Even though it was hella tragic I thought it was a perfectly well rounded way to end the story. Some people did the math, between mentioning Flroa's age and when civil unions were allowed in Vermont, they got something like 10-13 years together. And even though it breaks your heart to see older Jamie looking into the water and leaving the door open, it was enough because we know Dani was always with her and they did get a beautiful life together.
random side note but i really admire rosie's ability to determine which two celebrities someone is a hybrid of, like i'm always shook at the accuracy every time ajskdl
oh gosh. This show absolutely wrecked me. I was actually only planning on watching episode 7 one evening, but after that cliffhanger I just had to go on. I finished that show that night and it concluded to me and my friend crying and sobbing while being in a videocall at one am. That was probably one and a half weeks ago, and this story hasn't left me since, and i dont think it will antytime soon.
I've been obsessing over victoria pedretti even more now. First saw her in You, then saw her in hill house (didn't watch it at the time, just passed by while someone else was watching it), then fell hard for her in bly manor and decided to watch hill house knowing she was in it. I've watched pretty much every interview she's in and every bly manor interview in general. I think the hand on the shoulder shows dani's been there this whole time, even if jamie didn't know. "dead doesn't mean gone" Their love story broke my heart but also made me really happy. Those kisses were mad passionate. Dani and jamie forever ♥♥♥
I just finished it yesterday and "I Shall Believe" is etched into my soul now for the heartbreaking moment. I hate that the kids forgot everything including their English accents. Lastly I needed to see her face at least. A true haunting for my heart more than anything else.
I think the hand at the end was a really good way of telling the audience that Dani has been with Jamie the whole time watching her live her life. By far my favourite ship now followed by wayhaught.
I really liked how no big deal it was that they were lesbians. How Hannah and Owen looked at them and thought they were cute as they headed to their date. And, how Owen made that comment about how late it was at the end of the story, cause he knew it was so bittersweet for Jamie to remember it all. I thought the writting needed a little work, but overall I really liked it. Might rewatch it soom
I read in an article that Pedretti and Amelia filmed an alt ending where Jamie catches Dani on her way out, instead of just finding the note. She catches her before she leaves and convinces her to stay. Needless to say, they went with the other ending and my heart is forever crushed.
I thought the perfect ending instead of the hand was that the gardener looks into the mirror and there Dani was, standing in the mirror behind her, probably hugging her from the back sort of like how she was haunted by her dead ex boyfriend and the gardener just stands there, fully embracing the time for a few minutes. It would fit with the storyline of how their ghosts works and her longing to be with the gardener would stay in the gardener mind and therefore, the haunting of a ghost from longing and love.
I’m not sure that would be fitting at all. The way I see it, by being at Jamie’s side but not revealing herself, Dani is able to support her in some spiritual/emotional way without holding her back. If Jamie knew Dani was there, she might never move on. She might never try to build a life with another woman. Her talk with Clara suggests to me Jamie was getting closer to letting go. Dani would risk rolling that progress back if she showed herself, and the emotional crux of their story is that unlike Peter and Viola, she isn’t selfish enough to do something like that.
i feel like hand was a good call, because I was left feeling her longing even more. Same with the moment Jamie plunged into the lake, wanting to be dragged under. I wanted her ghost to stay with Dani, but it also felt so right that Dani wouldn't let her. I feel like this is the best love story i've ever seen (on so many levels and for multiple characters too!. ) Fu*k Titanic am I right?!

And THIS gave me this final bit of confidence/assurence to accept the fact and have closure." Or maybe thats just my experience..idk :)
I have two theories about the last scene: 1. I think the last scene with Dani's hand on Jamie's shoulder shows that Dani is still with her and that she's trying her best to "tuck away" Jamie. In some scenes of Miles and Pete, especially in the part where Dani found out about Pete and Rebecca's ghosts, it is seen that before possessing Miles, without getting his consent, Pete puts his hand on Miles' shoulder. We can remember that Jamie tried to give Dani her consent to possess her or tuck her away in their last scene together in the lake, but Dani cannot do it because of how much she loves Jamie. 2. Or maybe, the last scene of Dani's hand on Jamie's shoulder shows the relevance of incorporating the story of Dani's dead fiancé. We can see that the first time Dani saw her fiancé's ghost is through a mirror with her dead fiancé's hand on her shoulder. Maybe this means somehow, Jamie blames herself for what happened and Dani doesn't want Jamie to feel that exact same way she felt about the death of her ex fiancé, that's why she never showed herself to Jamie but she also made the decision to never leave her and be by her side until they meet each other again in another world.
