Hobby picker here, and it was mostly with paperclips opening up alarm panels and file cabinets at properties that we just purchased and didn't get keys for everything. Recently I got more serious about it, buying a 'real' lockpick kit (well, a cheap kit anyhow). I've been fairly successful at opening locks, but this video inspired be to switch hands - normally a righty, I started picking with my left. I became much faster. Thank you for the inspiration!
just started messing with these things. Pretty much following bosnianbill. there are a lot of others but I like his vids. I did pretty well single pin picking these. at first the hardest part I believe is providing the correct tension. I, like you, started trying to man handle it, and I started with the rakes also. no luck. when I went to the single pin, things turned out much better. I was able to find the tension needed. another thing, I picked the smallest torque wrench and for some reason I couldn't do it. I walked away and came back, when I used to largest, no problem. I still feel pretty weak sauce cause I'm watching these guys picking them open with cat food lids and teriyaki sticks. someday...someday...
You are using WAY too much pressure on the tension wrench. You should hardly be using any pressure at all, and you're using so much force it's bending your thick wrenches... When I rake Master Locks, I continually let off, and then get back on the tension every time I rake it. It makes it much more likely to rake it open very quickly.
Just got a set from temu, only watched the lockpicking lawer and then this video after a few faild attempts. Well I opened it after about 4 mins! Single pin picked my first lock. It’s so satisfying
I bought a Southord pxs-14 kit bought a master no. 1 within seconds...almost immediately...of putting my rake in it unlocked...maybe using too big of a rake? that thing was huge! thnx for the video
Yeahh persistence paid off.... If you put shallow 90 degree bend on the other side of your tension wrench and use it in the top of the key way as oppose to the bottom you will have loads more room to work your picks......Good video keep at the picking practice pays....
This is just a suggestion. Have you tried using your index finger for tension? I know you probably learned to use your thumb, but the problem with that is you can apply too much tension with your thumb. I noticed on your first attempt, you were probably using too much tension for even a Masterlock. Whatever works for you is the way to go. I sometimes put 2 fingers on the tension wrench, and still manage to open a lock. This video is almost a year old, so you have probably progressed much further by now. Good luck Picking.
“This lock has no balls.” Sounds like every master lock made. Watching picking videos has shown me that I should never use master lock for anything I care about.
Never lock picked before. got a cheapo set of rakes for free and picked a #1 within 5 minutes of just playing around with the snake rake.. Although I can not for the life of me get a #3 open lmao
@@TheSmokinApe yeah you had it upside down see the pins in the Bible aren't the issue is the driver pins you want gravity to pull those down otherwise it'll easily over set them like for instance if one pin goes up over the shear line and then you set another pin you could lock that first pin over to shear line where as if it was sitting upright gravity would have pulled it back down out of the way
No 1 is absolutely garbage. I just got my first lock picking set, ever, and had the one raked, waved, and picked within an hour. Pretty sad. On here to see how hard 1 is.
@@TheSmokinApe You have any thoughts on No 3? I've tried more firm pressure, lighter pressure, etc when raking and picking, and I've only raked it twice.

LOL @ cat food lids, makes you feel bad doesn't it?
I have to say that tension was the single most important thing to pay attention to for sure.
Hmmm so single is better….interesting.
Master #1 was the first lock I ever picked. Took me about 10 seconds. Whenever I feel down about my picking, I grab a #1 and feel better.
lol, after a little practice it’s hard to believe how easy the masters are to pick

I prefer to single pick most of the time. I only rake for fun or if I'm in a hurry.
I mostly spp these days. Haven’t picked in a while, maybe I will break the pick kit out. Thanks for watching

Awesome man, congrats 👍

Sean Miller Thabks for the post, this was when I was first learning... I gotten a little better. That was a cheap rake that I think ended up breaking.

Yep, practice is the key 🔐 lol... thanks for watching and for the tip.
Opening up the package this is actually legit any one can pick a lock that they are familiar with
Thanks. You are right that it’s easier of you know the binder pin. Thanks for watching.

It's hard for me being a lefty to use the pointer. I have done some picking as a righty but it's a bit more difficult for me.
You use waaay too much tension while raking. You'll have much better results using very light tension.
"this lock has no balls"
blush for me!!
lol...
Started picking last night. I can consistently rake this lock in a few seconds.
That's awesome!
Same lol
This could be more realistic scenario for lock picking more so than the lock picking lawyer who picks it in 30seconds
It was at the time when I started to pick. With practice I have gotten better but I would still consider myself a beginner. Thanks for watching!
@@TheSmokinApe like playing the violin or guitar but entirely different objective
I think LPL cheats.
Reset with your tension bar more alot of time was picking a false set pin or 2...
👍
AWESOME MAN!! I GOT THE GOSO SET NOW, WORKS GOOD!
+SSR KNIVES AND GUNS! I have heard good stuff about GOSO...
I got it twice but I can’t get it again. Unfortunately these are the only locks around the house atm other than the clear beginners.
I feel the pins but I cant figure it out. Showing a sketch of the mechanics would be helpful as well as knowing which picks to use.

Yeah, Master is no good

It just takes a boat load of practice, sooner or later you will get the hang of it 👍
Keep it up sir!
👍
+TheSmokingApe I think Auto Jigglers would be more useful i've picked many locks with them
I was looking to get some, are there any you recommend?
TheSmokinApe I purchased the "
DmsBang 1 Pcs 10 Double Sided Car Padlock Key Opener Tools" from Amazon
+mainenwo Thanks!
very cool
+unclecow Thanks UC!
I thought it was bad to flip the lock upside down..
Might be, I never heard that.

I blame the miller lite that's where the tension was and i don't blame him
lol
I was able to open one up with Bobby pins in a minute or so
Nice 👍
You said “this lock has no balls”. LoL.
Lol, I heard that in a Bosnian Bill video
Get a Leche tool. Piece of cake.
👍

Yeah, the No 1 isn't the most secure lock...

Trial and error
Sometimes its more error than trial if that is possible... :)
Huh. Cool vid
+blackquiver Thanks man...
I just rake mine open.
That’s one way to do it, thanks for watching 👍
