Stone, Sand, and Stream -

Nestled against the rugged Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Great Sand Dunes National Park is the North America's tallest sand deposit. These dunes continue to grow, albeit at an extremely slow pace while the two streams, Medano and Sand Creeks, continue to bring sand from the mountains and deposit it at the dune field.
