Just followed your instructions and it was reasonably straightforward to remove. Several years ago I replaced the same alternator by lowering the AC compressor and motor mount. Your way is much better. I recommend putting the car up on ramps and removing the side trim allowing better access to the serpentine belt. It makes removal and installation of the belt easier. I used the opportunity to change the serpentine belt and radiator hoses. Thanks again.

This guy is legit. Just did it myself. Thanks! Tips....I had to remove the motor cover. Yes, you have to remove the dipstick bracket and bend it. The fans are tricky but they do come out. The Serpentine belt is a bi**h to get back on, had to do from underneath. Would post on Hyundai forum but the site is impossible. Splitting the frame and going out the bottom may work at the garage, but this here is the best method for shadetree mechanics!

I did exactly the same, this guy is very legit. Hell yeah the belt remounting is a whole different story, almost got hurt and spent an hour. If you want to do that, I recommend having someone to help and it is more easier to access the belt by removing the right wheel and the protection. While you loosen the belt using the tensioner, the second person should pull the belt on the alternator

Thanks, this helped a bunch. I had replaced the radiator, some years ago, so remembered how fun it was removing radiator fans! LOL

I recalled the plug has a pop up where I had to pressed down before I can remove. You have to make sure you had ordered an exact alternator fit because two times auto parts gave me two different alternators even though they both look exactly the same except the amps and the plug configuration different. Check your old plug configuration versus new one.

Hello Sir, I'm installed a alternator on the same vehicle, but was having trouble reinstalling the serpentine belt. Were you able to get the belt on without removing the passenger side wheel?
    Thanks

Can you show how to get the fans out. Having trouble and can't figure it out.

Hi, sorry for not reply to you soon enough. Hope you had already gotten the fans out. If you haven’t, both fans come out toward the battery side. The fan near the battery will have to remove by sliding toward the battery and upward. You have to remove all the bolts and harness connection to the fan. You have to be careful not to damage the condenser or radiator. The other fan from the passenger side, you need to slide to toward the driver side fan that you removed earlier and pull it out the same way as the driver side fan. I think you also have to remove brackets attached to engine block for lateral clearance so that you can slide the passenger side fan to the driver side fan position before wiggle it upward. I think if the engine compartment is about one inch wider between the engine and the fans and one inch wider from alternator to the front quarter panel then the job of do-it-yourself would be much easier. I hope this will help. Be patient with wiggling laterally across with the alternator as well. Alternator can only wiggle out at the battery location. Good Luck!

Do you think you can take off front wheel and splash guard and pull it out from the wheel well?

@@familydw9215 I finally got the fans out after taking apart front end of vehicle. 1st I took off the rock protector under front of car. Then I took off entire front bumper and grille one piece. Then removed headlights. Not sure if I actually needed to remove headlights. Then I took out all bolts that hold the front end frame to vehicle. I think there were about ten bolts. Then unbolted four bolts for fans Two at top of each fan. Then I was able to pull frame forward enough to remove fans. Then I removed alternator. I had to take off one idler pulley that was blocking one alternator lower bolt. I did that by taking off passenger tire and into plastic guard. Then put it all back together.

I don't see how the fans got out of that area especially with part on the driver's side blocking the top frame of the first fan.

I stopped watching after he disconnected the positive cable. Not sure what training he received but you always disconnect the Neg cable that’s one easy way to have a bad day if you short to ground the positive side of the battery!

Thanks Rick for pointing that out. I am aware of the possibility of the wrench touching the grounding part such as a fender. In the old days, battery location terminals situated at a location where a wrench can touch a fender when removing the positive battery terminal. Car manufacturers changed the possibility of a wrench touching any grounding body when removing battery terminals. Also, many electrical components require to be turned on. Even that, the worst case would be resultant from a burning fuse. Most electrical components have fuses. Anyhow, the possibility of creating an electrical spark is when using a jumping cable to jump start a another car.
When I was young, I used another 12v battery to zap my just installed alarm vehicle. I was interested to find out if car thieves can disable my car alarm by using burning the fuse. Well, it did not. I think due to the large metal area of the vehicle just like it is not possible to electrocute a person from a large body of water like rivers, lakes, and ocean. For example, if you attach both negative and positive terminals to the body of a vehicle for a long period of times where a battery will get hot and likely to damage the battery cells or any thinnest piece of wires/metals.
