound so smoky as a firebird. I don’t know much about gear but I assume it’s because of the mini-humbuckers? It’s like sharp, creamy and smoky all at the same time. The lows come through so good
@@maxh_music Yep, that pretty well says it… Great pickups, yet not the same ‘mini humbucker’ as those found on other guitars - the Firebird mini’s were of a different circuit. Fantastic guitars, altogether.
@@maxh_music I don’t have one either, but unless you’re looking for older vintage, you can surely score a Gibson Firebird for markedly less than those prices. I got an Italia one about 20 years ago, which kicks total ass.
WoW! Schveet Friday Night Classic Metal on a beautiful Gibson Firebird !! Congrats to Norm for making it available.Congrats to Lemmo for some great playing. And to Jen: great camera work. We're glad there was no butt cleavage from the customers. ;>)
Man, that is the best I have ever heard a Firebird. But of course, it was Michael Lemmo playing, he could make a string on a broom handle sound epic. As much as that classic rock tone was exemplary, I would have liked to hear Michael explore some other tones.
Anyone notice Gibson stopped making new Firebirds after 2019? They actually had them in Cherry too. No vibrato, though the things were bad for tuning stability 9 times out of 10 compared to other styles of whammy bars out there.
These pickups are a little different to the minis used in Epiphone guitars. The bar magnets are inside the coils rather than underneath, which means no polepieces and also a brighter, more wiry sound. Like the minis they were designed by Seth Lover.
Again, nice to see a talented “young” guitarist. In my 60 plus years of playing and owning most of the classic guitars I had absolutely no interest in the Firebird. It simply clashes with my concept of what a guitar should look like.
people walking around cluelessly in the background always cracks me up. Amazing demo going on using an extraordinary vintage guitar? Huh? Didn't even notice...
It might be easy for you dudes and dudettes to make fun of Michael Lemmo. However, when he sits down on that couch and rips it like he is in this video, in the classic sense that Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote about in 1995, he can "make history young again".
@@hammill444 Not even the snobbery of it. I like good beer I get it. I mean the actual quality of the materials and construction is better. CNC machines, machine wound pickups, better technology everywhere on the guitar. The Indo Squier will outplay and out last that hand made USA Gibson.
12 YEARS AGO I WALKED INTO NORMS SHOP AND GOT A MINT FIREBIRD
I STILL HAVE THAT BIRD
If ya don’t mind me asking what did ya pay for it back then ? What year is it from ?
That was amazing Michael. Thanks Jen and thanks Norm for protecting a classic. ❤

Great to see Norm looking so well.
Yes lookin happy and healthy! Nice playing Lemmo
That is a fine sounding Gibson. That guy can play too. Wow!
Thanks guys for making these awesome videos I think I can speak for a lot of us on this platform we really enjoy these keep up the great work
firebirds always looked badass to me, whether its a guitar or a base , they just look big and mean in the best way
Cream, that was cool.
Always
ROCK AND ROLL!! Thanks Mike and Jen.
Just bought a les Paul tribute today but I’ve always wanted a firebird. One day!
You’ll love your tribute. Great guitars
Great job guys !!!
Gorgeous guitar. These old Firebirds have always reminded me of those classic old Chris Craft wooden speed boats. Just cool.
Cream, Nugent, EVH,
That’ll do. Thank you Mikey!
Michael brought that Firebird into the FUTURE !!! 👍

@@vampyros1 I assume that plays a role into the super high pricing. I can’t find one under 6K on Sweetwater unless it’s the reverse body for 4.

Hope lemmo don't get bored of doing these videos ..I love his jams...shows me some lovely stuff ..Great channel
That is indeed stunning! 🤩🤩
Those humbuckers are PERFECT ❤
Oh yeah, that's more like it, and you can actually hear what the guitar sounds like as well. Good job.
Thank you Norm😊

