Ardyn is my favorite villain in the entire FF series, his personality is amazing, he succeeded in his task, and he had a good motive, and i understood why he snapped.
Yep, Bahamut was the true villain all along.
@@Sheechiibii Slavery? What?
The story was originally connected to FF XIII. What if Bahamut was Bhunivelze in another form with the objective of creating his perfect world of light after ightning put in him in sleep in LR FFXIII ? Only a theory hey but if you think about it, they're more or less the same jerkass gods of light who only want everything perfect following their views and have absolutely no care about anyone's feelings.
Eh, he'd only be the 'true villain' if he didn't mean to destroy the Starscourge - but even with this plot, that WAS his intention, so that only really makes him a ruthless nominal hero who has godly 'blue and orange morality'.
Whereas Ifrit's actions caused as much/more trouble than this plot overall, all because he was spurned. He purposefully turned against his purpose of protecting Eos and tried to murder mankind, and caused a god war, among other things... while understandable because of humanity growing arrogant, he did it for his own selfish reasons, whereas at least Bahamut's plot had a well-intentioned purpose. Even Leviathan is worse than Bahamut, wanting to devour all humans just from being woken up and refusing to give up her power until she was literally forced to
Still, I'm amused how people think all the gods are automatically terrible just because Bahamut isn't as nice as initially thought. Last I checked, we're supposed to judge them on an individual basis XD
oh you poor fool, you thought the Bahamut was the true villain of the game! BUT IT WAS I, DIO!!!!
I suggest we call Kratos to ripp his head off.
Somnus is the type of person who screws everyone but somehow places himself on the moral high ground because he, and the people like him, are convinced that their actions are always just.
Reminds me of this funny post I read...
Somnus: Look I know you're upset that I betrayed you
Ardyn: :|
Somnus: ...and that I lied to you, stole your kingdom, and turned your people against you.
Ardyn: :|
Somnus: ...and that I killed you, imprisoned you in the most torturous way imaginable for 2000 years, and ensured that you were all but forgotten to history
Ardyn: :|
Somus: ...and that I burned entire towns of our people alive and literally stabbed your fiance in the back after she mistakenly put her trust in me.
Ardyn: :|
Somnus: But you can like...understand? Right? Surely you can at least give me your understanding.
Ardyn: >:|
Somnus: Gods, you're such a monster. Clearly you were exactly like this from the start and my actions were justified all along.
Sounds like some church people XD
ardyn caused his own downfall the moment he absorb the starscourge he was lost it's why he wasn't chosen.
no wonder i loved ardyn since the start , sensed something in his personality,, such a perfectly created character
If square enix make a dlc to order to kill all the gods, i'll buy it without hesitation.
Apparently that’s what episode Noctis was going to be. Him defying his fate and the gods and getting a true happy ending that was actually going to be canon. It’s a shame that the other 3 dlcs got cancelled.
If anyone deserved "eternal suffering" its Somnus and the gods. They basically screwed over not only Ardyn but also the entire line of Lucius from day one. Not to mention all the innocent people that died in between the conflict.
Imagine Ardyn and Noctis cooperating and meeting the gods and then asking: ,,Why are you doing all this?"
Gods: ,,Uhmm.. to give you a straight awnser... we're bored and want some drama."
*It was at this moment that they knew. They fucked up*
Noctis and Ardyn were just two sides of the same coin. Slaves to fate and the gods. Bahamut is truly the villain here. Ardyn gets betrayed, loses his love, and gets locked in a prison for two thousand years. He sees food in front of him and what does he do? Prays and thanks the gods for it, only to be betrayed yet again by them. I think in the end, Noctis knew all the pain Ardyn had gone through. “This time you can Rest In Peace. Close your eyes forevermore.”
They’re releasing a novel that is presumably to be the conclusion of the story. I hope they release it in English.
So mad the final Noctis DLC was cancelled! I think it would've had the 'true ending' in it where Noct does something major in the afterlife (maybe beating Bahamut?)
WR they do have a novel out but right now it’s only in Japanese. There is a summary of the story out though if you’re interested in searching for it.
@@ironwolg I'll check out a synopsis of it! Thanks!
I would go with Pratchett's diagram.
Ardyn and Noctis are part of the same coin, but they are both on one side of it. The other side of it is Bahamut, and the coldness and distance of what he was planning.
The novel Will come in english this year around 20 June i believe
The moment you realized FF15 was you playing a puppet strings to a bunch of divine pricks.
There needs to be a damn DLC with an alternative ending where Noctis and Ardyn team up and beat all the Gods' asses into the ground! Then Ardyn turns over a new leaf and sacrifices himself to end the Starscourge and all daemons in the world. Thus he will forever be remembered as the true Savior.
bahamut was a major antagonist
somnus was the primary antagonist. damn ardyn is one of the best characters in ff
1:19:47 in the bottom of the menu selection, there is a thing called “kingly clash”. where it is the final battle between Noctis vs ardyn… but you play as Ardyn and beat up Noctis
Ardyn’s character really makes me sad. No matter the ending of this story that you follow, he is pretty much a necessary sacrifice for the fate of the world. And it’s such a shame that he had to suffer so much as a result. The thing about Ardyn is that YES-he became a villain who hurt and killed a lot of people. But only because he was manipulated and tormented into submission by people and Gods who decided what his fate should be. Ardyn wasn’t a bad guy. He wanted to help people, and was manipulated by the Gods into believing his healing power would allow him to do it. Instead, he was punished and cast into 2,000 years of torment. Understandably, he began to drown in hatred and resentment. And the moment he almost had his vengeance, the Gods took it away and said-“No. We need you to do your part in saving the world by spreading darkness and letting yourself become a sacrificial lamb to the bloodline that betrayed you and locked you up for two millennia. Sorry not sorry you lost your life, mortality, and humanity, but it’s for a good cause, yeah?”
