Yes - Blood Spatter dice AFTER Halloween. For, I am a master of the RUclips Algorithm.
Every holiday is a blood holiday, whether it's themed, soaked or just underlined by blood(shed). Thanksgiving? Turkey blood. Christmas? Birth blood. Easter? Christ blood. Blood is the life juice. Blood dice are appropriate outside of Halloween.
Plus, "Halloween" dice tend to be gimmicky and without much sense outside the Halloween theme. These stand on their own well enough.
Anyway, what would one have to do to make the inserts look like sugar polyhedra? Because......... blood sugar. I look at that white and I'm thinking sugar....
@@paulinapaola Lol I never thought of it that way. It all goes back to blood!
@@paulinapaola I imagine you could mix some actual sugar into resin lol. idk how that would look tho
At least you caught another trend with Dexter: New Blood
If you waited a month they coulda become "candy cane" dice!
Would love to see this technique with an inner dice painted with the liquid chrome to get a mirror finish, rather than the swirly look you got from using the liquid chrome in the resin
That's actually planned for a few weeks from now :) Great minds think alike!
@@Rybonator Oh heck yeah, that's excellent to hear. This method would be perfect for several characters of mine, and a few of them go well with metal and blood.
@@Rybonator Wow cant wait!!
With the shells, all I can imagine are potions and jars you would find in a hag's hut... so many ideas
Oh totally! Some liquid dice would be rad :)
Oh fuck that sounds cool.
Potion dice would be so cool!
Those dice are gorgeous! For some reason the black just makes them seem more violent. The combination of the Dicey Encounters number font and the blood spatter remind me of like a page from a dark comic book. Also the “blood” covered inside on the last shot totally isn’t creepy at all.
No u :P
Also thanks Verity :D
Yeah it totally has some Hellboy comics vibes to it, you're right!
Reminds me of Kill em’ All
Would like to see this style of dice with a gelatinous cube inspired design, with like a pea soup inner core with off color inclusions and a lighter green outer shell, to me that would be pretty cool to look at
Oh that's super creative! I love it :D
MINECRAFT SLIME
That would actually be kind of neat to do - you could actually create item shaped notches instead of numbers on the inner portion to paint on the designs and give them some depth without having to suspend items inside it.
I make Gelatinous Cube Liquid Core D6s!
I've done this! It looks amazing
I've been looking for a clear shell dice tutorial and not finding anything, thinking 'if only rybonator had a video' AND THEN LOOK WHAT I SAW IN MY FEED! The dice gods smile upon me
BOOM! I did it because I knew Laika would ask :)
Dexter? I hardly know her!
ha
Oh wow, they look so awesome gruesome! My favorite is the d8, the bloody tips and sides are really cool! But the d6 is especially great, too, because the shell is so good to see.
Now if there had been a pyramid formed d4 with a bloody tip like the d8 i would have been sure somebody had stepped on it barefooted and impaled their tippy toes
If it was the pyramid sharp d4, I wouldn't need to PAINT on blood at all :P
Those dices are so cool! The glass shell gives much more life to the entire set. They really look like made from fresh bones, so vile and gruesome!
I wonder thought: what would a dice with this effect look like if the “interior” part had some glowing parts? Like the blood paint for example.
The shell should refract the light in an interesting way.
I hope you can test it out!
This is a really cool method, I could see some interesting combos with this, I love the idea of one that hs perhaps convex numbers on the inside and completely smooth on the outside, or going with a colored shell in a different color than the inside, so many neat ideas, I like it.
I think that would be a lot of fun to experiment with :D
This technique might really help with the problem of mica powder on the outside of dice sanding off, like in the wild magic sorcerer video. Now you can do the mica powder covered insides of dice, then give a clear finish to protect it!
These are absolutely amazing, you could say you killed it, which is not the sharpest pun I could say, but had to take a stab at it
Idk, that seemed like a bloody brilliant pun to me. But hey, I'll let it SLIDE this time :)
These look amazing! Most of the time red paint really does look... just like red paint, but this actually resembles blood
That blood for the blood god paint is really great for that :D
I've started doing this technique! I've coated some cores in holographic glitter and color shift pigment, and I can't wait to see how they turn out!
With the lumps of pigment, you can premix the pigment in the resin part before mixing both parts together. So you can stirr it, let it sit for a while and stirr again until you get a nice consistent white and cought all the lumps. You can also try some vauum on that to break the lumps faster. This is also pretty helpful if you want to make larger batches in the exact same color, you premix all the resin part in the color you like and then take the amount you need for each cast and get consistent coloring throughout all your casts.