he always looks so relaxed… 😉😊
Love it! Please throw down some Allen Collins from Lynyrd Skynyrd fame! Most of the best Skynyrd stuff was done on a Firebird by Allen Collins!!
Come on Gibson, bring back the Firebird!
What does a Nashville Cat play on a '64 Firebird? Cream, of course!
Michael needs that guitar! That is one very cool piece of Gibson right there!
Great work Michael.
Eddie would be proud
Norm do you have trouble parting with some of beautiful guitars. This one is exceptional.
Sounds amazing
I like when Lemmo plays different things than the usual on the guitar, it makes things more interesting. Awesome instrument!!
Hallelujah that's real rock and roll blues guitar amazing
Great review. Lemmo is really bonding with that guitar!
Any time he opens with sunshine it’s a jam
Guitar sounds amazing
Beautiful indeed.
Another great Lemmo demo 👏👏🎸🎸
I Love that FireBird!😎🎉👍 That is Killer! Thank you Norm and Lemmy for the demy! I will take good care of it.🌅🙏☮️🖤🕊🦋🕊✌️
IF I was in the shop I would have paid $50 to hear Lemmo play that. Fuck Yeah
Beautiful guitar. Great playing, you know EVH is smiling. 👍🎸😎✌️🇺🇸
Awesome playing sounding great 👍
That really does sound fantastic.......I d r e a d to think what the price tag says on it though
You know these babies have crept up on me over the years, man I dig em! I'd love to have one. 😊
To the crew: Please demo an Aussie early 60"s Maton Fyrbyrd, if indeed you have one or can find one.

They still make them. & Yes, 99% Of players, Back then. & NOW , Un screw the thing, & put the bar in the case. FN useless ! Really...
awesome rock variation! Thing sounded really awesome indeed! Especially for it not having been recorded in 4K....😅
And your bird can sing!
Holy moly, that thing is a solid tone machine! Where’s the kid’s college fund? Lemmo is God
Really needed some Johnny Winter on an axe like that 😉
You can't be cooler than a Firebird, you just can't.
Those New York mini’s bite like single coils. Brian Jones ! Johnny Winter !
These pickups are a little different to the minis used in Epiphone guitars. The bar magnets are inside the coils rather than underneath, which means no polepieces and also a brighter, more wiry sound. Like the minis they were designed by Seth Lover.
WOW !!
Came for the guitars. Stayed for the humor 😂❤

That woke me up!
I'll say it: sounds better than a strat.
The Firebird is the sound I want........ it's weird but the sound 👌
Ein alter Titel von Cream hervorragend gespielt.
Lemmo feelin that 🔥 fire bird 🎸...I know he wants it 🤣🌶
What song is this
Lemmo rules!!!
How much!
4:27 Lemmo playing that Firebird so hot today that he just about knocked that guy’s shorts off.
people walking around cluelessly in the background always cracks me up. Amazing demo going on using an extraordinary vintage guitar? Huh? Didn't even notice...
i think the videos are mic’d in a way that those people aren’t hearing what you’re hearing.
Jason Isbell has entered the chat.
Looks just like his 64.
Any pedals into the super reverb?
Nope
You can hear him clicking in and out something in the video, so ya.
Awesome set Lemmo! Another great video! And what a guitar of the day! Thank you!
Killer. i want a '65 Reverse transitional model. Reverse body w/non-reverse headstock.
Free Bird! 🦅
Is it room temperature?.
Uncle Ted!
The Johnny Winter guitar
Did I miss something? Where is Jack?
LEMMMMMOOOOOOOO !!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sick 👌🏼
The one Gibson guitar that sounds most like a fender
Wow
So how come the price is not mentioned?
Link in title comments
nice.
try finding an Epi. Did a year or so ago.
Three trips to a shop,,,,finally someone knows wtf.
Stay away from zzzsss
"I've had it in my warehouse for about 35 years".
I don't know if i am supposed to fell good or bad about that.
how stable is the tuning?
Probably better than a LP. Don’t have the 3x3 tuners up top.
@TylerJohnstonGuitar Aaahh... NO. You & Countless others believe the YT Hype BS. GOOD. More for those who can ACTUALLY PLAY. Thank you.
@@soundpainter2590 You can’t argue with physics. String break angle is a real thing.
All i can say is holy wow that guy can play a guitar i played my drums too that it is mind blowing .
Should’ve played a Dmaj chord after hitting the bar.... 😆😆😆😆😆
Holy sh
That guitar is a stone cold high volume killer. Thanks Michael Norm and Jen. Only one sorta suggestion, play it thru a Twin Rev or Soldano cranked
What was up with that dude wandering around in the shot?
👍👍👍

The girl with the honey pot though!? She's a fire bird!
How about a bit less reverb, so we can hear more of the guitar and less of the effect. Other than that fantastic.
The shape isn’t really that funny, it’s basically a rounded off Explorer. 😉
Thing screams
Thing creams
Thing reams
Stranglehold !!!
Joke about Squier all you want Norm, I guarantee a new Squier from Indonesia is a better guitar than that goofball Firebird.
Well, I don’t know about that. But I hear you-- I don’t much care for guitar snobbery.

I just wish Epiphone would make an affordable non reverse Firebird III, I’d definitely buy that!
This is a joke right?
I'll still take the Firebird over a goofball Squier 😂
Sounds always the same
No Johnny Winter?? 😢
