    This week we come to the final ‘ponzinomic’ case study of this series…
    And of course, it’s AXIE INFINITY!!!
    This case study offers different lessons to Olympus DAO and Safemoon since this time, the project actually appeared to offer utility that wasn’t centred on financial speculation - gaming.
    Unfortunately what we learn is that the gaming element was too narrowly specified, and the hype around the game attracted financially motivated players who acted to minimise gameplay engagement in order to maximise value extraction.
    And underneath all this were monetary regulation and incentive mechanics that simply could not sustain themselves, because the only way that the game had to take reward tokens out of the economy… was to promise more of them in the future.
    The demand composition and incentive mechanics created amplifying feedbacks that serve to drive valuations all the way up and plummet back down again, outpacing the efforts of the development team to build out the gaming universe in time to arrest the decline.

    Great content, I worked as a financial advisor for a fund during the time axie was sky rocketing, I advice not to enter for the unlimited capped on SLP. My suspicious was that eventually not only SLP was going to fall but also AXL and Axies as well

      Thank you Dario! Yes, all the parts were integrated, a collapse in the core reward token was sure to ripple out to depress the rest of the assets too.

    It seems like any play to earn game is desired to die, is realy possivel an economic sustainble mode?

      It can look that way! But there are some approaches which learned from Axie which appear to have performed better, like SWEAT economy. I covered this in my "Diversification" video.

    It's frankly sad how few views this channel has.
    Of course it is a reminder that education on tokenomics is not something people are interested in. They merely care about yield/gains and that is why they will get hit by these price correction situations over and over and over.
    Then afterwards they will use terms like rugpull and blame the devs for being malicious when often it may not even be necessarily the case - there was a blatant flaw in the system that all did not avoid.

      Yeah, this is my first sustained effort on RUclips... I wonder whether it's the best platform to serve this content, but I'm committed to seeing how it develops.
      New videos are is paused until the course is fully live - end of March - and then I'll resume with new videos that aren't course releated and will also hire some marketing support to see if there are better ways for this content to connect with its audience.
