Adam is amazing on stage and knows how to connect with the audience. Then add his voice and that he is one of worlds most skilled male vocalists... This is gonna be gold.
I saw Adam Lambert live with Queen a few years ago he was amazing!! His stage presence is incredible, his vocals are superb and he’s so theatrical. I think this is a great part for him to make his Broadway Debut!!
Adam's Broadway debut was sensational! Lucky to snag a ticket for his opening night. He was mesmerizing! I was awestruck. His choices were pitch perfect. 10/10 and a most stellar Broadway debut!
You mentioned Adam's early career in theater and Queen. Adam has been Queen's frontman for 10 years but Adam has his solo career as well. He has released 5 albums and 1 EP. I've seen him live solo. He's great with connecting with the audience and his vocals are amazing.
Adam did tons of theater in a children’s theater group in San Diego, and in high school and after. Besides Wicked, he did Val Kilmer’s The Ten Commandments, Brigadoon and a “Hair” tour in Germany. As a child and teen: Peter Pan, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, many others, and recently Ratatouille. There’s a beautiful performance from Brigadoon in Houston on RUclips. He’s also been doing lots of voiceover work recently, Megamind and Fraggle Rock, A Tale Dark and Grimm as a cheeky devil on Netflix. So, more than just Queen an his solo music. He also judged (and won) X Factor Australia, two seasons of Starstruck in the UK and just recently The Voice Australia. He’ll be a fantastic Emcee and Auli’i a wonderful Sally. Seeing them in January! Can’t wait.
Adam Lambert has such stage presence because of his journey via theatre, touring with Queen, etc. He can be flamboyant in a good way. I can’t wait to see him emcee Cabaret! The last 2 emcees I haven’t care for. Joel Grey and Alan Cumming have been my favorites and I’m hoping Adam Lambert will be added to my list :)
Adam Lambert will never get the credit he deserves for his work in Queen. He’s been the closest you’ll ever get to another Freddie for over a decade, and yet there is still almost NO Queen merch with Adam on it. I can’t believe we STILL have to go to war over him being the frontman. Mans stands on business and is there to stay. So let’s PLEASE get some t-shirts at least! Oh, and congrats on tackling an iconic role. Go and kill it out there, AL.
Lambert has a stunningly beautiful, powerful voice. He is generally one of the best vocalists in the world and is very cool in live performances. And even though i'm not a fan of musicals, in order to listen to Adam, l'll go
I'm thrilled about this casting. I've been a fan of Adam's since forever. I got to see his Fiyero at the Pantages with my favorite witches, Eden and Megan and followed his subsequent American Idol to solo career to Queen journey with delight. Auli'i is likewise a powerhouse, but just coming into her brand. Now...where to sell a kidney to see this.
I feel the same. I love musicals, but would not have chosen to spend this much for a table seat in Cabaret if not for, as you so abtly put it ,ADAM FREAKING LAMBERT!
I just purchased tickets to see Adam Lambert and Auli'i Cravalho on 3/22/25. I'm looking forward seeing their take as the Emcee and Sally Bowles. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Eddie Redmayne and Gale Rankin in their roles.
I was really hoping Mason Alexander Park would take over after Eddie Redmayne left, but I'm SO excited for Adam Lambert and absolutely ECSTATIC for Auli'i Cravalho!
I believe the next round of casting closer to when Sandman's new season will be released would be the better time for Mason to do the role on Broadway. Right now unless you are a fan of the show is a bit more in the background so when it's back in the spotlight would be the time.
I remember seeing Adam with Queen back in 2016. Strangely enough, the main outfit he wore in that concert was basically the Emcee's first costume from this production, only in black. I'm super excited for Adam and Auli'i and really wish I could see them live!!
Adam’s been Queen’s frontman for over a decade, and we STILL can’t get any decent merch with him, Brian, and Roger on it. Or a Funko Pop set of the current Queen lineup. The disrespect is real.
