If they do do a Kamen Rider adaptation, it has to do the following: 1. Don't produce it like Power Rangers. It has to be unique to get people to watch it, or else people will just watch Power Rangers because that's where they can get their PR fix. 2. Don't use lazy writing and make it sub-par and use the excuse that it's for kids. That's how the west got Super Megaforce. 3. Use original footage. Making original footage is a lot more flexible from a writing standpoint.
As an Ultraman Fan I'm used to a single hero per show but I do wish we had more secondary hero's hence why Gaia is one of my favorites so I would agree at least 2 hero's bouncing off of each other's energy and clashing opinions keeps the fights and conflict interesting
That's kinda interesting that you brought up the issues with the MCU because I actually just got into Kamen Rider due to just being dissapointed by the MCU in phase 4 on and wanting a long running franchise that kinda has that "spark" that the MCU just lost when the Main Founding Characters either left or seemed to be reduced to jokes and/or replaced. But your videos kinda got me wanting to get into Kamen Rider and I just started with Geats and have loved it so much and feel so refreshed by it that I am now planning out where to go from Geats. But just as someone very new to the franchise I have to say I appreciate that despite the CGI limitations they feel ambitious with what they are trying to do with obvious budget/time limitations... which is something the MCU turned me off with horribly since Black Panther and just got increasingly worse with... see Antman 3 or phase 4 in general. Choreography is also very fun because yeah most mainstream superhero movies kinda show subpar fights. But in Kamen Rider so far, long shots and scenes that seem like incredibly hard earned single take fights just are very nice to see and remind me of some of my favorite recent action movies like John Wick and Bullet Train. Anyways that's it for the unsolicited thanks for converting me into... Kamen Rider-ism? But yeah love the videos and hopefully some day catch up on series so I can watch the end of you individual series videos because I've been watching just the beginnings to see which series interest me and plan to finish your video with your thoughts on it after I watched it.
Well shin kamen rider is waving at us right now, and I think this will be a solid movie not just a shin movie by Anno, but it will be a solid rider media we will get.
Feel like Timestamps for the questions would help. 7:20 It's funny how Masked Rider Dragon Knight's existence is completely ignored when there is a History of Video for it. Proof that the 90s style writing would'nt come back that he's asking for.
Toys and gimmicks are never a problem. It is only a problem when they're not implemented well into the story. There has to be a purpose or theme to be utilized. How to make Shocker interesting? FOUNDATION X. The answer has been there the entire time, the writers just didn't lean into it.
The toys can be a good measure of passing or failure in a show. If the show didn't make you care enough to make you want the toy then it had writers who didn't fold the toys into the plot well enough
There is a part of me that would love to have an american Power Rangers style adaptation. However, I feel like theres a few problems, and I don't know if you addressed this in the video. For me, I feel like a vast majority of Kamen Rider tends to be a little darker than sentai. Like right now, the two I can think of that is lighter is Fourze and Den-O. I also feel like the problem is that Kamen Rider has WAY too much human footage vs the typical sentai. I think it would be a lot of work, especially since not all of the MOTWs talk.
For Kamen rider, make it for teens/adults rather than kids. Have it go into taboo topics if needed, like W did with the drug allegory for Gaia memories As for riders, I'd like 2 minimum, 10 max. It means that you have flexibility for stuff like Ryuki/Geats, but also you can focus on a few like agito or Zi-o, even if they do get to like a hundred in stuff like Zi-o
I’ve actually made shocker interesting by having them enter the war robots universe, and becoming what I’m calling war robots shocker. They’ll mainly use the villain riders from each of the worlds that Kamen Rider War Robots visits, as shocker riders 2.0.
3 back to back couch videos, huh? Interesting, but I am not complaining, these videos are always fun to watch. Plus, you guys deserve a little break after Legacy of Ultraseven lol.
Personally, I would love to see remakes of Heisei Phase 1. I think these were some of the better stories, along with not being too gimmicky or demands from toy company. The stories were darker, more complicated, and not bogged down by power ups, multiple iterations of suits. If they didn't use the videos from these (since most are 15+ years old, not really in HD), but just stuck to using custom made suits, rewrite the stories to fit more American themes and settings, you could have some pretty good shows. I mean Dragon Knight was amazing it what it did, so do that. Like give me a Faiz with its characters. Especially if they also rework the series ending to the movie. Like the beginning of the series is pretty much the same as usual, but in the middle is where we start to see the fights between characters in their suits/forms, without knowing the identities, so causing drama for us watchers, then the reveals. But have the heroes lose out, thus leading to the movie world (where the Orphnochs take out humanity). Let it end on a downnote, or maybe switch it up where the character come together, overcome their differences, but still can't get past some past trauma or fights. I dunno, I just loved the series, the characters/actors, and the movie was awesome. If they also tried to make it where the various series all happened in the same world, ala shared universe, hopefully they do it smartly. Sprinkle in hints of other riders in the world with background info or hints. So we can get cool Rider team ups down the line. Or if somehow these shows got really popular, and we get 10 years, we get a cool Decade show. Cause my man Decade needs to pop back up. I miss you Tsukasa/Inoue!
Actually not all ultras are solo heroes, for example in gaia you not only have gaia but also agul, dyna and tiga, in z you have z 3 robots constant aid from many returning ultras as well as some extra help from other characters and that applies to many series, while often there is a solo hero ultra its not always
The problem I see about Adaptations, and while I can understand the idea of reaching out, we are kind of pass that point. Adaptations like Power Rangers is from a bygone era (if you look around, seems like even PR is doing away with it)
I only became a Kamen Rider fan when I listen to Over Quartez. Not so much for the song but the screenshot of Zi-O and Decade. I found that amazing and wanted to know more. So I started with Ryuki... pain, but then watched Ex-Aid and fell in love. Then Wizard and YEA, my love for this series is close to me. HEARTS?! No Marcos, Hearts is like an anti-hero no less just a victim of Gold Drive's cruel nature. He doesn't want to be a slave or his Roidmude comrades to suffer, even if he's willingly to harm humanity to do so. But even then, I never saw him as evil-evil. He's a great character but not an evil Rider. Honestly, no. I would have gone with Cronus or Evol. Cronus because he's just the best example of a good evil rider and Evol because I FUCKING LOVE EVOLTO. Best villain in my eyes!
Is it weird that I prefer the American versions of some Tokusatsu shows? Like I tried watching Abaranger but I quickly realize that I kinda just wanted to watch Dino Thunder 😅 I also bought the Kamen Rider Ryuki blu ray, but now I really want to rewatch Dragon Knight again after just a few episodes of Ryuki as well! Is this the nostalgia talking?? Someone please let me know if you have this same issue
Also, I prefer RPM to Go-Onger (I think Go-Onger can be rather cringy, excessive, and sometimes childish with its humor, and RPM's character build-ups and developments are pretty solid and well-written, and I also prefer the plot twists in RPM (my favorite plot twists being Dr. K being responsible for the creation of Venjix and the backstory involving Alphabet Soup)).
I started with Ex-aid and have since started from The very first season and have made it to X. I definitely think the Showa era is meant for a more mindless watch
Adapting Kamen Rider should happen again. Dragon Knight was actually really good it just had everything working against it. Disinterest from the network, a bad time slot, being on at the same time as Power Rangers RPM, and all this on top of being adapted from quite possibly the worst Rider series of all time. So if you get a crew with half the passion that the one for Dragon Knight had and give it a good place to be like Hulu or Paramount, Kamen Rider in America would be golden.
Quite a few hot takes in there, more than DosmRider. It's hard to believe you're not excited for shin Kamen Rider. Wonder what took you out of it? Also Kuuga is good.

