Geez, Baz, what a tedious job! You'll be having nightmares about it! What about a cotton bud, slightly moistened with acetone to take those last marks off? Also have you tried taking the nail polish off while its wet with a squeegee of some kind? Maybe an eraser cut to a sharp edge? Anyway, good luck with it. It's going to be an amazing dial when it's done.
Have tried it wet Don, doesn't work at all. Just drags it out of the etch, I used a small piece of car wiper blade. Having success when dry with razor blade so far, long way to go though !
The nail varnish looks pretty good! If it doesn't work out though, have you thought about a proper glass paint set which you bake dry in the oven after applying? There seems to be plenty about on Amazon. (Just an idea, not though experience of them ) Seeing you use that razor blade terrifies me btw. ...i've scratched so many windows myself trying to clean up excess paint with one, I'd hate to see that happen to your dial glass. Maybe its made of harder stuff though?
Maybe squeegee the color into the etching, then come back and blade the residual excess color from the surrounding area 🤔 Perhaps the shadowing of the text is occurring from the saw scrapping from the razor blade causing fine scratches in the surrounding area?
Maybe try and just fill in the bits that have missed rather than painting over the whole area again. There will be less paint and it should set harder by the time you come to scrape it again.
I was thinking nail polish and acetone to remove the excess and you got there in the end! Bravo!
Sounds good, trying more today.
Nail polish is essential for all technicians lol. Looks great Baz
True Frank, I take pride in my finger nails 😁

Nearly missed this part! Good start, Baz.
I'm glad you didn't miss this one !
Better get this Breville finished !
Very good result
So far so good 👍
The budgies are an interesting background noise!
I'm going to include them face to face in next video I think 😁
The more they hear me talk the louder they get 🐦

Will see today how the nail polished goes, if no good will chase your suggestion. Thanks for watching & your comment on this 👍

Mmm, looking into that !
Thanks for your comment, and watching !
Cheers
Maybe try and spray on a thin coat so it sinks into the etching and clean excess off with a razor
Excellent, will give that a go as well. Stay tuned 😉
Have you tried applying it with the razor blade like a squeegee. Where it only leaves it in the recess and as you drag it across the etching ?
Yes, did give it a try. Just kept dragging paint out of the etched, very patchy

A good suggestion for sure !
Get a sharp blade. That rusty thing isn't helping you.
Lol, no it's not !
It was new too !
Using scalpel now, as well as good blade. Getting there 🙂
