    LYRICS:
    I once was lost in sin, but Jesus took me in
    And let a little light from heaven fills my soul.
    He bathed my heart in love, and He wrote my name above
    And just a little talk with Jesus makes me whole.
    (Now let us) have a little talk with Jesus
    (Let us) tell Him all about our troubles
    (He will) hear our fainted cry
    (He will) answer by and by
    (When you) feel a little prayer wheel turning
    (And you) will know a little fire is burnin'
    (You will) find a little talk with Jesus makes it right.
    I may have doubts and fears, my eye be filled with tears
    But Jesus is a friend who watches day and night
    I go to him in prayer, He knows my every care
    And just a little talk with my Jesus make it right.
    And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right...

    Mark Lowry’s greatest one-liner ever at 2:44 to the organist, “he’s waaaaaaay to white for that!” It’s true what they say about the good old days, you don’t realize you’re in them until you’re looking back on them. What I wouldn’t give to have been at one of these sessions!

      Is he still joining in the Gaither Homecoming Specials? I'm from Singapore and Chinese. Though trained as a minister at Rhema Bible Training Centre in Singapore. I only came across all these wonderful southern gospel songs in 2010 and realised where all my Sunday School Songs came from. I'm so sick and tired of the songs being written nowadays. They are not biblical, not scriptural, not in line with doctrine, a repetition of the same phrases and it's the same style of music... I really want to bring back/introduce these old hymns, American gospel music to South East and East Asia. I truly think Americans and English wrote most of the best hymns and Christian songs.

    Jd sumner does something to my soul.Growing up my Father was a hardened person.He had a fowl mouth and was very brash.He being a ex marine and involved in law enforcement should give you an idea of his roughness.But...What gets me the most I caught him watching the Gaithers on tv.And for some reason Jd Sumner and his singing and talking about Christ humbled my father.In January of 2008 my parents went to myrtle beach on a few day getaway.My father wasnt a god fearing man when he went on that getaway.But one morning he awoke from the hotel where they stayed and he walked out to the balcony only to see in big bold numbers etched in the sand on the beach right in front of him
    .....JOHN 3:16....My father came home from that getaway a godly man.My father passed away two months later on March 15th 2008..I was 29 years old when he died and the last couple months of his life was the best couple months of mine.There is a God.And buried before me lays the remains of a God fearing man.That gave his life to Christ..

I have been a christian since the late 80s and by the sovereign grace of the Lord I too have had a 30 year struggle with the cow pat style music being sold to this generation, but have found solace in reaching back into the past library of music to re-discover some real solid non-self centered Christ based music to worship God too.
      Brother you are not alone in this world their is many other saints struggling with the same issue and we need to reach out and support each other during this very tough time.

    Greatful for a black preacher, Reverent Cleavant Derricks, who with inspiration penned this song. Coming from 2 small churches with great piano players this was a happy praise song. Budding sopranos, blending altos and baritones and especially wannabe bass singers all enjoyed this music and never had to be told to "sing louder". Reverend Derricks died long ago but is in just the beginning of eternity to sing this song down the streets of glory.Looking foward to singing it with him and the throngs.

    • @ednakelley814
      @ednakelley814 3 месяца назад

      When we look into the Bible, we find the word "reverend" refers only to God Himself, and not once is it applied to a man. The lone instance of the word, found in Psalm 111:9 in the King James version, says: "He [God] sent redemption unto His people: He hath commanded His covenant for ever: holy and reverend is His name." God alone has a name worthy of reverence. No man, including any minister, has a name worthy of such respect or worship.
      The use of religious titles, such as "Reverend," began when the great apostasy set in at the close of the first century. Ministers put themselves "in the place of" Christ (the meaning of vicar), taking upon themselves the attributes and titles of divinity. God's true ministers have never done so.

    For all those wondering about why they laughed so hard at 2:25, the organ player did a major key change, utilizing the fifth of the fifth (D major) as a passing tonic, which distracted J. D. Summer from his tuning. It is something utilized in gospel music and that's why Mark told him "He's waaaaaaaaay too white for that".

    • @keithliggins8545
      @keithliggins8545 4 года назад +22

      I wouldn't call it a key change. To me, it sounded like they were in C, (playing the one) when the organist went to D, the 2 (or the fifth of G) and went chromatically down to B (the third of the G major chord). Basically, a ii-V progression that would eventually resolve to the I. But what do I know, I'm only a bass player.

      David, Go to search box and type in "JD Sumner Testimony", Listen to his remarks and see how far he has come. He was a very angry man before his conversion to Christianity, I think the Sumner clan was a hard place to grow up. Praise God he got saved!

    There is not a single doubt about the richness of J.D. Summer's bass voice! I wish so deeply that all religious people would sing spiritual songs without mechanical instruments of music. God's word teaches us to sing and make melody in our hearts. God's way is the only perfect and right way. (Acts 16:25; Romans 15:9; 1 Corinthians 14:15; Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16-17)

    In the mid-1960s, a student brought a record into the science club at Jamaica High School(Jamaica, Queens, NYC) which included J.D. Sumner. The other members were astonished and the question arose as to how low Sumner's voice could go. So they attached a microphone and some electronic equipment to an oscilloscope and began to carefully remove all the noise that the speaker and needle on the record's groove could create until they had a signal that could only be attributed to Sumner's voice. They found an undertone in his voice of four vibrations per second. This is astonishing because the human ear is incapable of hearing any sound below ten vibrations a second!

      Not Two octaves, but two full steps. Two octaves lower would be barely above the auditory threshold.

    • @dogpreacherhall8208
      @dogpreacherhall8208 7 лет назад +3

      Actually... Ich Und Nicht Du... Igor was correct...or..close anyway. You were not. two steps is nothing. JDs lowest note is in the 0 range...that is...almost 2 octaves below low C, and for sure 2 octaves below where a bunch of basses consistently sing. I am not even a LOW Bass, and yet I sing G1 to C2 for my bottom end notes.