I just don’t wanna see anybody try and be like “ugh why Adam Lambert instead of actual theatre stars” Ummm if these people do their research, they’ll learn that Adam has done theatre before he even went on American Idol
I think most of we Adam fans know he grew up in music theatre, and this way he is seeing his childhood dream come true! He was a great Fiero, but as he said himself, as he was the understudy, he never got to go on very much. Now he is in a position to get a staring role. I am so excited for him , and for me to get to see this performance.
Yes!! I’m very curious to see what you’ll think of Adam and Auli’i’s performances. Also it’d be a dream to accidentally run into you in NYC, but that’s beside the point haha 😂
Yes! Me too! I’m going to be up there for a friend’s wedding anyway so it worked out for the same week, plus I have a wonderful aunt who loves NY and the city and we have our tickets and are going! I’m going to cry. I know it.
Adam as the Emcee, YES PLEASE! Sadly will miss them as I’ll be back in London but I’m happy to see that this production is going the route as its London counterpart has been doing for years!!
Not anywhere to watch this but people can tend to miss/forget the other things adam does. They just think idol and queen. But he has done a bit of voice acting lately (megamind, fraggle rock, a tale dark and grim, Playmobil etc) as well as his solo work so this will be interesting.
I was so heartbroken to find out this is a Broadway casting change. We need Adam in London, I really hope he will transfer to the West End after the US run 🤞 Honestly, the American audience still don’t seem to be ready for this version of Cabaret, whereas in London, it fits like a glove ❤
Due to a combo of having seen Cabaret (though not this revival) and coming away lukewarm on the material, having no particular interest in either Eddie Redmayne or Gayle Rankin, and the ticket prices, Cabaret hasn't been a priority for me when choosing shows to see. This casting announcement may just change that. I've been following Adam since American Idol and likewise have noted Auli's carefully navigated post-Moana career and this is an inspired choice all around (for both performers and the show). I can't wait to see them kill this!
I already have my tickets! Your comments about Adam's acting and accents - I think he will surprise you. Adam was offered Hedwig to follow Neil Patrick Harris and he turned it down.
We visiting England from aus and saw west end production last night…. Omg what a theatrical experience. Loved it highly recommend. We had Layton for Emcee. They were brilliant. I’m a reviewer in Melbourne and was in stagey heaven!
I was shocked as an Aussie that Adam would be doing this because he's going to be a judge on the voice in Australia but I did my research & they pre taped it all earlier this year & will air it after the Olympics.
I'm VERY excited to hear this news, particularly about Adam Lambert. He's an incredible singer and a very good actor, but also a truly sensational PERFORMER, which is ideal for the emcee. If you've never heard his performance of "You can't win" from "The Wiz," you really should. It's from early in his career, pre-American Idol, and it's sensational. You can hear it here: ruclips.net/video/iyMVd8d86gQ/видео.html. There's also his performance of of "My conviction" from Hair, showing off his more "character" type singing. You can hear that here: ruclips.net/video/6v1IsOQhEH4/видео.html
btw, Adam played a non-musical role in the movie Fairyland. "Eddie doesn’t stick around, and nor do a succession of boyfriends (one played by a credible Adam Lambert) as Steve begins to live openly as a gay man."
Ngl when I read the news article about it and read "they'll ve starting their roles Spet 16" my mind finished reading the sentence as "and I bet Mickey Jo & Aeron will see it Sept 17."😆
I'm confident that Adam will kill it (plus he has extensive theatre experience), but I'm wasn't familiar with Auli'i Cravalho. You offered a little more about her working up to Cabaret (I didn't know she did Evita in London), so I feel a little more confident about her (and will be in NYC October 3 & 4, perfect timing to see them).