I am so sorry for you americans. Well at least the ones of you who aren't totally brainwashed. I hope everything will be fine and gay marriage will stand.
I mean even if it is repealed it only affects couples who lived in states that refused to legalize it before 2015. That’s still awful and I hope it doesn’t happen but it doesn’t take everyone’s rights away it’ll just revert back to being on a state to state basis. Ugh why can’t those traditional politicians just chill for once.
I saw a thread on tumblr the other day where someone explained that Dani & Jaime actually spent more years together!! not only 5 but like 10-13!! that makes it hurt a bit less
They actually spent 13 years together as the day before dani died jamie came home with civil union papers which was in 2000. So they live together for 13 year🥺😭
There are soooo many theories about "the hand at the end." Victoria Pedretti says she thinks Dani has always been with Jaime. Another theory out there was that Jaime died, and Dani was waiting for her. Still another says the REAL mansion where this took place was the location of the wedding (which I severely doubt) and since Jaime came back now Dani can come to her. Someone also pointed out Dani's ex-fiancee is probably in her head, much like the uncle's evil self is also in his head. Both are banished by a major shift change in their lives. I am so impressed at how in this a lesbian dies and it isn't a cliche, but a natural and understandable part of the story--not some random violent death to fit a formula. Had Viola succeeded in killing Dani that would have seemed so (maybe). But the fact Dani is by far the most heroic character of all, and Jaime simply accepted whatever would come, with years and years together--made a huge difference. I am a widower, and Jaime screaming underwater "YOU! ME! US!" really struck a chord. I do recommend FINGERSMITH and point out the second season of GENTLEMAN JACK is starting.
yeah this show really was impeccable, jamie and dani had me in tears 💙 and when at the end they went back to the narrator and I saw that she was wearing the golden ring WOW there was where i died. Or maybe at the lake scene when jamie is screaming under water AAA 😭😭
As someone who is about to start university to study filmmaking, The Haunting Of Bly Manor has really raised the bar as far as the kind of television/movies that I would like to see more of AND produce. Dani and Jaime will always have a special place in my heart 🥺
I think the hand was enough bc it was subtle, so it wouldn't have to show Dani's face (I think she hasn't got one anymore). But really, I looved the concept and I cried my heart out with that ending
I failed one of my courses today, and I spend the whole day crying in my bed. Now I'm laughing so hard that my stomach hurts. Thank you for always brightening our days.
I knew the ending prior to watching. I thought I was gonna be sad but wasn’t sure if I was gonna cry. When I say I SOBBED that is an understatement. Literally 70% of the episode spent crying. A masterpiece.
The even sadder thing is, when u think ab it Dani never visited Jamie when she was awake. All because Jamie went through so much and Dani loves her so much she doesn’t wanna haunt/scare her so she only visits when Jamie’s asleep🥺🥺🥺
They were together 13 years! The scene when Jamie comes in with the 'civil unions paper' that became legal in 2001 in Vermont. So it's insinuating they've been together 13 years.
This is probably the best gay relationship I’ve ever seen on TV. I 100% believed it and it wasn’t rushed. The hand at the end made my tears less heavy, still cried though.
