Now that you say that about raising the bucket and it releases the drive again.. it sounds like a priority valve issue.. raising the bucket resets it and then it works.. in the system there are valves that work to optimize the flow of fluid so the function being used has sufficient flow and pressure to work correctly. If that valve opens at the wrong time it can send fluid back to the tank bypassing the other systems..But also check your system pressure and your relief valves. I’ve seen broken springs in relief valves cause similar issues.. I doubt very seriously that you have a pump or drive motor problem because when they go bad nothing works at all anytime.. feel free to message me, if you have any questions.. Retired 48 years of experience mechanic.. Thanks for the great entertainment..
Yep. Valve is sticking orCould be lift Pressure valve some older machines had pedal to. Rev up or dig high power ? Or drive motor could be. Sticking or. Failing. Or. A Sensor
Aside from being so skillful with all your projects you do around your homestead, I’d like to say the editing and quality of the videos showing us said projects is top notch. I hope to see many more to come.
My son has said that each fwheel provides the ground for the brakes. If a ground wire from any individual wheel gets disconnected, the wheel locks up.check the wiring on that wheel and the switching between there ans the power.
Heath and Cedar, Love everything you are doing at Red Poppy Ranch. Just got my t shirt and hat in the mail. It arrived so quickly and with a personal note inside! Your family and videos keep my aspiration to have a piece of private land of my own one day! Thank you again all the way from California!
Always happy to see your progress and family's progress on here. Hopefully your boy gets his truck on the road very soon and enjoys it as any kid would.
Great to see one of your brothers could come visit. You speak of them fondly and always wish you could see them more. Great video, you'll get that skid steer figured out, you are a man driven. Your son's truck looks great!
If you're going to use the gooseneck hitch, consider getting some 3/8" or 1/2" plates to connect the bed frame down to the truck frame in the area of the hitch. If you look at how commercial gooseneck hitches are built, they always flat-plate the hitch frame to the truck frame; this is to prevent the hitch from twisting relative to the truck under torsional loads from accelerating and braking with the trailer loaded. The bed looks great- it's a good match for that truck. 👍
Cedar is going to have a great looking truck. I’m looking forward to seeing it finished. You sir know how to make things happen. One day we will see you work on something in that shop instead of in front of it. It’s like my garage, I haven’t worked on anything inside of it since we bought the house.
Hello from Tokyo, Japan. I like the house stuff/property stuff more than the vehicle stuff but it's still fun to see you so excited about trouble shooting and fixing up your "big boy toys". Have fun with your brother while he's there.
You got 2 identical drivelines.. Switch over left and right solenoid. If same problem. Switch valves If same problem. Check voltage at temperature. Then pressure. Motor.. Best wishes form Norway
The bed looks awesome, we're looking at beds right now for our farm truck. I'll make sure to shop Bradford beds, hope I spelled it correctly, but either way we'll check them out. Enjoy spending time with your family. Godspeed
Hubby has 40 years experience with trucks/equipment/towing. He watched the video and recommended that you weld reinforcing plates on the frame extensions. Without them, the welds will crack and break. He really knows his stuff. Hope this helps.
As well as your videos which have watched from the build - I’m lovin the music you play you should make some play lists. Hope your all well and stay safe - From the Uk
I plow snow commercially here in New England, and I’ll get the skid stick every once and a while stacking snow. Best way I’ve found, unless you’re seriously stuck, is to stick the shovel down into the snow so it contacts the ground and use it as a lever to push yourself backwards. Works almost every time 🤙
I've used the Lucas hydro stuff in many things most notable my l70 volvo payloader w/ 23k hours on it. Stuff works great on older stuff I'll note it takes some hours to start working and really helping to mix in well
That is exactly where I was sending you to check it out, Those are needing to be clean and emery cloth clean and it will change everything. It has orings for seals
You mentioned tipping over the skid steer. One thing that will make the difference between life and death is the seat belt. The pull down bar will not retain you in the Roll Over Protection if it rolls. The seat belt will. Seen a few to many deaths when the seat belt was not used when they rolled. Be safe Brother. Love what you do and look forward to all of you future videos.
I just watched a video you posted a while ago of the 3 year time lapse. I have been following along with channel from around when you started building your home. I commented this on the 3 year video, I am not sure if you would see it or not so I’m going to comment it here as well. You could think about making the patio with the door in the living room into an addition to have a mud room, linen closet and/or guest bedroom then put the front door on the wall in the addition facing the shop, that goes into a mud room with a large entry way leading you to the living room and kitchen where the front door would use to be. Then you could think about moving the back door that’s in the kitchen to go out of the laundry room. With the back door going out through the laundry room would not only give you quicker access to that side of the house but also a better spot for your dining room table or even a bigger one. Just a suggestion I have been thinking about commenting for a while, following along with your vlogs.
