- In the late 1960's, Point Pleasant, West Virginia, was the home of an otherworldly being with huge wings and unsettling, red eyes...Mothman! Sightings of the creature, and stories of alleged encounters were widespread, stories of appearing out of nowhere and vanishing without a trace, scaring locals, and even mass destruction. In no time at all, the cryptid was widely known for its chilling appearance and acts of horror, but everyone wanted to know...just what was Mothman?

Fun fact, there's a Yugioh archetype known as the Danger archetype. They are based on cryptids, one of the cards is called Danger Mothman

I'm less than 50 miles away from Chicago and me another buddy may have ran into one of these back in 2007 and it only came after me while my friend was safe hiding behind a tree.
That thing here in Chicago is a large Condor bigger than any I've seen in a Zoo or a documentary
The first time I ever heard of the Mothman was from Mystery Hunters and then Monster High

Ok, it is a Horned Owl also know as Jersey Devil. It is massive two feat bird. Who is well hidden during the day, to point that many people are not even aware of them in the neighborhood. But they hunt during the night flying low to the ground. Making strange noises. As such many people end coincidentally jumped by strange creature, of which presence they were not aware of. What due to short distance look larger then it is. Then it end overblown by the media, questioning panicked people.
Fun fact: Big Chill from Ben 10 is based on the Mothman.
Also, Mothman (along with Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and the chupacabra) have Funko Pops based on them.