I watched an analysis of this season somewhere on here that broke my heart in it's read of the hand at the end, and the more I think about it, the more accurate I think it is, and the sadder I get. Jamie is falling asleep, probably remembering Dani when the hand appears. The analysis posited that the hand was just a visual representation of what Jamie had said earlier as she was summing up the story for older Flora and the other guests: that Dani now only exists in the mind of the woman who loved her most - Jamie. Dani's ghost isn't with Jamie, only a memory of her is, and that's what the hand represents. Dani's self-awareness has been erased, just like it had been for all the other souls trapped at Bly. She is benignly and mindlessly walking the halls of Bly Manor. She made the ultimate sacrifice to save Flora. No going to wherever all the ghosts get summoned after they die if they are not being weighed down to Bly Manor by the lady in the lake, no memory of herself and the people she loved, no reuniting with Jamie in death, actual nothingness for eternity. Jamie makes a point of sharing the story with Flora because of how Dani seemed upset at dinner that Flora wouldn't know what Dani did for her, because she gave up so much. And Dani's one way out of it all was to pull Jamie into that same hell when she dove into the lake at the end, but Dani wouldn't do that to Jamie, so she'll never appear in the water's reflection, because she hasn't taken up the invitation that damned her in the first place and that would damn Jamie in kind. The hand is Jamie fiercely trying to keep a part of Dani in this world, but it's not actually Dani.
I read that the gardener role was originally written for the actor who played Peter quinn....they made a better choice in the end
For some reason the idea of that made me so angry XDddd nothing against him but...

Rose and rosie? Bly manor? I almost broke my phone clicking so hard
"Dani wouldn't. Dani would never" 💔
"if she wasn't so hot I'd be really angry" basically every one of us when there's a woman villain
‘And then the lesbians came in and it was like ‘oh, we do care,” thats just totally me hahhahaha
I am still not over the haunting of bly.
My heart was thoroughly stamped on.
Me too and I always feel like crying and I dnt know who to share my feelings with
honestly, this was one of the best love and sacrifice stories I have seen in a long time, it is very beautiful and extremely sad of all the characters represented, but certainly the one that most marked me and I will not be able to forget for a long time is Dani and Jamie, I cried like a child watching the end, it was perfect.
Rose and Rosie react to the haunting of bly manor... is perfectly splendid
There is apparently an alternative scene where Jamie wakes up before Dani leaves to die at Bly Manor and Jamie manages to make Dani stay (source is Amelia Eve herself in some interviews). I really hope that we will be able to see it
What interview is it, do you have a link?
Victoria Pedretti’s interview responses have me rolling everytime.
I was too attracted to Jamie the gardener to think of anything else!! 😂🤷🏻♀️
They are my life right now
I can't let go
First time we have a lesbian couple on tv without having a big coming out story, or where one of theme have a boyfriend and cheat on him or just back off because she's not ready or confortable..
Their relationship is so pure, true, simple, sincere. They are just in love with echeother.
I'm pretty in love with them it turns out
We got given a lesbian couple like we'd be given a straight couple and it was perfectly splendid
THIS.
@@Clara-kv7xb Exacly and finally!
So you've never heard of a little indie show called The L Word 🤔
@@mydogeatspuke TLW doesn't really count in this instance, since there's Jenny and Tim, with Jenny cheating on Tim with Marina. And a flashback of Tina cheating on her bf with Bette when they first meet. Unless you meant GQ?
"dead doesn't mean gone"
Their love story broke my heart but also made me really happy.
A true haunting for my heart more than anything else.
bro the second i watched this show i was like CMON ROSE AND ROSIE
The ending made me ball my eyes out but I felt like it was enough, considering how good they built up to the romance and played out the storyline.
I think the hand at the end was a really good way of telling the audience that Dani has been with Jamie the whole time watching her live her life. By far my favourite ship now followed by wayhaught.
Anyone who didn't cry at the ending literally has no soul. 😭😭😭
no the hand wasn’t enough, i needed them to reunite in the afterlife or something like that
I really liked how no big deal it was that they were lesbians.
I’m glad we all agree that this is the love story of the century 🥺
Also have you guys finished she ra cuz I would love to hear your thoughts about the last season!!
I read in an article that Pedretti and Amelia filmed an alt ending where Jamie catches Dani on her way out, instead of just finding the note. She catches her before she leaves and convinces her to stay. Needless to say, they went with the other ending and my heart is forever crushed.
You gotta do Hill House and not specifically in a gay gals context just because it’s SO INCREDIBLY LIFE CHANGING
when scarlet johanson got into the water and screamed: "take me with you" ... that almost broke me!
THIS!!!
The ending of the haunting of Bly manor destroyed me HAHAHA I've been reading fanfiction to fill the void 😢
Any good recs?

