Happy 2024, my dear friends!! This is my first upload of the year and I hope that you enjoy it. Also, today is my 45th birthday, and on my birthdays, I like to think about everything that I'm grateful for in life. Guess what? I'm extremely grateful for all of YOU! Thank you for watching my content and being part of this channel. Stay tuned for many more adventures in 2024 and beyond, Olé!
Happy birthday. Thanks for sharing this.
Happy birthday Ryan and happy New Year 🎉🎊🎂
How did you go from 30s to 45 in Just a few videos I've watched 😅... Happy Birthday 🎂
Happy Birthday!!!
Happy birthday Duzer! Wishing you many many more. 🎉 🌯 🚵♂️
It’s crazy how small the world can be. I met Michael when we camped next to him at Cape Ann in Gloucester, Ma a few years ago. Blown away when he popped up on this video.
small world indeed
No way!! That’s so cool
The planet needs more human beings that appreciate human beings the way you do Ryan.
Awe, I like that. I sure do love meeting people out there
This vidéo is melting my heart with joy. You are, with your friends along the adventureS, a proof that humanity is still everywhere. Thx for sharing. Love from Montréal, Québec Ryan.
Thank you!! Baja is my special place
Hi Ryan, I want to tell you that I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of years now and because of the inspiration that I get from them is that I did some of the GDMBR last year and many other rides.
What I get the most from your adventures besides enjoying all the things the put into the videos is something more profound for me, is your ability to see the positive in any circumstances, your gratitude and respect to everyone and everything, even the place where you pitch your tent and spend the night. You’re a great story teller with your videos but your message goes way beyond the adventure itself, like another person commented, we need more people like you in this world to keep inspiring us not only to ride our bikes but also to see the beauty in everything. Keep it up and thank you for your contribution to our world.
I hope you don’t mind me being honest…. This was your best video in a long time. Very good to see YOU again and joy again. You muscled through your emotions and it’s good to see you got there. Life is messy, you get knocked down, you didn’t stay there. Welcome back my friend
Thank you so much! I appreciate this feedback
I'm 46 tomorrow. Started riding a year ago, influenced by you. Feels pretty good to be prioritising the right things. Safe travels Ryan.
Happy birthday to YOU!!! Hope you’re having an amazing day
Whenever I need some motivation I rediscover your videos and bing to get me back on track. Faith in humanity restored thank-you!
Thank YOU for your kind comment
Your Baja series have always been my favorite. Looking forward to seeing the story develop. No crashes, no whammies and no flatties!!
Thanks! I feel the same way about Baja
I'm so glad, and we off readers are so fortunate to have you set the example, don't give up!!! There's always next week, next month, or heat year. GREAT FLIK.
So true!
Always a good time when Ryan uploads🍻
Thanks for watching!! I appreciate you
I love that an adventurer can be inspired by an adventurer on similar adventures! Baja looks so beautiful too.
I love hearing people’s stories, gets me fired up
What a fantastic day 1 of the Divide 3.0! Some great souls there to finish off the first day, too! Shower, dinner, company.....awesome! Cheers!!
Such a great day 1
Gosh I loved this so much! It’s amazing to me that people go against the grain and live lives of adventure, simplicity and intention. Thanks Ryan!!
So glad that you enjoyed this one, lots more to come
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN! On your birthday you give us gifts. Thank you very much. I love the talks we have when you are on the bike. They are like pep talks for me. THUMBS UP ALWAYS!👍
Thank you!!! I had an amazing birthday
You are my hero Ryan. Not only you reactivated my bikepackin' dream, I take my son on journeys with me. Even when I'm distbled. So - Your hard work made someone in Poland to get out there ;)
That's amazing! Have so much fun on your adventures with your son
Happy Birthday Ryan 🎂 Enjoyed the video, and really enjoyed hanging out with you in camp. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your ride and creating magic here in Los Frailes. Inspired and so looking forward to my own ride in March.
I LOVED hanging out with you and your crew!! Thanks for taking me in. You’re gonna love the cape loop
So excited for this series. You got me into backpacking. Currently building out my bike and doing overnighters at my closest 100+ mile trail. I have learned so much from you, especially the food tips. Beans, burritos, and bananas! Also, I really look up to you as someone who lives sober. I am a few weeks from 1 year sober and I can't tell you how inspirational you have been to me and learning that there are epic people out there without drinking. I find a lot of backpackers will end their days with beers. I was like you, just no control. Anyway, I hope to see you down the road! Hopefully on my goal to traverse through Mexico and South America. I hope you had a great birthday, pedal on!
