This is the match you created the opportunity to nail it then you played loose shots to lose the match. Yes, you are a fighter but your concentration lapse in the match is making you pay big time.
I don’t understand why Muchova hasn’t won multiple majors and been ranked in the top ten for several years. She hits such superb shots and even Pegs said that Karo was making her look like a beginner out there. Then suddenly it’s like she hits a wall and abandons her dynamic style and starts playing from the baseline. And missing easy shots. She’s been in a bunch of SFs and some Fs but only has one WTA tournament win, a 500 level. Huh?? At least Rybakina has won Wimbledon. How does Muchova not beat nearly every player she faces? Fitness? Mental block? I just don’t get it. I like Jess and am happy for her but it seems like K.M. was a totally different player after 6-1, 2-0. Ivanovic Syndrome 🙁
Women’s tennis is way more interesting to watch than men’s. They have finesse and varied strategies. Men just whack it as hard as they can into the corners like grinding metal or chopping a tree like a lumberjack.
I actually think Muchova would've stood a better chance against Aryna had she been able to maintain this kinda level. She has the tools and court sense to frustrate a player like Aryna, Pegula doesn't. It shows in their H2Hs with Sablenka