Measure the resistance of the solenoid coils... look in your wiring box from dismantled trucks and see if you can hook several lamps with sockets together to match the resistance of the solenoid coils.. rig those up to install them for testing instead of a solenoid.. now you can load test the solenoid control circuits without burning them out.
I like your thinking on cleaning that part. I do the same with injectors when others just replace them. Usually, the car is already old enough that it's not worth it. Then if I do need a part there is always the local wreck yard.
Hi from the UK.. We have oil temp sensors.. And oil press sensors... that we fit on our units... as you said after 45 mind things change..then with the bucket things happen again... so oil lines to bucket are cold..this mite be temp sensor..then ad cold bucket lines cool things down...other lines come back to play... just a little thort here... keep up the great vids.. we all enjoy what you are doin :)
Heath, You got quite a bit done this week. That's great to see. The SkidSteer really seems to be a thorn in your side right now? Hopefully your friend will have an idea what's going on with it. Keep Safe, Peace, Happiness, Love and Laughter Always, Matt - Toronto, Canada
Nice work. I had at least 6 inches of crud in the base of my 5635. I drilled a drain hole in both skid plates. Couldn't see my dip stick, moved the dip to other side of the intake too, yours looks better. Getting on 2 wheels is fun!! Chains may help, but tracks will fix that sliding, but pricey. I welded chain hooks on the buckets too, work great. My oil was nasty, yours looked way better. Sounds like you have a valve issue with the drive motors. They usually work or not. I like coopers and that alum bed!
The New Alum Bed Looks Great! The skid steer will be a simple fix, step away and think about it. It will come to you.. Y'all Take Care & Stay Safe. ~ Carl & Judy Lamar County, ALABAMA. ~
Just a tip, if you can lock the boom up before shutting it off, do that. Then raise up the cab. Makes accessing things much easier. I learned that on our Deere.
Heath you have been busy this week my friend.still messing around with the skid steer but you will figure it out still but my guess is still a Hydraulic valve sticking or actuator. Now you have the boy and the wife fixed up its going to be a pretty good spring . be careful and stay safe my friend.
Just a word of advice from someone who has some history with tire chains on 4WD trucks, tractors, ATVs, snowblowers, and various other pieces of equipment on snow and ice. Try to find chains that have lugs on the cross links. They make all the difference in the world and are worth the extra money! This skid steer is turning into quite the project. I hope your expertise is up to the challenge. We're all pulling you. I hope it proves worth it. If you get it running properly, I'd put it right to work this summer on that road of yours.
I would strongly suggest tracks over chains for the skid steer, especially with the mud in the snow, the metal over the wheel tracks work really well and give you lots of traction and flotation, it seems like the wheeled skid steer‘s always end up stuck or sliding. I’m sure chains would help but tracks would give you flotation and much better traction and help you in the mud as well.
Yeah look into tracks to the metal ones that go over the wheels they are great for snowy and icy conditions put them on at winter’s beginning take them off at the end
Husband observed that the underlying mechanical issue may well be downstream from the pump itself .... Great video, as always, even though I don't know the first thing about mechanics.
It is always good troubleshooting practice when diving into an unknown project to verify the basics, the simple things first, solenoid coils;..measure the coil resistance with an Ohm meter, if within normal range apply Voltage and see if they actuate, As for the drive motors acting up after a while, check hyraulic fluid filters, screens, oil levels first!
Heath, I notice as your working on the skid steer, you're reaching over the arms as I was doing when working on my Bobcat. However, the first line in the Bobcat repair manual is to raise the arms and insert the cylinder lock. i just about skipped this step as I couldn't figure out why. Now after watching you try to strain to reach things, just wanted to give you a tip. It makes a night and day difference working on the skid steer. It puts the work at a more accessible spot, almost workbench height.
As others have mentioned...an electrical grounding at all contact points...especially at the solenoids...and possibly a valve issue can have these effects.
Friend of mine had a similar timing related problem with his engine. There the problem turned out to be a fuel line that lodged itself on the exhaust pipe. Hydraulic fluid can also develope a gas phase when getting hot. Have a look if any hydraulic line touches the exhaust pipe or a different hot part that could create a gas/steam bubble in your hydraulic system!
Liking the beard! It looks nice. I didn't like seeing you grind the frame pieces off with no eye protection. Be safe! I am sure it's nice to have some family visit!
Perhaps using ATP AT-205 Reseal. I've used it on engine, transmission and rack and pinion units. It works very well, unless the seals and O rings, unless they are broken unserviceable.

