This is my favorite rendition of this piece. I've never heard that extraordinary performance at 'Presto con allegrezza' section, which is ridiculously difficult to play without mistakes. He never missed any notes of this piece, even many great pianists often make mistakes.(especially 5:12, that part is the most cleanest performance I've ever heard) This rendition must deserve to be more popular.
Undoubtedly the best version on RUclips, I met Lubiancev in a competition and we went with Feodor Amirov together to have dinner, they both are great artists and personalities.
A fantastic performance. Whilst I don’t agree with everything, some phrases are very quickly passed through, and some textures are confusing, he plays with really creativity and clearly deeply understands this complex music. The climax is particularly well judged. I wish there were more performances like this floating around.
It is one of the pieces which perfectly separates those who can and who can't play piano. For those who can't play piano, it is sort of "unbeatable" (even unreadable) quest. For those who can play, it is one of the biggest "joy" in the world... Scriabin knew how to write music for those who can play. (like f.e. Ravel, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev etc.)
this is one is one of the versions i like the most... the contrasts between the ecstatic sections and the explosives one, i feel it true to the poem. I would love to know who helped him build his interpretation, or if it's intirely by Alexander... memorable version. Thanks for sharing with video correction in the last section!.
While I think this is a good performance, I think he missed some opportunities for expressiveness. Many phrases and inner voices were glossed over, in my opinion. Yes, it’s marked “presto”, but that is no excuse for not shaping phrases and giving them dynamic direction. His expressiveness in slower sections was excellent. It just didn’t translate to the fast sections. Also, I don’t think his playing was as clean as was claimed. Yes, it was MUCH better than many pianists who slop their way through this piece with countless wrong notes. But even many of his correct notes weren’t clear. This is a horrifyingly difficult piece. I’ve studied and performed it (over 40 years ago, my old arthritic fingers couldn’t handle it now), so I’m fully aware of the pitfalls as well as the joys of this sonata.

Judging by the extreme difficulty of his compositions, Scriabin must have been the among the best pianists in history if not the best.
Anyone who has played this sonata knows how difficult it is to play it like this..
I know :D
One of the hardest.

@ I would say it separates simple mortal pianists from out of the world aliens like Lubyantsev
Fantastic performance.
Best performance of this piece. Why this didn't win Lubyantsev the gold generates as much mystery as Scriabin's enigmatic work itself.
Thanks for posting