I'm gonna say "No" on another Rider adaptation for two reason. One, the absolute state of the Zero-One american comic. Two, the fact that any western Rider adaptation would get wokified and pozzed to hell.
@@JVision1 It's written nothing like the show and instead treats Zero-One as a western capeshit character, and the art is lazy as hell using tracing and the like.
If we do get another adaptation of Kamen Rider in America, please don't let be another Netflix "anime".
yeah live action adaptation on kamen rider season in america

Just fucking dub/sub it, a little american child's brain is not going to melt when they see a japanese guy on screen

True.. we have Ginga and Victory trying to do this formula but it quickly get settled. I really want to see another ultra rivalry.
I second that.
We sorta got that with the second half of Trigger with Trigger/Trigger Dark, but yeah I would like that
Do you like Geed though?
If it ever got adapted, I feel like Kuuga, and Agito should be kind of mixed just because they chronologically follow each other in the same universe
The footage is too old at this point. The visual effect is too outdated.

>Rider fighting game
Fuck it. 3v3 tag system.
>Akibaranger, but Rider
Hmm...
---Main cast is a Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa Rider
))Showa Rider is a gruff old man and traditionalist
))Heisei Rider is a pretty boy whose belt gets more complex over the season and nobody but showa bro notices
))Reiwa is just happy to be there, and is a total fanboy of the other two
--someone referencing "Neo-Heisei" with a Cyborg Akihito joining SHOCKER.
--Female Rider gets the same treatment as Kenny from south park. There's a new one every episode.
--Decade is being held at gunpoint to be there, and his entire story arc is running from Toei executives
--Every motorcycle seems to explode after being ridden, except for the showa rider who is increasingly concerned by this happening
--Christmas causing the main cast to spend the entire episode worried about who's writing the episode
--CGI getting out of hand and burning out the budget at one point, causing the rest of the episode to be filmed on a phone
---There's also a sentai team that is just hanging around in the background
>Legend Rider Gimmicks
Meh. I can't afford them so it's...ok?
I'm gonna say "No" on another Rider adaptation for two reason. One, the absolute state of the Zero-One american comic. Two, the fact that any western Rider adaptation would get wokified and pozzed to hell.
There's a Zero-One american comic? Why?
@@darnis6497 yeah it was adapted by titan comics, because yes
What’s wrong with the comic?
@@JVision1 It's written nothing like the show and instead treats Zero-One as a western capeshit character, and the art is lazy as hell using tracing and the like.
