    Thanks for the video! I've played this several times but totally missed that you only get to place a limited number of additional hotspots during the game. Maybe that is why some games were so difficult as hotspots piled up without limit!

    I have only one question after watching both of the videos: is there even a slight chance of winning in this game???

  • @LankanLatino
    @LankanLatino 7 лет назад +2

    Question about the hotspot Flare Ups. Do they only get triggered on a "Advance Fire" roll? that is to say, if there's an unrelated explosion which chains into an empty hotspot space, does that cause another explosion? What if I go to a hotspot space on fire, reduce it to smoke, then later a new adjacent fire is made which turns the smoke to fire in the hotspot space. Is that another explosion? Or must it only be when you're begining the "Advance Fire" phase with the initial roll? (or subsequent rolls from previous hotspot hits)

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  7 лет назад +5

      The way the rules say it is:
      "When the Target Space of the Advance Fire roll contains a Hot Spot you have triggered a Flare Up and will roll to Advance the fire an additional time. First complete the current Advance Fire, then roll the dice again and Advance the Fire. A turn is not limited to one, two, or even three Flare Ups. Keep adding rolls every time the Advance Fire Target Space contains a Hot Spot."
      So this tells me you only only activate hot spits during an Advance fire roll that targets a Hot Spot specifically. Hope that helps!

      I had exactly the same question

  • @khornschemeier
    @khornschemeier Год назад

    I realize this is an old video, but I just got the game and the section about Hot Spot resolution has the wrong order of operations for when to resolve Flare Ups. First, take a look at the Turn Order card at 6:56 and then the section of the rules on Hot Spots and Flare Ups that says, "When the Target Space of the Advance Fire roll contains a Hot Spot you have triggered a Flare Up and will roll to Advance the fire an additional time. First complete the current Advance Fire, then roll the dice again and Advance the Fire." There's a section below this that details the Order of Resolution even more concretely than the Turn Order card shown.
    An Advance Fire action consists of rolling and resolving Smoke, resolving Explosions, resolving Flashovers, and resolving Hazmats. When you roll a target spot that contains a Hot Spot you would go through all of those steps first and then roll again to resolve the Flare Up. Continue doing that until you've resolved an Advance Fire action that didn't hit a Hot Spot and add the Hot Spot for that last Flare Up. Then resolve Knockdowns and Lost POIs and Victims.
    The big difference here is that Flashovers and Hazmat explosions will create more fire and more Hot Spots that subsequence Flare Up rolls can hit, which you wouldn't have by doing all the Flare Ups first and then doing the Flashover and Hazmat explosions.
    Hope that helps!

      Hey Kevin, you're likely coming to this with fresher eyes than I am, but I "think" the video is saying the same thing, but perhaps not in the same amount of detail that you are. At 7:02 I'm saying that if fire goes into a space with a hotspot, you Advance Fire again, which is meant to say that you "go through all the sub-steps of the Advance Fire step (ie. from the top of the list shown on the player aid)" - which would include all of the steps you are saying. Know what I mean. Or are we saying different things. Again, forgive me, as it has been awhile since I shot this :)

    • @khornschemeier
      @khornschemeier Год назад

      @@WatchItPlayed Viewing it again, I can see it both ways. You mentioned after targeting a Hot Spot area to finish any Explosions and Shockwaves (I think those remarks would be easy to miss since you're not showing them and you're showing the Flare Ups one after another, and you also didn't mention finishing Flashovers and Hazmats first as well). But where I think it is incorrect is after the last Flare Up, at 8:01, you say, "remember after rolling for new fire placement and resolving any explosions, *flare ups*, and shockwaves, smoke will turn into fire" and then you mention resolving Hazmats.
      Part of the reason I even paid that much attention is because we played for the first time last night and I did the same thing :). I resolved Explosions and Shockwaves, then rolled for the Flare Up and so on, and only after the last Flare Up did I do the Flashovers and Hazmats. So I can see what you're saying about how the video is trying to say the correct thing, but I think (maybe pedantically!) that the order shown, along with that extra word about Flare Ups happening first, could be confusing as to the order that everything resolves in. It's also just really easy to mess that up during the game even with the Turn Order card!

    maybe a silly question, but I noticed the arrows have different colors (red, yellow, blue). Does this make any difference in game?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  7 лет назад +4

      You'll find this discussed at 9:01 in the video. The different colors, just give you a sense of the "rings" of movement, that POIs will get pushed in as you look for an available space. It's also explained at the bottom of page 10 of the rules (it might be a little easier to understand if you refer to the the diagram shown with the rule).

    Do secured hazmat token count as one of the 7 rescued 'victims'. The rules say, they should be placed in the rescue zone. What is the reason, they should be placed there?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  5 лет назад +1

      It does not count as a rescued victim. I'm not sure why they decided to have players put it there. You technically could put it somewhere else, if you wanted to.

    1 thing i wondering this game why do we have to always remove 1 false alarm and 2 victim tokens ? what the point ?? because every game you remove these same 3 tokens every games so it make no random in this game isnt it ?? or i missed some thing ?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  6 лет назад +3

      I believe the different levels of difficulty adjust which tokens you use (don't have the rule book in front of me to check).

    • @morten28101993
      @morten28101993 4 года назад +2

      This is because you have tree extra tokens 1 false alarm and 2 victims so that if some gets lost you won't be missing some. So the reason why you remove these is so that you aæways have 10 victims and 5 false alarms in the game