I always wonder how Dicey Encounters got the transparent layer around the dice. It's cool to think that his dice are essentially dice within a dice, I wonder how far you could take the shell molding. Maybe you can create cool layered dice that start from the center or different colors layered together create a different color in the final piece? Who knows.
Eventually you'd lose it, as one layer would color over another and another and another etc :(
Delirium_Dice did a really cool layered d20 with an aquarium vibe with an idea similar to this!
THANK YOU!! I’ve been trying to find out how to use this method and this is so awesome!
Boom! Glad I can help you out my friend :)
Ooh, these came out great! I bet you could use this technique to make fishbowl dice, I'd love to see that.
Well, now I want contained explosion dice or wisp dice with almost no paint but streaks of "magic"
Love that these were Dexter inspired!! We named our oldest after him (at the end of the day, he's really just a man with a heart of gold and a good work ethic - on and off the clock) so this was such an awesome surprise reference to see! I absolutely LOVE these and am definitely gonna give this method a try!
I love these dice! There are so many things you could do with this! hollow powder central bits, or mirrors, or so many things creative people could come up with
The more I watch these videos, the more I am wanting to actually try my hand at making dice as well. Thank you for the inspiration and excellent work.
Ah yes, the perfect addition for spooky season.
Only a week and a half after halloween, I am a master of timing.
@@Rybonator Nah, it's always spooky season.
Happy to know you didn't need to bleed for THESE dice, they look awesome!
I've done it before! But I'd prefer not to do it agian haha
@@Rybonator i was referencing those dice heh do you still have them?
These look like great dice for a children’s hospital! Because, you know, colour theory
I love these dice!!!! These would look so cool under a black light! Also, why did I find out about the dexter reboot not on any news outlet or anything but on a Dice making RUclips video? Not a bad thing but why I can’t I find out info in a normal way
I am trying to transition into entertainment news with my videos now ;)
Glad you like them :D
I thought you somehow were going to have the blood still liquid like those cheap bloody knife props.
Haha I've done a liquid core dice before, but that's a rad idea too!
I actually made a real blood filled d20, it's over on my insta!
I physically gasped and said "yes!" when I saw this video. I've been researching this technique for a long time, and there's finally a rybonator video on it!
Titanium dioxide can be kind of a bitch to mix in. Sometimes I 'temper' it with a small amount of resin, then mix it into the rest. I think you can also mix the powder into a tiny ount of isopropyl alcohol (just enough to get it wet) and then put that into the resin.
Oh that's smart. I might try the alcohol thing, I always have some of that at my desk :)
That looks so cool!!! 🥰 yay also a Dexter fan!
Thanks Dilusss! Glad you like them, and the awesome show :D
Love the layer effect.....some blood fingerprints would have worked well too 😀 Could the shell be used for some candy paint effects..?
Oh that would have been great! I should have tried that :D
And maybe? Depends on the style of candy you are looking for
@@Rybonator not sure if it would work 🤔 but I was thinking a solid metallic silver inner with a clear sparkly deep red candy outer...then silver numbers..? Mmmm
Damn Dexter themed dice... I want them!! Love the content ❤️
Thanks Patsis :) Glad you liked them!
THANK YOU for showing us how this is done! I've been seeing the clear shell dice all over instagram and i've been wondering for ages how it's done. I didn't know what the technique was called at all.
I bought one of the Endless Dice (that you reviewed) (that you can paint) and they look awesome I’m hoping I can paint them soon 🙂
Oh that's so cool! I hope that you like them :)
An illusionist dice?
Where you have the numbers on in inside that are very hard to read but still have the outside numbers that make it easier. The numbers could be the exact same or they could be completely different and hard to read like an illusion.
I saw this awesome trick that a nail tech used for blood splatter! She took a straw and kinda scooped it up in on the inside bottom of it and blew onto the surface of whatever she was painting and it looked amazing!
I’m shook. This is amazing
Glad you like them Binks :D
If you set the depth of your numbers to the same dimension as the inside dice you can make your shell thicker. (with a hundredth of an inch of slack or so to be safe). You can also print spheres to the dimension of the interior shape for a really cool “sphere in a platonic solid” effect.
Wow Rybo, those dice look really epic, like a murder scene with the splattered blood. Awesome job dude ☠🫀
Thanks Gofa :D I'm proud of these, so I'm glad you like them!
I was always curious how dice makers get a clear shell around thier die. Thanks for showing me the answer 😂
These might be your best dice so far! So simple and so clean!
The matte black paint number dye is *chef's kiss*
If you're interested in some good splatter technology, try using a toothbrush. Since there are so many bristles you get good results pretty quick
Oh shoot, that's super smart! I'll try that, thanks Red!
