    Great video, your narration made it even more enjoyable. I grew up in Yonkers, saw the Palisades from my neighborhood.

    I believe it has been determined by geologist that the Palisades are one of the precise points where the north and south America plate separated from Europe and Africa plate .
    As a side note, Long Island is just a giant sand bar deposited when the glacier of the last ice age receded.

      I just learned so much - and in just 2 sentences! Thanks for the educational commentary ;)

      BTW... The Hudson river trench extends about 10 miles into the Atlantic as the Hudson started flowing again when there was still a large amount of water locked up in glaciers so, the the ocean levels were much lower.
      I don't care what Sheldon Cooper says, geology can be fascinating . :)

    Was just there today. Where did you park to find the swings? How long was the loop you Took? There lost more cool stuff in that area too. A castle and lots of abandoned buildings and campsites and old bunkers. It was fun.

    • @UnboringExploring
      @UnboringExploring  7 лет назад

      Hey, Emm! We parked at State Line Lookout and found the swings at the base of Peanut Leap Falls - That was 3 years ago, though, so the swings may no longer exist! The loop was 4 miles. And I agree! This area is a pretty neat place to explore :D

    • @UnboringExploring
      @UnboringExploring  7 лет назад

      Hey Phyllis! You should absolutely start exploring the NJ trails...there are so very many! You have nothing to worry about when it comes to wolves - and as for bears, just be aware! I've hiked MANY times over the years and have only seen them once in NJ, once in NY. What's paramount is being prepared for the hike w/ a map, water, and snacks ;)

    Would you say this trail is kid friendly ???? Also, can you provide the exact address ??? I googled it and can't seem to find the address.

    • @UnboringExploring
      @UnboringExploring  6 лет назад

      Hello there! Hm, depends on the age of the kids...there is some tricky rock scrambling (as I'm sure you can see) so wouldn't recommend young children. As for the address, the hike begins from State Line Lookout in NJ - here is the Google Maps location: goo.gl/maps/entXv1u7Wvk

    Hi! I'm planning on hiking this trail tomorrow. I read on other websites that the Giant stairs were blocked off after the 2012 rock slide. Was the whole trail open for you in 2014?

    • @UnboringExploring
      @UnboringExploring  8 лет назад +1

      +Kat Kat Hey there! It was completely open when we went and has been since they've cleaned up the rock slide (though the scramble remains ;) ). Beware of residual ice, otherwise you should be good!

    This, as well as half of the entire trail was my first experience hiking, except I went in reverse order, so I had to walk DOWN those steep ass steps. Uneven stairs and scaling boulders off the side of the cliff were NOT the favorable moments of said hike

  • @pbj7920

    Please don’t do this hike if your a beginner just did it today the rock scramble is extremely intense stretches on for miles I almost died the boulders are loose and very tough to shimmy over please trust me

    Junior High English classes would probably appreciate your narrations. I am not being critical. Your choice of vocabulary make an otherwise boring subject more interesting and they could use the same strategey in their writing, though not so profusely.

    Be real those are not giant stairs at all. I went hiking one time, first time, and last time for that much. I know now to just start like a normal person. Also, good rigged sneakers are highly advised. You need a break, seriously just take a break. It was truly my choice to overcome my fear of heights. I think I almost died that day. Anyhow, just seriously be super careful.