Nice job with the new flatbed, looking good !
you need to spend less time shilling and more time educating yourself as to how to not to destroy your equipment.

He does read and answer helpful email as well
You have a valid point Doug. To bad he’s not reading the comments.
@Alex Sotnik. A look see in the hydraulic tank is a good call Alex.
I was worried, it is Sunday but no Red Poppy Ranch. And then..... Woohoo!.
Aside from being so skillful with all your projects you do around your homestead, I’d like to say the editing and quality of the videos showing us said projects is top notch. I hope to see many more to come.
Did you kick the tires?! Maybe you should kick the tires! (That's the extent of my mechanical expertise!) I'm glad I could help, lol!

Your readers are a great bunch; safe Spring to family.
Going to go see my older brother for his 50 th birthday this coming weekend! Can't wait! Having brothers is awesome!
Happy spring time. Love from New Zealand. Xx
I love it, Bro shows up and doesn't hesitate to jump right in to help before even saying hello!
Love that crew cab. Can't wait to see more of it's build.

Nice effect at around 21:44 ... Heath you're a magician too 😂
It's always fun to work with a brother or son on a project.
Loved your newest commercial. Can't wait for the next actual video.
Flatbed looks brilliant. 👏🏻
Truck bed looks awesome!!
That truck is gonna be fyre!
Looks like you are making progress on the skid steer. Really happy for work on the truck project! I think we need a recap of priority of projects!
Love the aluminum flatbed look !
Perfect fit for the Red Poppy Ranch going to town truck.
The truck looks so nice
You got 2 identical drivelines..
Switch over left and right solenoid.
If same problem. Switch valves
If same problem. Check voltage at temperature.

Top notch trouble shooting. Good advice.
hydraulic lines too.. every have a break line delaminate inside and keep a break caliper locked down on the disk?

As well as your videos which have watched from the build - I’m lovin the music you play you should make some play lists.
Hope your all well and stay safe - From the Uk
Gooseneck hitch, is a ball. The "5th" wheel is like a semi. Seeing what you have, I'd says it's a gooseneck. Nice looking bed.

I have watched dang near all of your videos and i have to say im jealous your one damn good man and a great carpenter
Dang Heath is there anything you can’t do ! Amazing how much you know . I pray your children learn whst you know !
Looking like such a sweet ride. Multi functional and dripping with style, such that you two may need to work out a sharing schedule. Lol!

Bradford beds are made about a 90 minute drive from where I live. I've always thought they were an awesome looking bed.