Hi Mickey, you know I am a big fan of your channel and your content often times gives me an indication, if I should go and see a show or not.🙂For this video, I must say I thought you were a bit harsh on Auli'i Cravalho, calling her a Disney actress of yesteryear. Have you seen the video of her in the studio, recording the Moana song 'How Far I'll Go'? If you did, you'd know she is insanely talented. She performed it again LIVE at the Oscars!! In a room full of Hollywood A-Listers - it was flawless. For women it is not easy to be recognized and seen as a talented individual we often get judged and reduced down to our appearance and sex-appeal only. Society wants to reduce us down to this. It is unfair and it has always been. We should get praise for our skills too! I have not seen her on the theatre stage yet but making the transition from a Disney movie child actress to a Broadway theatre actress is already challenging enough as it is, I think we should give her some credit. I know I do! 🙂
MickeyJoTheatre you've got to see the you-tube video of Adam Lambert and Aulii from Broadway Theatre. Adam answers their questions in a German dialect, saying he has been working with an incredible dialect coach, I was amazed, but I'd love to know your thoughts on it. Adam Lambert said the reason he became interested in perfroming in Cabaret was that he saw Eddie n England and loved his performance.
America not giving Eddie and Gayle their deserved plaudits might well be my villain origin story, and I have seen quite a few of the London castings as well, many of whom were amazing (as well as Eddie and Jessie in London)
@@Eilish-ex8xo - There were stronger performances on Broadway than them. I actually felt the leads of “The Notebook” should have won the acting categories.
@@ChienaAvtzon I don't mean awards, which are a farce for the most part. I mean the response, which I believe (yes, also an opinion) has been coloured by people wanting what they already believe to be 'fact' about these characters, and an unwillingness to engage with performances on perhaps a more uncomfortable level.
I truly found them to be pushing the boundaries for acting, especially their physical performances. It's actually the kind of thing that I consider makes live stage work and the associated prices worth it, more than very polished performances. No one can argue that they are not giving their all out there, so even if you disagree with choices, it's still so worthwhile to watch them.
Really. Mine is Adam still not receiving his flowers and due credit for being Queen’s frontman. IT’S BEEN OVER A DECADE. HE’S HERE TO STAY. We love and honor Freddie, but we also love and respect Adam.
Casting Looks Absolutely Phenomenal. I don't think I will make it to see them as there are other shows on Broadway that are pulling my heartstrings (Moulin Rouge and Sunset Boulevard), and with my current situation, I can't afford to see more than one show at a time (My last Broadway show was in the mid-2010s) .Hopefully, I will make it to see either this show or the London Show, I would have loved to see Jake Shears, but hopefully I will have another opportunity to see him live in some production.
MickeyJo, DHARLING!!! I'll see you the first week in November for Tammy Faye, The Outsiders, Cabaret, The Great Gatsby, Sunset BLVD, Death Becomes Her and Oh, Mary! Might be able to squeeze in two more shows, but that could be overkill. Smooches.
@@kefinkamed😂😂😂 true but also Adam has certain allure in terms of his sexiness and charisma that I think will make the show work better. That was sadly lacking completely from Redmayne’s version which is why so many hated it along with the bad singing. I’m thrilled with this casting it’s perfect. Adam can be both seductive and terrifying that’s why he’s so brilliant ❤
Was lucky enough to see Redmayne last month (Rankin was out & her understudy was AMAZING). I'm trying to figure out how to get back to NYC to see this again. I'm interested in seeing how (if at all) her heritage affects how Sally is portrayed. There is so much intermingling of otherism right now...
You realize Adam Lambert is Jewish, right? Which would actually affect the revival more. Since it is obvious he will portray the Emcee completely differently than Eddie Redmayne.
On the topic of traditionally 'good' singers portraying Sally, Liza is iconic, but she's also very different from, say, the clips I've seen of Natasha Richardson. Though casting 'good' singers isn't unprecedented for me personally, it tends to break my immersion. That's a personal hang-up, though. All this being said, I am cautiously optimistic about Auli'i's casting. I think she is a very gifted actress with a flexible singing voice who is very capable of making acting choices with her voice. People tend to forget that Disney has a track record of hiring top-tier talent who often have a history of stage performance. More to the point they hire actors first and foremost. I think those qualities are what's going to make her an interesting Sally.