The haunting of bly manor made me come out. I was sure all of the sudden
Loved this😂😍
i feel like everyone has this one thing (movie, song, speech etc.) that gives them this final moment of revelation. Not just like "im gay. its settled." but "ive been questioning for a long time, although in the back of my head in a way i actually knew but i didnt want to admit it to myself.. And THIS gave me this final bit of confidence/assurence to accept the fact and have closure." Or maybe thats just my experience..idk :)
@@avr7120 This is exactly it
NO ONE MOVE THEYRE REACTING TO BLY MANOR
I have two theories about the last scene:
Oh. Can you please keep going and
these theories are just perfectly splendid!
Lol I was waiting how long it would be until you guys found this masterpiece
I died when Rose showed her hands thinking she got her rings on 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When I finished the series I was so maaaad, they were so cute but they had to keep in mind that at any moment it could all be over and I hated that
They lived day by day so te hey wouldn’t worry :( but ye it was inevitable

"Oh I know we can't get married but I don't care."
Me after Amy Barrett got confirmed to the Supreme Court last night.
THE HANDS WERE ENOUGH!!!! honestly it made so much sense within the story, it was sad but it was a beautiful kind of sad.
I saw a thread on tumblr the other day where someone explained that Dani & Jaime actually spent more years together!! not only 5 but like 10-13!! that makes it hurt a bit less
They actually spent 13 years together as the day before dani died jamie came home with civil union papers which was in 2000. So they live together for 13 year🥺😭
Hill house was my favourite show until yesterday when I finished Bly Manor.
WOAH WAIT THIS IS SUCH A COINCIDENCE I LITERALLY JUST FINISHED THIS SHOW AND THEN THIS SHOWS UP...

@@aakankshachoudhary4350 Yep, watching you too. BORING! (JK)
same
it haunts you, it haunts me, it haunts us.
I appreciate how you are both channeling Dani and Jamie with your outfits in this video 🥰
Dani and Jamie were a blonde/brunette couple where the blonde one got roasted a bunch, so this is very on brand.
Yeah I don't think the wedding mansion was the real bly manor either. Like uncle henry would never let Flora get married there
@@phadenswandemil4345 also that house was in northern California, and Bly is for sure in the UK Owen and Jamie are still very British haha

yeah this show really was impeccable, jamie and dani had me in tears 💙 and when at the end they went back to the narrator and I saw that she was wearing the golden ring WOW there was where i died. Or maybe at the lake scene when jamie is screaming under water AAA 😭😭
is it time to admit I thought the narrator was calling Dani an ‘old pear’ like a cute nickname bc my ass didn’t know what an au pair was lmfaoooo
They had 5 years, for lesbians on tv, that's a lifetime"
Truer words have never been spoken 😂😂
Honestly, you NEVER disappoint. i was hoping this week’s video was gonna be about them and here it is!!! THANK YOU
I knew the ending prior to watching. I thought I was gonna be sad but wasn’t sure if I was gonna cry.
When I say I SOBBED that is an understatement. Literally 70% of the episode spent crying. A masterpiece.
The bit where the narrator says “she would know nuffin’ of the gardener” is forever stuck in my head.
Are we not going to talk about how Victoria Pedretti looks like a younger version of Piper Perabo?
this
RIGHT!! I was just thinking that same thing
Coyote Ugly and Imagine Me and You era... Exactly
She looks like a love child of Piper Perabo and Liv Tyler
The even sadder thing is, when u think ab it Dani never visited Jamie when she was awake. All because Jamie went through so much and Dani loves her so much she doesn’t wanna haunt/scare her so she only visits when Jamie’s asleep🥺🥺🥺
I didn't notice any ghosts because I was too distracted by Jamie XD but now I'm reviewing the series and seeing a lot of them
“It was the lesbian connection for me”
Never watched an episode but I could listen to them discuss for hours.
"They had five years, and for lesbians on tv that's a life time" Brilliant!!! 😂
I was so sad and heartbroken when I finished this show yesterday lol
I didn’t expect that too😭😭😭 I was just looking for some good old scary scenes there. It got me off guard😭 Netflix is the best.
