The most popular use for this kit is building what they call a REM POD, used for ghost hunting.

I just came across this product on Amazon, came across you, funny, humble, Good guy, good content, I learned a lot, thank you. The first thing I thought of was ghost pod!!! Your amazing keep inviting, stay humble, God bless ❤
Looking like a project for sure try and do it one handed, lol.
    Yaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!
    Take care my friend.
All the soder crap should have come pre-assembled the rest of it whatever, kit or not, just my thoughts 🤔 🙄 😒

A nail brush and some bag balm go a long way

Late to the party but I prefer XCelite cutters. They're comfortable, you can cut a bunch of normal resistor leads at once with them and they're great for sprues if you also paint miniatures

I just ordered one to play with. I won’t be building it per instructions exactly but looks like a fun build to follow as instructed. Also love the closeups. I was wondering what I was getting in this kit.

I ordered 3 and put one together...it doesn't work, only when I press both switches then only 2 led light for a second. I did a second kit same issues.😭

    Hi Chris,
my thoughts about the The orange lead trimmer and bender:
The Leads are bent down completely to the Board. So there is a big risk of producing shortcuts with the nearby traces.
Also changing components with bent down leads is a pain in the ass.
I prefer to bend the leads just a little bit outwards so the parts won't fall out (about 30 degrees). After soldering they are trimmed.
And when using the tool you should bend the wires in opposite directions (to the outside of the component). Only by doing it so the components can't drop out of the board before soldering.

Something that will greatly speed up the building process, as well as make that flux pen last longer between refills (yes, it is refillable), is to get into the habit of fully stuffing all the components on the board, then go around and flux/solder everything in one go. That way you don't have to clean your iron for each component, or use a whole pump of the flux pen for every component, et cetera.
If there are difficult (weird height, or need top access, etc) components, I still prefer to stuff and solder all the resistors, then stuff and solder all the caps, yadda yadda. Keeps me from forgetting one resistor stuck down between two tall things, for example.

I’m a total beginner with trying soldering and starting with this same board. What is the point of the flux pen on the connector? Is it a must have or could you skip that if you don’t have one

the regulator is a 78L05 5 volt regulator in what is known as a TO(transistor outline)-92 package

they use R in place of the ohms symbol on some resistors especially ones in the ohms range (below 1k) and as the decimal point marker for single digit and fractional ohms etc. the white block is a cap (polyester/MKT) 0.1µF at 63V, you will get used to reading cap values and resistors eventually

Hi could I trouble you (or anyone who may read this) for some possible help? I put together this junior theremin, but when I checked it, it works for a few seconds but then it gets stuck and just rings loud. I wish there was a way to send a video so you could see exactly what it’s doing. In fact if you touch the antenna you can hear the proper sounds underneath the high pitch ringing. Any ideas ?

I have this in a trigger toy I use for ghosthunting it stopped working so I took it apart and have the lights and motherboard. Everything is attached and I tried a new battery but still nothing. Can you help. ??

If you extend the leads on the LEDs will it have enough power to work them? I’m thinking around 6 inches at most.

      Yes, that would work fine.

irritate me that those kits are writing 100R ..tho R is a way to say resistance..

Hey Chris, I spent time putting this together and it wont work. Is there an easy way to tell where I f’d up?

Debugging is half the lesson. :) Send me detailed pics and I can try to find the mistake.

Hey chris you prob wont see this but hoe do you extend the led lights add an on off switch and an external antenna on this kit?? And thank you for the the step by step most only do the start skip finish which sucks for amateurs?

    • @Physicsduck
      @Physicsduck  4 года назад +1

I read every comment ;) Thank you for watching! If you want to extend the LEDs, just put wires in place of the connection pins on the board and connect them to your LED. Just make certain to get the polarity right or it won't work. An antenna is the same way, but you may get some weird results trying that. Experiment and see! :)

Hey chris just me again Paul everything you said was great and worked but i was wondering instead of an antenna could you use a proximity sensor or is that a completely different circuit board altogether?