This is quite surprise indeed. Speaking of Moana 2, did u know that the songwriters of The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical are involved with making the songs alongside some of the old composers for that movie?
2014 Revival of Cabret had it's A Listers and more thrilling/fun. Americans don't like immersive theater for Broadway. This revival may close asap. Chicago brings in many stars. everyone is happy Robyn Hurder is back in Chicago. Also, Cabret had huge star replacements in the early 1990's.
Only tourists so to “Chicago”. The issue with the immersive atmosphere for “Cabaret”, is it arguably fetishized the very thing the musical is criticizing.
interesting and telling that the people on theatre board who were saying that Layton was too gay for the Emcee are not saying the same thing about Adam........
There are plenty of people that say ignorant things on theatreboard - I actually think this interpretation of the Emcee exists outside of gender / sexuality so neither matter.
@@MickeyJoTheatre - You also need to take into consideration that Adam Lambert is Jewish. Which I think is part of the reason he was cast as the first replacement for the Emcee. Since this is the make-or-break moment for the revival on Broadway. Part of the reason there was a lukewarm reception, is due to it making many Jewish people uncomfortable.
@@MickeyJoTheatre AHH she says she wants to do a musical in every interview!! My bank account doesn’t want it but my heart needs it. 😂 Would be such a good role cause we haven’t seen her sing much.
I'm so excited for Auli'i! I've seen the show twice with Rebecca Lucy Taylor and Cara Delevingne (who completely blew me away btw) playing Sally, and it just hits different seeing it played with queer leads, can't wait to hear more!
Adam Lambert seems like a very good casting decision. However, I am still not sure, if this revival can work on Broadway. While I overall enjoyed it, as a Jewish person, something about the entire production rubs me the wrong way. There were times it just felt like they were fetishizing the antisemitism.
This is where I'm at. I get the arguments on the political atmosphere/soul of Berlin, but other things just don't add up and I was initially really interested in seeing it but now I'm not so sure and am trying to figure out what to see when I make it to New York in October (outside of Ragtime, I got those tickets right when I could.) With limited finances and time, I just don't know if I want to put the money in to see this version of Cabaret or not because of those concerns.
@@loveandbeauty - Completely understand your concerns, especially because the tickets can be so expensive. At times it felt like the director/producers really needed a consultant to explain the demographics of NYC, and that they needed to make a few changes before the transfer. I am actually a bit surprised Mickey did not pick up on it. As he defended the need for Jewish voices in theater, after the “Funny Girl” tour casting controversy.
@@ChienaAvtzon Both the associate directors, Jordan Fein (who also does the prologue) and Danny Sharron are Jewish. Bebe Neuwirth and Steven Skybell are Jewish. They have their own take on the world.
@@loveandbeauty as another Jewish person, my 2c are essentially that the antisemitism made me uncomfortable but, like that it worked? Like I expected it to rub me the wrong way, and it did, and it was extremely uncomfortable at times but that in part made it work for me? Like if I hadn't been upset by the show, i don't know if I would have thought it was as valuable or evocative? I don't know if thats necessarily an endorsement of the choices made in this production but more of a 'theres no way to know how you'll feel about it unless you see it yourself' kind of thing and while it is super expensive, I do not at all regret my choice to see it and strongly encouraged my Jewish friends and family to see it as well
I am used to silly put downs hurled on Adam prior and almost 15 years later after his short stint on AIS8. 4examples:😂he's fat, he's thin, he's gay, not gay enough, he's American, can't sing, out of tune, he's 😂blah blah blah blah blah blah and eternal blahs. 😂 Addendum: Jealousy is one of human intrinsic emotions.
@@baxatakbaxatak2014What the f does that have to do with Cabaret?
Auli’i was the best part of the Mean Girls movie. I think she will bring a depth to Sally that will be excellent.
