Bonnie revealed that it was scrapped because she mispronounced “fatale” and it was too last minute for changes. I don’t get it though because if they’re gonna have britney sing it, they could just tell her to pronounce it the correct way for the final version

Ok well I just heard the up n down demo and it was v obviously they just painted over that demo w Britney’s vocals (but it’s all reinforced by the demo beneath). Femme fatale took 2 years to record so how exactly did they run outta minutes? Like how jlo recorded a bunch of songs.
@@Chris-tn9bf yeah i agree with that, they might’ve wanted to keep the chorus with the same vocals with the effect so they were probably just lazy and didnt wanna re do it. I herad this was late 2010 and the album was pretty much finished.
What I love about the song is how Bonnie incorporated (either consciously or not) so much of Britney lore we’re all familiar with. “You think I look sweet, you want to own me, I know I’m making your heart pound” screams Oops!’s “I’m not that innocent” or Slave’s “I know I may come off quiet, may come off shy, but I feel like talking feel like dancing when I see this guy.” Then with “I’m on a mission like a magician, I’m gonna use an illusion” is like the most perfect callback to the Circus tour and the entire magic segment lol It’s criminal they didn’t let Britney record this

This makes me wonder if songs like Blackout, In The Zone and Glory exist 😭😭 The thought of it makes my world tremble fr. This is a bop!! A little polishing and it would be better. I just came from Bonnie’s TikTok and it’s sad that because of the mispronunciation they discarded the song, this would’ve been a good song to end the standard edition of the album if it had a better outro like Till The World Ends, or maybe as the opening track, but this is a solid track.

Completely disagree sorry. The chorus drop is very empty, generic, trashy and lazy. It totally ruins it. The song doesn’t compare to Inside Out, Selfish, He About to Lose Me etc which I’m so glad don’t have drops. Glad it wasn’t included. Although, it’s a shame Big Fat Bass HIAM and TTWE were not discarded with it. I HATE drops.
SMH. If Bonnie's pronunciation was really the reason, then... these people are really stupid. Whatever stopped Britney from pronouncing it correctly? Especially that the number of syllables wouldn't have changed and the flow o the topline wouldn't have been disturbed?
