For one, many characters have representation: Arisu is literally a pronciation of Alice, Cheshiya is the Cheshire Cat (which is why he's always calmly watching), Usagi means rabbit, and Kuina is supposed to be the Caterpillar. Also, for the Jack of Hearts game, there was actually a scene cut from the Manga with people deciding whether to join, and they didn't want to go in as a group because hearts games often turn you against your allies! We saw that in the heart game where Arisu lost his friend... So people would be more likely to go in solo.
