It is with great sadness that I share this but Jack Tueller passed away earlier today at the age of 95. He joins his beautiful wife of 68 years of marriage, my sister, and many other loved ones on the other side. I love you grandpa and you were a amazing inspiration and I was lucky to have you be a part of my life. Until we meet again colonel...
Hey Jason, just wanted to say cheers to you and your family for your awesome grandfather. Thanks for sharing this, and I hope your family keeps the spirit of Jack alive for many years to come.
I saw this a long time ago. It was after I watched the anime Sora no woto. It's also about the trumpet's harmonious significance in war. Truly beautiful.
I met this man a few days ago. He has so much more to his story than what is on this video. He is amazing and he changed my life. He won't ever know the impact he had on me that day. Ever.
I helped film this in highschool my name is waylon cassity, it was a pleasure to be there with you and learn about your experience. I still have my original copy from the interview 😢
I heard Jack Tueller's story for the first time today on CBC radio. I simply fell apart. What an incredible man! What an incredible human being! Wished I could just hug him.
that's a powerful story we should remember those few who are still alive, those brave men who put their life on the line to save the world and protect their countries
This is a nonsensical fraud. Allied fighter pilots flew out of Great Britain in the initial stages of D - Day, and for a whole bunch of logistical reasons, it was a long time before ANY were established on the continent.
My grandpa died in January, 2010. That entire generation was remarkable, special, badass even. Talk to these people, get first hand testimoney, write it down, record it as long as you still can. That is all. Thank you.
This man Is amazing thank yuo for serving our country your music is wonderfull I donty evehn know if he can see this but if so rest in peace MR Tueller. RIP
Jacks heart is like a garden. Growing compassion in face of fear or resentment, his choice was love. My heart goes out to u Jack, i want to plant the seeds of compassion just like u !
I love you Jack, my great friend and mentor! Your a great man ! You would be going crazy if you were still alive, to see what is happening to this great country you fought for !
Such a heartwarming account. And it just goes to show you that no matter what, we are all human beings, with feelings, emotion, and above all, families that love us. What many people fail to realize, was that many German soldiers did NOT want to be fighting. They did not want this war being waged. But they had no choice. The Nazi leadership enacted a strict draft, resulting in the average age of soldiers being only 23 years old. Those who refused, were punished severely.
From the bottom of my heart thank you for your service to your country and for fighting for my life, without even knowing me you risked your life on earth for the good of your country. God bless you and God bless America.
That's a real man im proudfor what he did bc im sure alot of ppl won't say they were scared but we're all Hunan n we all have emotions.... that's amazing
This video says so much in two mins i have so much respect for you Jack Tuller and everybody who fought , lived and died in world war 1 and World war 2 if it wasnt for you people like you we would probably not be here today Thank You :)
If you liked this story watch the movie Into The White it's about 3 german soldiers and 2 british soldiers that crash in norway and have to survive together it's a real story and an amazing movie :)
I am so lucky to be related to this amazing man. He is my wifes great uncle. Men like Jack Tuelles are the reason we enjoy the freedoms we have today. He will never know how much it meant to me to hear of his faith in God, and his dedication to the cause of liberty. I salute you Col. Tueller!
this man has seen and been through more than most of you will go through in a lifetime. just consider that before you go and make some rude comment about him.
This is a nonsensical fraud. Allied fighter pilots flew out of Great Britain in the initial stages of D - Day, and for a whole bunch of logistical reasons, it was a long time before ANY were established on the continent.
You're close; the medal between the Silver Star and the DFC is the Legion of Merit. Usually worn as a neck order, it is one degree of precedence before the DFC The small devices on some of his ribbons are called "oak leaf clusters" for multiple citations. So Col. Tueller holds two Legions of Merit, two DFCs, and multiple Air Medals. The medal in the second row, center, is the WW2 Victory Medal. To think, given all he's seen to earn those decorations, that a song is still such a strong memory.
Anybody that will dislike this video has no respect. Sure, if you don't like it than go ahead, that's what that button is there for, but this man doesn't deserve your dislikes.
I never say anything about the people who dislike videos because i know it's just to be stupid, but seriously? This man is a hero and a true American, something that in todays day in age is seriously lacking, I wish i could shake his hand. If you dislike this video American or not, you might be the most cold hearted piece of garbage on this Earth.
I am a musician. I have a friend that is a lover of words, so naturally we've discussed which is, for the lack of a better word (even though I know there is a better word), better: words or music. If this man can't convince her then nothing can. But on another note, this man makes me wonder, when will I have powerful experiences like that. I can only feel empty when my I'm surrounded by a culture of TV and facebook. =/

Thank you for sharing this about your wonderful grandfather. An honor you have in sharing his genes.
His story is now eternalised and he reached so many people...and counting!
We thank him for his service and his humanity amidst that dreadful war.
"I stuck out my hand and shook the hand of the enemy, he was no enemy, he was as scared and lonely like me. . . The power of music"
Says it all.

RIP Jack, and thank you for both your service and these beautiful words.
I heard Jack Tueller's story for the first time today on CBC radio. I simply fell apart. What an incredible man! What an incredible human being! Wished I could just hug him.
Only people who had nothing from the start are the ones that truly know how to appreciate what they had and what they have. Bless this man.
The power of music is amazing. It can change lives, destroy hate, create friendship, and stamp memories that are forever remembered..
I salute you Mr. Tueller. You are a great American and we all thank you for your service.