Gosh I have been rewatching ALL of Dexter to prime myself for the new season. Thanks so much for making these! They bring me joy. xD
Color shift pigment from places like Solar Color Dust really work best when put over a dark background. I would love to see a black inner dice with a color shift pigment in clear resin on the outer shell.
I've made a few like this in my shop and insta!
Another awesome set. Keep up the good work man!
THanks Stephen! I appreciate that :D
So cool!!! On paper the design would be simplistic but gosh darn if it isn't effective and cool-looking!
Sometimes simple is the best way to go! :D
This is so cool! I bet this shell technique would be *fantastic* with a cold cast inner part
“Thick milk” we all know what he was thinking of 🥴
YUP- HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM ;)
Yes, "thin cream".
Ooohhh! Oohhh! A black interior and a green goo toxin would be awesome in this style..
Legit, the black was the best apple barrel paint i've used dunno why it's so good, but it's SO GOOD...back when i painted in only apple barrel paints it was also my primer b/c it stuck so well to everything, metal/plastic/etc. still think it's as good or better than some mini paints. you are 1000% right.
The black you used is very similar to the color of the markers I used to write on slides, so it's kinda perfect!
This is an amazing set! I really love how they turned out. This technique would be awesome for some ice themed dice too.
I'm dead... I can't... the whit powder baby on the mica killed me.
Alumilite white resin dye is awesome. Just takes a couple drops. Mix with colored dyes to make opaque colors
Good to hear Dexter is coming back, as I went to school with him. Reminds me of that old Earlham cheer
"Fight, Fight, Inner Light!
Kill, Quakers, Kill!
Knock 'em Down, Beat 'em Senseless!
Do It 'til We Reach Consensus!"
You need to use those dice for Darkeye, there ones are critical successes. To bad you were late for Halloween, you could have put a Ghost in the Shell
I know it might not even work but I'd Love to see a Glow in the dark center and maybe some thin/black colour around the insert like a surprise glow in the dark. But itd have to be such a strong glow pigment. Maybe even gold around a yellowy glow in the dark like Cursed treasure?
So glad we are getting another dice video!!!! We all need more dice videos in our lives!
I love it!
Edit: I just commented that for the algorithm but after watching the video, I legit love them. These are easily my favorite dice you've done, hands down.
{Dimension 20: A Crown of Candy spoilers}
This makes me want to play a really pure character with white dice, then have a corruption arc a la Liam Wilhemina or have some other traumatic event change them forever, then bring out these babies for the rest of the campaign. Maybe if I ever do a campaign where I plan a prequel...
this is absolutely incredible man!
I play a dhampir druid and I would KILL for a set of dice like these! you did an amazing job!!
The black numbers are great. Love the dice!
Having been binging your videos for the last few days (thank you, ADHD) is there a reason you don't always use the pottery wheel to do your sanding, or is that only feasible when you're doing a lot of dice at once?
oooh those turned out cool! I love the shell effect :O Also your complaint about white pigments reminded me that I saw culturehustle's most recent pigment creation is a "whitest white" dry pigment, I wonder if that would work better or if it'd still be clumpy? Tho I do like how those titanium dioxide clumps look in the final dice, it adds a grittiness to the whole blood splattered theme :D
So you're telling me theres a chance for the Eye of Sauron D20 with this method?!
Yesss!
A great barbarian dice set.
Love em
I was watching an older video of yours the other day, can't remember which one, but you said the dice reminded you of Dexter's blood slides so when I saw this in my recommended that was like holy shit he actually did a set for that
I use titanium dioxide to color soap sometimes, and it makes it less clumpy if you micronize it in a coffee grinder before adding it to your mixture.
My goodness this dice are BEAUTIFUL!
These are your best yet! I really like these! Until now my favorite was the ORCMAGE dice set.
A set of dice made from either crow feathers (would be nice for a rogue character) or a set made with peacock feathers (maybe see through blue with the peacock heart in it) would be cool if not pretty difficult to make Resin dice out of. For the crow feather I'm thinking cutting off the tips or separate a feather into equal chunks so you can stack them and make a full feather effect
there's a lot of extremely cool suggestions in the comments, but i think it'd be really sick if you had each of the inside dice look like the sky of a different place or plane (like making one a bright clear blue with clouds, and another purple with glitter stars, and another all firey or green with tendrils of darkness) to make like "visions in a crystal ball" or portal to another world themed dice
With the shells, you could do some color (idk, gold maybe. Just picking that at random) in the core, then have a very diluted darker color for the shell. The contrast due to the thickness of the shell vs the thickness of the number would mean you don't need to ink it, and let it's natural color shine through
I just started watching Dexter not too long ago, and god, I'd kill for these. But only bad people. Gotta respect the code.