I love this! I wish you all the best on your future adventures, you’re gonna have so much fun.
Ryan, you’re Simply fantastic! And inspiring of course ! Thanks for these videos !
I appreciate that!
Happy Birthday, Ryan!
Love how your Baja saga progressively celebrates slowing down and meeting people!
The slower I go, the more fun I have
Love your videos Ryan. I also love your enthusiasm for life. I can learn a lot from you. Gracias and Tack Sa Mycket ❤
Thank you for watching!!
Drive The Globe is so freaking rad!!! You run into the coolest people! You both capture the essence of what makes living so beautiful
So happy to see you tackling the Baja Divide again! Can’t wait to watch the whole adventure!
Hey thanks! Many more to come!
Happy birthday, Ryan!! You are as usual strong and energetic!!!
Thank you!!
Ryan, try this while hike a biking: Get an elastic band and go around the bars and the seat post. This will lock your front wheel going straight and you will be able to hold the underside of the saddle and stand up straight instead of leaning over. Saves a lot of energy.
That’s a great idea!
Great video as ever. Its people that make the world go around. Those people that traded the rat race for the sand place are the real winners. Michael is right, people are the same everywhere when you travel: generous, welcoming and friendly. Oh, BTW many happy returns Ryan, you are catching up slowly!!
I’m on your heels!!! Haha
@@duzer Yes but I'm still ahead!!! 🤣
Feliz cumpleaños Ryan que cumplan 100 años más y sigas en la bicicleta ya estoy siguiendo tu ejemplo y de muchos ciclistas aventureros que andan por todo el mundo que Dios los acompañe
Ryan, ALWAYS a pleasure to travel vicariously with you. This one is no exception!
Thank you for joining me!
Ha I saw a spacex launch my first night out of Tecate. It's really not possible to overstate how difficult Baja divide is. Turns out people are shocked I stayed down and continued after crashing and breaking my arm.
Going on a bike tour really does restore your faith in humanity and make you realize that people are mostly good!
So well said!! My faith in humanity always gets a super charge when I’m out there
So inspiring to see you back again at the Baja Divide! When things don't work out the first time, or even the second time, you don't quit. You gain experience, upgrade gear if needed and have another go at it. Such determination is infectious in a good way. Love this for you, gnar on and thank you for sharing your experiences and life lessons with us!
Thanks, I really appreciate your comment! I can only hope to gain wisdom with every adventure. Stay tuned for more
What a wonderful adventure of yours,I really enjoyed watching your videos.Happiest 45th year of Birthday.
Thanks so much!
Hopefully you will ride with Mira soon , keep your heart open and your life free and god will bring the women meant for you, I’m 64 and ride a Marin alpine e2 year round and treat every ride like it’s my last, riding in the redwood forest is muddy now but fun, I look forward to every video you make and even go back and watch the Ryan Mira John rides to feel good, thanks for everything you do
Ryan, Happy Birthday 🎉 watching this video is a great way for me to celebrate your birthday.
You inspire me❤
That attitude adjustment towards going slower is a winning approach... as the saying goes, slowly but surely wins the race... older and wiser and we don't have a choice anyway. The physics of fluids also tells us that it's more efficient by not applying as much energy to go faster. Aerodynamic drag has the same phenomenon. Its better to focus on balancing the forces rather than generating more force that we can't control.
8:57 Braap... yes, having a motorcycle would be a lot more fun to get through the sand😂
15:25 I can totally relate to what you're talking about what you experienced 20 years ago. Like myself, I discovered the outdoors and adventuring when I was in my twenties. That discovery solidified my passion that hasn't stopped and continues to carry me through because there's so much Beauty to experience in the outdoors. I have 20 years on you, so I can clearly see you aren't stopping anytime soon😅
16:50 discussion about people we meet on our journeys/adventures... likewise, when I did all my hitchhiking and backpacking in the northwest im 20's, I met lots of people that were helpful and they meant so much to me. Some were so kind and offered me a nights stay or more. I remember the one woman that made a bag lunch for me and took me back to the freeway so I could continue my journey. A few weeks ago when I met Ben Boyer and family, while I was volunteering at Mojave NP, I had that "20 minutes" of meeting/bonding that you mentioned in this video. I was happy to make contact with Ben in a place we were both adventuring... it adds a lot of value when we have these experiences. As a mountain biker hiker and motorcyclist, seeing them drew me in to converse with them and help them enjoy the park. It was miraculous that the next day I saw them again as we simultaneously were making turns onto a side road while coming from opposite directions to go to the Kelso dunes. That was the icing on the cake of my meeting them.
