I have Swahili family specifically Bajun from Lamu. I grew up eating Swahili foods. Nothing in Kenya can compare to Swahili foods. The mbaazi with mahamri really slaps. Next time ask them for ukwaju juice. You're going to love it.
Don't forget Indian workers were brought to East Africa and the Caribbean in the late 1800's by the British. That's how chapati's became one of the staple meals in East Africa and Roti's in the Caribbean Islands.
