- Some vintage Illinois Terminal action in Central Illinois between Springfield, IL and Bloomington.
Shot by Arthur Purchase between 1974 and 1977, Unedited footage
Nice to see vintage film of the IT diesels in the 1970s. Especially the Electro Motive GP7s which greatly helped to replace the aging all electric Illinois Terminal class C & D road engines. Thanks for sharing!
I volunteer at the Monticello railway museum and its great to see portions of our main line in its hay day! Thanks for uploading this video!
Very cool video
Honestly I'd love to do this now. I always wanted to get a 16mm Bolex H16 camera and sturdy wood tripod and shoot railfan footages like this.
About 1minute 46 seconds into the film forward was filmed in and around Monticello, Illinois. A faded Monticello can be seen on the freight station. In a later scene the Wabash Railroad (Chicago - St. Louis line) steel bridge over the Illinois Terminal tracks can be seen. This is near downtown Monticello.
+NostalgiaRAIL Videos wow great video I truly loved that Illinois Terminal.
Exactly what I've been hoping to find. Thank you.
I love the caboose on the two-car branch line train...
Awesome.
Great video I'm curious does anyone know the location of any of these?
It says in the description. Unless you were wondering what happened to the locomotives today.
@@kishascape All I saw in the description it said it was between Bloomington and Springfield I just didn't know if anyone knew more pinpoint location on some of this
@@joewhitehead3755 The title is a little misleading. 3:40ish is the old Borden plastics plant in Illiopolis. 4:03 is definitely Monticello.
First one looked like Rt 66 in McLean.
Good Stuff Sir
