Nice review! I've been eyeing one for a while. Can you speak to the differences of the true authentic BG2FX radios built by him in Japan vs the Chinese variant? I believe the Chinese one to be a knock-off, but wondered if it was still of decent quality.
Hi... Thank you! No, I haven't read or seen anything comparing the two. The Chinese one i have here is excellent quality, the case machining is beautifully made. Not sure about the internal electronic components comparing them. I think it depends on whether or not they chose high quality Chinese components.
@@hamradiocomms Fair enough, thanks for getting back with me. I've seen some folks say only buy the proper version by him but I've been waiting months and he's still not selling them. Not sure how else to get one other than the Chinese version. May just go that route and see how it is! Looks like a cool little rig.
@@KyleSoldani I just remembered that the designer is Chinese and lives in China so I don't think there is a Japanese version. There may be clones of his design maybe that aren't so good made elsewhere in China but I don't know that source I only know of his radios.. yes the wait could be very long.
@@hamradiocomms Yep sure enough, I was definitely mistaken. Yu made mention in the FB group you 'can' buy other radios but he won't support the hardware on them unless purchased through him, as other sellers are not authorized. Finally got my hands on one and I love it so far! Pretty cool machine in such a small package.
Why does it need to be uniform? I talk to people outside the US all the time the DX or international phonetic for U is United … there’s no need to keep switching back and forth when talking to US contacts and DX … everyone can understand what it is … just don’t make up words, which is discouraged. I use it because in my call sign sequence uniform is much harder to say than United. Though Uniform is the NATO recognized word for U and it’s suggested try to use all the standard words I find on DXING often certain English words are difficult for non English speakers to hear, hence the DXers words that are often used … see the list I posted below.
@@hamradiocommsDX phonetics? Why do DX phonetics need to be different to NATO? I’ve never in my 40+ years heard ANYONE use “England” is this a CB thing?
Jeez, Bub, finest kind of radio you got theyah!!!
Love that slow AGC. Will be nice for rag chews. I think I would speed it up a bit for quicker contacts though.

Thank you for the review. May have to add this to my collection someday.
You’re welcome. Thank you for watching and the comment!

does it have a memory voice/cw keyer?
I don’t believe it does, no mention in manual or menus.
It's "uniform"

Well done! de KI5DPA
Thank you! 😊
What antenna are you using?
I’m using a 52ft end fed antenna with a homemade 9:1 unun at only 15 ft above ground and a 32ft counterpoise wire