Casting Looks Absolutely Phenomenal. I don't think I will make it to see them as there are other shows on Broadway that are pulling my heartstrings (Moulin Rouge and Sunset Boulevard), and with my current situation, I can't afford to see more than one show at a time
(My last Broadway show was in the mid-2010s) .Hopefully, I will make it to see either this show or the London Show, I would have loved to see Jake Shears, but hopefully I will have another opportunity to see him live in some production.
Please tell us more about the competition that Adam lost to Lindsay Mendez! I can't find any information about it!
It was kris allen on American Idol season 8 in 2009.
That’s so awesome!
Smooches.
After seeing Redmayne's bizarre performance on the Tony's, I'm kinda more excited about the prospect of seeing Cabaret w. Lambert. Great casting!
Knowing Adam’s MO, you will rethink your idea of bizarre and probably will view Eddie Redmayne as mainstream 😂
@@ChienaAvtzon I know literally nothing about him, so yes, that info would definitely inform his performance.
any chance of your still reviewing the current london cast? 🙏🏻
Talking about gleers on Broadway, is there a review for Water For Elephants awaiting in your heart? :)
do you know where you got that elder mckinley pillow from? my friend loves mckinley and I wanna get them something like that for their birthday.
Moana 2? I am on board! Yeh, this is what I got out of this, since I am not going to Broadway in the next dozen years.
Would it ever be published which nights they wouldn't be playing? Awesome vid
Currently, Redmayne is off on Monday evenings & Rankin is off on Wednesday afternoons. So my guess is it'll probably remain the same.
@@RaymondNYC1 You are amazing, thank you!
Yes, the dates they are not playing are published.
There is a list of dates Adam isn't on.
I've had 30 years as a professional actor and my dream part was always the Emcee. It might be too late in the game.
I agree, I am looking forward to seeing Laytons interpretations / reviews of Adams
You’re tellin me Jodie Comer Sally could happen 👀
Could and SHOULD tbh
@@MickeyJoTheatre AHH she says she wants to do a musical in every interview!! My bank account doesn’t want it but my heart needs it. 😂 Would be such a good role cause we haven’t seen her sing much.
did you say snnie lennox?
which role as she could perform either
I don't really care about broadway casting. London has dozens of great shows going on every day. I haven't really loved anything i ever saw in NYC
Shame you didn’t get to see Jake Shears…he was awesome
Excuse me.
They will pull in *people with good taste* with Jinkx Monsoon.
Where can we as fans of Mickey request or suggest west end productions for reviews? Just don’t wanna spam the comments if there’s a better way.
I rather see Auli'i Cravalho in Moulin Rouge on Broadway.
Not my fave revival, but I may have to go back???
I'm so excited for Auli'i! I've seen the show twice with Rebecca Lucy Taylor and Cara Delevingne (who completely blew me away btw) playing Sally, and it just hits different seeing it played with queer leads, can't wait to hear more!
rastralians reuben kaye would be agreat emceeits very closeto how they expres themselves❤
I would like to see them. Maybe more than current stars. Will see about ticket prices.
The replacements happens fast.
As he defended the need for Jewish voices in theater, after the “Funny Girl” tour casting controversy.
fetishizing antisemitism...please explain.
I don't know if thats necessarily an endorsement of the choices made in this production but more of a 'theres no way to know how you'll feel about it unless you see it yourself' kind of thing and while it is super expensive, I do not at all regret my choice to see it and strongly encouraged my Jewish friends and family to see it as well

so glad I saw Eddie Redmayne in Cabaret, not excited at all about the next cast. It's a no for me.
Isnt Adam kinda chunky to be playing emcee
@@royperez8965 Jesus Christ what the hell does that have to do with anything? Beyond gross.
Adam has lost a lot of weight. He is now very thin. How about you do your homework before you open your mouth.
@@elainesevigny even if he wasn't though?! It has nothing to do with the role.
@@MickeyJoTheatre my reply was directed to @royperez8965.
Addendum: Jealousy is one of human intrinsic emotions. How each person handles such, separates who's decent and who's not.