Hey, that's the perfect colour combination for a children's hospital :D
Really love these! I love dice that both tell a story/theme, but that are still clear to read. These do both so elegantly! Would be fun to keep specifically for combat rolls. :D
Can I just say you’d do an excellent job narrating an audiobook
These look so cool!
Thanks Kirbo! I'm glad you like them :)
I like how the d6 looks like a bloody sugar cube
Haha, for a dinner party gone wrong!
That is a great looking dice set. Makes sense not to use gold here but can't wait to see a gold version later
My favorite set you've made so far!
hey boss, I'm just dipping my toe into the dice making world, and when I was putting my lists together, I was trying to use your affiliate links to try and help you out just a little since I love your content so much. And I noticed your alcohol ink link is busted. I thought maybe it was just from an old video but I just clicked the one you have listed now and it's still busted :/. Sorry this has nothing to do with your vid, which I loved. Just thought I'd let you know.
Such a wonderful explanation of every step. Thank you.
imagine something like those cthulu glow in the darks encased in resin! Obviously not those ones specifically since they're hollow, but I feel like this opens the door to glow in the dark paint projects, since gitd tends to be thick and grainy if you want it to show
SUPER cool.
Could even do more regular dice with liquid glitter shells for a little extra shine.
These look AWESOME! Only thing missing is a fingerprint in that big blood smear. ;) So cool.
And you're not late for Halloween, you're just really early for next year so we have ample time to make these for next year while still inspired by the Halloween mood. lol
These are SO cool!! The blood looks so real. You make the most amazing resin dice.
These are so sick. I think they're my favorite on the channel so far.
These look amazing!!!!! The blood splatter is so good and I was excited to see you do the shell dice OuO
Also, those dice are definitely planning your murder but it’s too tempting to not try and tempt fate~
I love those dice, please keep doing that type of thing. I could imagine a Fey Wild set. Green Purple and Silver.
The black really did the dice justice. It's 3 contrasting colors in the best way.
Not sure if you still have that black pigment, but I'd would be interesting to see that as an inking color. The dice you made weren't as dark due to the resin but it's worth a try
Also the shell could be used to cold cast just the numbers with mica powder and probably not need to ink it later, an experiment worth trying. Same for a shelled wild magic like dice with the mica powder. It would just ruin the molds though.
I do still have it! I'd need to find a mixative for it that works, but I can do that sometime :)
@@Rybonator i try matte medium. Pretty much the bog standard for this kind of stuff. It would effect the pigments like the resin did but not as bad.
I think it was midwinter minis that painted models in multiple blacks to compare vs an ultra black like 3.0 or musou. *Edit:* Nope not MWM, it was squidmar vid posted about 8 months ago.
Btw, hope you had a good Halloween.
aww these are amazing. You should try to do multi colored numbers next time. I feel like you totally could’ve made the icy grey/black kinda colors from the dexter new blood logo
Oh that's true. I went for old Dexter, but I should have gone new school :)
@@Rybonator Have you made a tutorial where you used multiple colors for the numbers on the dice? Because i actually don’t know how to do it, and i’d love to have some extra flair for my dice.
Hmm... wonder how hard it would be to cut the "inside" mold into 2 pieces (you'd probably want interlocking shapes for alignment purposes - since I would imagine just split-pouring would result in bleed over) - just thinking about how it would look with a sharp 2 color split inside, with an opalescent clear coat on top...
I know this is an older video, but I just wanna leave a bit of a tip. I watch a lot of soap making videos, and the titanium dioxide really wants to clump, so they actually use a stick blender to get it nice a distributed in the oils before adding the lye. Obviously, a stick blender won't work for small amounts of resin, but maybe a milk whisker could be used? Put the TD in only one part of the resin and mix thoroughly before adding the other part of the resin and in theory this should make a more homogenous white resin. You WILL need a pressure pot for this, though xD
Damn that apple barrel made those number smooth
Bag of holding/ handy haversack themed dice. Would be awsome as a dice maker community challenge to see what random items end up in dice sets.
This could be a cool way to do floral inclusions - instead of a bunch of flowers floating in the middle, there's a layer of flowers around the shell
Oooo. You should deffos do one with a clear core and a translucent shell next. :o
Nice to see a rhombic dodecahedron d12 for a change. For some reason everyone seem to make the pentagon one.
I absolutely love the shape
