I am currently running the Sicce Whale 500 on a 40gal SW tank with heavy bioload. Love the canister, runs silent, moves alot of water, easy to clean! I actually took all the special media and 2 of the filters out, filled the trays with rubble rock & ceramic media. I use the top tray for carbon. Works great! Congratulations on the sponsorship and it's Sicce at that!
Thanks for another great video, I run canister filters on all my saltwater tanks and HOB filters on my fresh water tanks. Never used a sump system. You're tank looks awesome
Very impressive canister filter. Seems very well made and well constructed. I imagine they would be ideal for anyone thinking of converting an existing fresh water tank to salt water. Well done to SICCE for sponsoring you.
Great sponsor! At least they don’t make supplements or anything like that so makes future reviews easy. But PLEASE raise those intakes!!!!!!!!! That’s a newbie disaster waiting to happen.. I would actually put them inside a removable overflow box so you can skim the surface. This will provide better filtration, hide the intakes and prevent flooding. Good luck!
You’re really tempting me to try a canister filter! Tbh, I don’t even run a skimmer or anything. Only use my sump as a refugium with xenia and algae. Main reason I’m thinking of going sumpless is because I want a tank upgrade and the price difference is huge compared to a drilled tank vs a non drilled tank
why no hang on overflow box? i guess im just conditioned to think canister filters are freshwater and saltwater needs a sump. i have both. i also have a 20 gallon emergency fowlr tank with just hang on the back filters and that tank thrives. i do like a 50% water change on it every week with the water i take from my display...
Yeah it’s crazy hey! I don’t see why canister filters get so much hate on a reef tank. 🤷♀️ I find it’s usually strong opinions from people who have actually never tried it themselves first hand… Which is confusing. So many people have had great success using them 😊🙌🙌🙌
I love your videos... being American I also think the Australian accent is the coolest out there...what do you mean by getting stung? What the heck do y'all put in your tanks there!?
So you’re trying to seed a new filter.. why would you use products that remove ammonia and other nutrients that nitrifying bacteria needs to feed and multiply, that’s how to stall a filter cycle.. it would also be an improvement to set inputs and outputs at different levels so the whole water column is covered rather than the same depth level
Love watching your videos, it’s hard to find anyone talking about being successful with saltwater tanks and canister filters so I appreciate that! What do you mean sting your hands when you go into the water inside the filter.? Like irritating?
Interesting setup. I haven't used canister filter and wonder if it would turn overtime in nitrate factory? What's your experience with nitrates and canister filter?
Great sponsorship by Sicce, woohoo.... i'm running a canister filter for my freshwater tank that soon to be shut down as I need the space for coral QT. I'm planning on using that canister for coral QT. should i use new media or keep the old ones after treatment?
Depends on the treatment I reakon 🤔 but if you can use the same older media I would say that would be best, but depends on the treatment you use with it. 😊🙌
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren what kind of treatment for old media? Simply removing detritus by rinsing media in saltwater and change media bag with a new one?
Good Video but canister Filter is nothing for ne i run an Sumpf for 30 Years. I dont think i work for the difficult Acroporas i Hand ;-) but nice Video

The good thing about that filter is you can change it up by putting different things in there like Poly Filter and Marine Pure blocks.
Yeah absolutely! 🤩🙌🙌

Tried using an old Canister filter converting my Freshwater to Salt It leaked like crazy =P I'm building an internal one now. Have fun =)
Oh really! That’s a shame. 😞
Interesting setup. I haven't used canister filter and wonder if it would turn overtime in nitrate factory? What's your experience with nitrates and canister filter?
I’ve never had any issues with nitrates, always sit around 10. Just continue to maintain them and haven’t had any issues 🤩🙌🙌

I really dislike these canister filters and had many bad experiences.
this human, promotes products, but not even a like to the supporters that commented, instead asks for subs and like etc.
