It’s weird how some couples share their nakedness with their spouses but find it difficult to share and be open with their finances. In a marriage, there is no avenue for each parties to “dey their lane”. It would be a difficult set up especially in the UK. We have to be careful to the advice we listen to on this social media 😕
As a man who migrated abroad, my observation is our ladies appeared to be more feminine and homely back home, when they needed their men for financial support. On migrating, I observe that many of our ladies now earn same or more than their men and it becomes very hard for them to see men the same way they say them in Nigeria. It’s hard for a woman who is financially independent to respect her husband. This is my observation.
@@dremmanuelnwogunot completely true. It’s easier to be a housewife in Africa than abroad. What some men in Africa don’t understand that move abroad is if the woman has to work and also take care of kids. What are men actually contributing to the household ? Most men abroad don’t earn enough to pay all the bills. So women also need to give their husband respect and men must help with household chores
The truth is Nigerians will not understand what it means to support their husbands with responsibilities here in the UK until they are here live and direct ....that Nigerian mentality does not apply and work for families here in the UK ...if you are in the UK and your husband chooses to do 💯% of the responsibilities..I cut cap for you ooo..but trust me as a good wife, you should support from time to time❤
Everyone’s home operate differently true but I also can’t do 50/50 or joint account. Some men come to the UK and become lazy when they see their wives working hard.Abeg o😂😂😂
This is my situation too..when I was working as a teller in naija infact hubby was footing all the bills and only ask me money when he runs out of cash, he will even give me some money and stylishly ask back later because he knows am very prudent with cash. When we relocated here he was struggling to get a job in his field ...omo I suffered o...I was doing care job and saving to bring the kids..when j suggested he tries other fields or even care/ support since they are so easy to get ...omo come and see war, he called me names said I should tell my withcraft members that they have failed. I worked back to back for 8months, deferred my studies, got sponsorship and paid visa fees for my children..it was at the point of booking flights that he gave 1000k, he now did same support work i had suggested earlier..to add to the 1700 I saved for flight bookings. Omo I remembered when I passed out at work cos I don't eat well., children have been here for 6months now and me have learnt my lessons Japa almost cost me my life, now I have to think of myself first, any move that don't favor me I won't take He was saying things about canada, I just ignored him, I won't fall in that trap again. This is why alot of marriages crashed when they relocated abroad...am grateful to God that I'm alive for my children o
I am vehemently against this 50/50 shiiii...all hands should be on deck...both parties should pay bills and run the home., of course everyone knows that every party performs some roles more....(i saw the post about the man who sends on £500 on NWIU group, its sickening)...
I feel like marriage is not sweet in this generation. There is too much “ndoro ndoro” in our generation. We are in a transitionary phase of women trying to prove their independence in marriage. It will take some years for us to get passed this phase.

My husband and I earn very similar and I manage all the finances (we have a joint acct) as I’m better at budgeting and this is what works for us.
That’s sooo perfect, well done 👍