18:40 Grand Custom Motor Home at 8 MPG... nice you met these folks... feels like home when getting the comforts of a shower, fresh food, and companionship among adventurers. I also use the word your new buddy said, immersion. One of the reasons I like to volunteer is because it gives me an opportunity to immerse myself in places for longer periods of time to get familiar with them on a deeper level than when just traveling through.
The slogan at the Mojave National Preserve was drive like a tortoise. Desert tortoise live there and I was fortunate to see 2 of them on the same day. Sorry, but I would rather see that tortoise live free unless it was unable to do so on its own.
I look forward to seeing more of the videos from your Baja trip. This is a place I would enjoy, but resist because of the heinous crimes that take place throughout mexico. I love the desert, cactus, and Landscape there.
I hope you have another great year🎉
Thank you for sharing all this, I really appreciate your insight.
@@duzer You're welcome. I loved that Metallica jam sesion you had🤣🤣🤣... Get out there 💪
Saw Michael's build out on this rig on RUclips seems like about a year ago. Funny to see him in your video.
That’s awesome! It’s so impressive
Happy Birthday Ryan!❤
Thank you!
nothing can teach you more grit and patience like the mosquitos did, in sweden
Happy birthday and I'm jealous of your trip. Happy pedaling!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN!!! Thank you for being such amazing human being and be an inspiration for other people.
Thank you so much!
Dude I just wanted to say, "you rock!" your original Baja series got me hooked on your channel. Good vibes only
hey, thanks! I appreciate that. Cool that it was Baja that brought you into my channel. Cheers
Awesome. Happy sandy trails Ryan. We keep missing each other on RAGBRAI, cuz I'm a pretty early riser. But this year RAGBRAI again starts in my hometown, Glenwwood, even though I live in Wisconsin now with my native cheeshead wonderful wife, My first Ragbrai (unregistered) was VIII in 1980 when I was 16, which started in Glenwood, of course my parents would not let me go the whole way my dad picked me up in Atlantic, of course I was upset, but by the time I got to Atlantic on a single speed bike I was glad to see my dad. When I watch your RAGBRAI vids we share a lot of friendships with the same folks. Out of all the thousands of people that ride RAGBRAI, I find it rather soulful that I get to see you connect with many of the same people I hook up with, camp with, eat with, laugh and love with. Maybe our paths will cross this year if you decide to show up in GWood.
Olé olé olé oleeeeeeee!!! I know there’s not much bridges to go under to sing at Baja Sur. Happy Birthday Ryan!! Glad you enjoyed our Baja Peninsula.
Ole!!!! I didn’t go under any bridges all week :( But I olè’d anyway
Excellent! The flashback videos at the beginning were helpful for context, and demonstrated the brutality of that route.
And Michael's truck!
Thanks, Ron! I love looking at old footage and seeing how far I've come
Now that's how to end the day. Amazing and can't wait too see the next video. Take care, Al
It was pretty epic!
Happy 2024 and happy to see you on the road again.
Thank you!
Fantastic! Another enjoyable video and incredible adventure. Glad you had an opportunity to hang out with the crew in Los Frailes!
They were so fun
Whooo! Favorite series!
Baja is pretty special!
Amazing first episode Ryan, Happy birthday buddy🎂What a setup Michael has wow👌This is going to be an awesome series👍While I'm typing this we have 60mph winds and rain battering us, was nice to watch this in good weather😉
Yikes! That sounds like crazy weather. Hope you’re getting sunshine today
@@duzer Sunshine in Scotland? 😂wet and windy 😉
Happy belated birthday Ryan! Something pulled me toward your channel this morning, and now I know why. So great to see you attempting to complete the Baja Divide again ...they say the third time is the charm. Haven't been down there since we hosted you in 2020, but your video make me want to go back. Super cool truck and truck people; the turtle symbolic of your taking it slow. Great video! Enjoy the ride!
It’s so good to hear from you!! I was wondering if you still spend time in La Paz. That evening with you was so memorable. And yes, I’m going turtle speed this time around! Sending abrazos your way!
Wow super cool start, fully on board with this one, looking forward to the rest. All the best Ryan
Thanks a ton! Appreciate the support
¡Feliz cumpleaños, amigo! Here’s to 20 years of adventuring and to 50 more. Great video as always.

