Yes. you should beat GATE competition to get admission based on gate score. Admission using GATE: needs good gate score equal to top NITs- get 2 STIPENDS Admission using HD: Need to perform well in HD exam- get 1 STIPEND (even if you are gate qualified, you get only 1 stipend in this quota)
