    I recognise some shots on the road as they would have come from Radlett, Herts. heading towards Elstree village along Watling Street. Other shots could have been around neighbouring Shenley ?

    I like the reference to wearing seatbelts yet the kids in the back were free to be catapulted through the windscreen taking their parent's with them! My dad had a 101 estate in the early seventies and this brought back happy memories of holidays to Cornwall along the old A30. The summer's always seem to be long and hot in those days or is that just selective memory?

      @888ssss Год назад +1

      the summers would seem twice as long as you were half the size and it is all relative to time distance.

      I had a 1967 Victor 101 de-luxe brand new,it was the worst vehicle I have ever owned,it was trouble from the first day I owned it,I only kept it 10 months and traded it in for a Singer Gazelle,best decision I ever made getting rid of that piece of JUNK,it went on fire once and foolishly I disconnected the battery as it was an electric short,should’ve let it burn,you must have got the good one.

    I remember in the 70s being in my parents cars , 6 of us , no belts , me sitting on my Mums lap and we also had an estate which meant one could sit in the boot. However as dangerous as it seems now I think the danger of getting serious burns off the black vinyl seats on a hot day was actually more dangerous than the thought of going through a windscreen.

      Yeah remember sitting in an old car from the 1970s back in the early 90s in the summer time .old brown leather seats were like sitting on a red hot stoves car was like an oven even with the window down .💯😎

    This film was in fact 1967 , E reg is Jan 1st 67 to July 31st as the F reg came out August 1st 67 until 31st July 68 , the E reg only had a 6 month tenure , as all new cars from now on would be out new on August 1st, this was done to stimulate new car sales.

    unusual arrangement for the FC Victor 101. Its a four speed on the floor but with a bench seat which usually would be a 3 speed on the column. Makes it a bit awkward to change gear as he looks like he is having. Yes a great find. noticed another 101 saloon in it as well. Maybe Vauxhall supplied them? The model had already been out 2 years. I owned a 101 many years ago RJH969D. Must have gone to the breakers in the sky by now as the bulkhead was rotten and was not repairable.

    • @maxustaxus
      @maxustaxus  4 года назад +1

      Oh, that is interesting. Nothing is comming up for that reg (as I am sure you have checked yourself) so I guess it has probably gone on to be part of something else now. I have a bit of a thing for Hillman Hunters myself, and on a wet day you could hear them fizz as the metal disappeared before your very eyes. Pretty much all of them went to the scrap yard, often rejected because there was not enough metal left in them! Mind, the 101 is an elegant thing. It is great to have had the time we did with such cars.

      I had a Victor 101 in the seventies it was pale grey with a white roof , I bought it off a mate when I worked on the Railway for £200 , it was a nice comfortable car had a three speed gear box column change , but although it was in good nick after a couple of years the boot floor started rotting .

    Didn"t need mobile phones back then,AA box every 50 yards! My dad bought a Super 101 estate back in '65. Bench seats and 3 speed column change. I ended up learning to drive in it in '77 and really wanted that car but by then it was a bit too crusty and got scrapped. Poor old EKP 438C.
