I really love the combo of birch/mahogany. It has more warmth than an all Birch kit but doesn't lose that great birch attack/crack in the bass drum. And that 60 degree bearing edge really helps the attack.
You remember how old DVD player screen savers had that logo that would bounce around the screen and never hit the corner? I felt the same thing just waiting for your drum key to fall off the snare and yet it never did.
I've got the first year of the session Studio Classic in 2013 when it first came out I know it's not that drumset but I've got Evans black chrome heads on it and gave those drums a really great sound. A lot of people seem to think that the SS seek it didn't have the low-end boom like the SSS does but if you tune it right and put the right kind of heads on it I mean we're talking about Birch which is loud and then you give it a subtle attack with Kapur (soft boom!) I think it's a great sound but you got to have the right skins and to me those black chrome Evans heads are perfect on that kit but don't get me wrong I'd like to go back to playin' the Mahogany & birch (prestige session '91one of my first drums). Session Studio standard (SSS) it's certainly my next drumset, it's an incredible kit. I can see why Pearl went back mahogany/ birch. They've really stepped up the session kit in the last 10 years. They're every bit as good as the Masters kits. I'm also been using a Gretsch Brooklyn standard snare and it's everything I wanted in a wood snare. But I need to get a metal snare and i really love the Gretsch hammered Chrome over brass 5×14, holyshit I sounds incredible. There's another snare I could get for about half the price and that's a Gretsch hammered black steel wow what a awesome sounding snare as well.
That kit sounds so good. And great recordings - I could really get a feel for what it might sound like in the room. Dang it Adam! I don’t need another kit! :-)
I used to own a five piece Reference but could never seem to tune it to where I wanted it. I’m making a trade deal on enough PA gear to create my own bar type sound. I have to learn a whole bunch about recording and playing with a board. I want my sub woofer directly below my riser. Dude, …lol… I wonder what that’s gonna sound like when I actually turn the speakers towards me. This time my snares getting a coated head. I’m learning my dynamics with brushes. I have to do my rooties every night or I get cold. I’m starting to fall for swing music. Funk added to anything makes it a hybrid.
@@AdamTuminaro haha Adam I love it! My wife and I are gonna hop onto your filming course to prepare for some videos in the New Year. I watched them at the beginning of 2020, but I feel I'll have a whoooole new perspective after filming videos regularly for a year

I just purchased a Session Studio Select in the Crystal Halo Glitter finish. You made the drums sing Adam!
Love that finish! And thanks for the kind words my friend! 🙏🏼💜

Perpetual torture 😫
They are beautiful sounding kits! I just ordered the 5 piece in satin ash finish with a 8 inch Tom and matching snare. Great video Adam!
I have this exact kit. Amazing sounds and extremely unrated kit. Awesome 👍
Excelente o sru video ! Mostra o som real da bateria ! Parabéns.
I am so torn between these and the Tama Starclassic B/Ws.
Idk if you got your kit yet. I have both. I preference the Pearl
@@carlosarredondo4932 I actually found a SUPER cheap Tama Starclassic W/B kit in my favorite color. Love it more than I thought I would

Great. Would have loved to hear with the snares though 😳😅
And: dampening in the kick?
Kick is empty. Snare is non-matching, so I didn’t want to detract from the rest of the kit by using snares.
@@AdamTuminaro Ah, thanks. Surprised by it being empty, sounds tight.
Solo llevo 2 días viendo sus vídeos, practicando y siento que he avanzado mucho más rápido. Excelentes clases!

Those toms are giving me some Phil Collins vibes! I hope you're doing better 🙏 ❤
Do you use a bass drum lift on the 20” bass drum?
only think i don't like about Session Studio is no tom mount on tha bass drum especially if u end up in tight places but it's a great set

I was waiting for the snare wires to come in 😆
I have the same kit but with a 22 inch base drum and in black
Best review so far .you should do all the drum 🙂✌🏻
This one and the Mapex evolution , which one would you go with
This lmao Im personally not a fan of mapex
Oh yeah, I have adhd really bad. I thought I’d grow out of it but it’s apparently a tractor beam that won’t die.
Wish I can get a set …. Some day
Finance it man

I swear Pearl make the best drums and colors
I reckon the nicotine is best color
12 inch Tom ain't so bad anymore it seems
bravo
No more "my thoughts" video?
I don’t know what a “my thoughts” video is. Lol