Yes! Thank you!
Happy birthday Ryan!
Thank you
Happy New Year! Happy Birthday! Great to have a new series of your rides in the middle of Winter.
Thank you!! Stay tuned for more
Great vid Ryan!
Thanks!
The psychological part of a bikepacking trip/adventure is the most essential one, as you just have proved, Ryan. It's essential that you keep your good mood at maximum all the time. It will happen downsides, and it will test you. It is essential that you understand the place you are and what it requires from you.
So true!!! It’s all about attitude
🎉"Happy Birthday" 🎂
Thank you for all your awesome videos, take everything as it comes😅...
More shad for your face, a baseball cap..
Bikepacking is an new adventure...😊
Thank you so much!!
Happy Birthday to you. Hope you have a good Birthday 🎉
Thank you!
Oh friend...I am from India...
A rider just local areas... your videos really inspiring.... your views that you spoke in this video from 15th minutes...to wow ...🥰🥰🥰 I am also believing in human uniqnes and relationships in the globe irrespective of any boarders...👍👍🥰🥰
Thanks a ton
Wow, Baja seems like a totally different world than the snowed in world i know right now as this video is released, lol. Michael picked a good spot. Not sure if it's cabin fever setting in, or just that i love Baja, but i'm looking forward to the rest of this one more than usual.
I’m glad that I can transport you to a warner place ;) Stay tuned for more!
Great stuff Ryan. Loving your content in the UK 🇬🇧
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching
Awesome
Yay🥳
Colorado whoo hoo 🎉
We've spent many nights anchored off Los Frailes on our travels up and down the Mexican Baja in our boat. Seeing it from the land side is a different perspective.
Oh cool!! That’s a beautiful area. So cool that you’ve seen it by boat
Ciao Ryan, ti seguo da tanti anni! Keep pushing! Greetings from Italy
Thank you, my friend! I wanna bike in Italy someday!
Awesome video as always. You should do a cross country ebike video. Loved your Sweden video especially the mosskeeters as we call them here. Take care. Eg miami
Hey thanks!! I love sharing these adventures with the world! And I’ve had my fill of skeeters 😂
So great that you met Mike of drive the globe.
Really fun to meet that guy
Thanks!
Wow!! Thank you so much for your generosity!!!
Happy birthday 🎂🎈🎂 Ryan
Thank you!
Inspiring!
Thanks!
Thank you for your videos, I am a big fan. I am Mexican but due to my work I live in Columbus Ohio.
Very cool!! I love your country
Suggestions for future routes, more rail trails! Edgemont to Deadwood South Dakota and back would be a good 3-4 episode ride, not too far from CO. Also the Great American RailTrail, more specifically from Cincinnati to Washington DC is almost complete with a few road miles in there. Lots of rail trails in Michigan too to basically ride the entire lower peninsula.
Yes!! I’d love to do that someday
So jealous Ryan! A good friend of mine lives in pescadero a couple miles south of Todos Santos…I need to get down there…I haven’t been since the late 90’s…drove down from Colorado and camped and surfed for a month…there was nothing on the camp back then…we barely saw another person
It’s so beautiful down there!
Great video Ryan. Did Michael win the lottery because his lifestyle is incredible and the rig he drives is off the chart!? Looking forward to the next episode. I think Priority Bicycle needs to make the 600X with a titanium frame and/or full suspension. Can you make a FS bike with that drive train? Thanks for sharing your love of bikes and adventure. A pleasure to watch your videos. I hope you will create another Colorado mountain bikepacking trip. Thanks.
Titanium would be awesome, we’re thinking about it!!
Looks like a great trip for a fat bike!
indeed
Happy Birthday!
Thanks, my friend!!
Danke!
Thank you for your generosity
I feel for you. Riding in deep, soft sand is a totally different genre. With all the gear you're carrying, it just compounds the difficulty. Light weight and wide tires are effective. Watching the video, I see you using some of the skills involved with riding in sand. One, ride in vehicle tire tracks. Two, steer using weight shift, instead of steering with the handlebars. Turning the front wheel digs in and you're done. Three, speed matters...the faster you can go, the better you minimize sinking in the sand. But, with the weight and the soft sand, there's just no way anyone can realistically overcome the inherent difficulty you faced on this ride.
Yes to all that, sand riding is a different beast
If I ever did that route it would be on a fat-bike for sure, nothing less than 4 inch wide tires, that is what they are built for!
That’s a good idea
