If the firefighter was heading to an emergency, then he is not 100% at fault. The pedestrian in this case should take some responsibility for delaying an emergency vehicle from getting to its destination.

For anyone confused, this rule also applies for emergency vehicles passing a stopped school bus with red lights flashing and their stop sign out. The emergency vehicle must come to a full stop at the appropriate distance in front or behind the school bus and may only proceed after the bus has turned off its flashing red lights. Pedestrian safety takes priority regardless of what the emergency situation is.

0:46 so what you saying is that emergency vehicles must stop at all pedestrian crossing when the lights are activated on the cross walk?

yep this is a SJW's dream now fools are going to abuse this every time they have a chance to go through a cross walk while hearing sirens. I assume this also applies to cop cars.

not really stop...but emergency vehicles are supposed to be vigilant to pedestrians and crossing traffic...ensure that it is stopped before they proceed

It is not illegal to speed whilst responding.

People got to stop listening to their headphones in their ear I'm sure the fire department had their sirens on

kid was probably vaping heard the sirens and thought she was going to get arrested for breaking the law. She froze and got hit.

James ... You're right, good chance she was wearing earbuds, but that does not excuse the driver from breaking a long standing and obvious law...do not pass stopped vehicles at a crosswalk. The driver should have brought the truck to a full stop and then proceeded at a crawl only when he had determined that it was safe to do so.

So if a child is crossing at a intersection on a green light and gets hit they are okay but because it was a crosswalk he gets charged??? Something is not right here.

Lack of training on both sides caused this. Firefighter should have known to stop. Kid should have stayed put.

@I & J Lopez Zavala It's ironic that the live savers, hurt the people they trying to save... Either way, consequences and punishment should be dealt regardless.