I couldn’t imagine being in that position, having a deity come out and tell me my fate. At that point, I don’t think much of anything would matter anymore. Everything’s pre-ordained right? So the result will be the same, no matter what I do.
In any case, Ardyn is a fascinating character and I’m glad we got this DLC to explore his backstory. It’s a shame we didn’t get more of it in the main game-it would have made for such a richer experience from the start.
Ugh, I needed that Episode Noctis so bad!
Thank you Suzy. Your coverage of this game was amazing.
ARDYN IS THE SHIT!! best villain in gaming history!!
You have to watch the other decision. Its worth. His brother and aera betrayed him so badly. I feel sorry for him but it was all planned by the gods.
It's "implied" that they knew, but there's no definitive answer.
Wow, we all know the true villain of FF15 now... The Gods, they literally toyed with Ardyn to turn him into a villain just to ply out what they want to happen. Does anybody else besides me think this SHOULD have been FF15's real story? Taking down the Gods that toy with mankind like this. Bahamut LITERALLY confessed how they wanted all this to happen just so they could make a story about the Heroes of Light! This entire DLC's story was vastly superior to the entirety of FF15's main story! I feel like Ardyn should get more time in the spotlight after this!
« Either you die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the vilain »...The sad truth about Ardyn...
FFXV is the exact opposite of FF XIII series lol. If FF XIII series is about opposing God and their plans, FFXV is about following it -- for a greater cause. Bahamut and Kings of Lucis many times mocked others about how "short-sighted" they are. The Gods are dealing with a myriad of daemons with no healers available to purge them, human think only about their momentary safety. Somnus saw the fate the line of Lucis have to face the moment he put on the ring. Every King of Lucis knows this fate and waits in fear, that's why they have so many guardian systems.
All of that is only to bid enough time until Noctis is born. He met Bahamut when he was matured, and with only one line: *"Many has sacrificed themselves for the King, so must the King sacrifice himself for all."* , Noctis willingly went into slumber to have his peace.
The funny thing about the storyline is: Ardyn who was the true Messias back than, full of love and a healer and a good guy, went to eternal prison. And in the meantime his sadistic backstabbing jealous brother Somnus who was killing for fun and pure joy (for example Aera....) got the throne and become the big astral shiny hero and shiny knight afterwards :D that`s very strange.
ardyn caused his own downfall.
@kacangbumbu987 ardyn brought this on himself what his brother did wasn't right but in the end everything that happend was his own fault
@kacangbumbu987 he infected himself with the starscourge and in doing that he sealed his own fate
@kacangbumbu987 he was deemed a traitor because of it. and because he did what he did there was no other choice for the gods and they made somnus king
Wonder what is left for Luna and Aranae if they ever make it...
The Skyrim dlc dragonborn has a similar plot to ffxv ardyn is the first King then noctis is the last king first dragonborn vs the last sounds similar?
While I now feel some small amount of pity for him he still murdered a bunch of innocent people. This also includes murdering, and signing the fates, of Luna and Noctis who had NOTHING to do with what was done to him. A better story would have been for him and Noctis to team up to tell Bahumut to kiss their asses. Also Somus was a monster, and so it's disgusting that he got to live a great life while also making so he and his decedents built a prosperous kingdom on top of a innocent mans tragedy. He even still got to go to whatever heaven exists in this story. A SOCIOPATH got that. This, and Kingdom Hearts, just proves that these enix games are starting to more and more have no actual moral center. You can be evil as hell, but still get good things at the end,and sometimes even your victims will be your biggest cheerleaders.
So sad I understand why he turned into darkness but every man is responsible for his actions, ardyn made his own choices and ended like that :/ a true king never victimize himself..
Nobody was right & none was wrong. Even the Gods have to bear the sacrifice these guys made in order to cure the world of scourge for the world's future. Ardyn and Noctis were sadly part of the process of the greater good. Just like how sacrifices were made all over the world without you knowing in order to keep the Earth sane.
The Gods (or rather Bahamut) don't give a damn about the world. Bahamut is essentially Bhunivelze in another form. Read the novel Dawn of (i don't remember) and you'll understand.
This dlc should be called Regis may cry or fantasy may cry
Bahamut is the true villain...Somnus is just a pathetic pawn.
Last thing though but now i REALLY wish we got that alternate ending that they showed a picture of with everyone being happy with Ardyn cuz fuck Bahamut
Okay I have to say two major things about this. Of course damn that was fucked up but as Bahamut stated it was preordained and from what Somnus said about understsnding and doing what he was told it seems; did Bahamut tell him that this was how things will be? It seemed something was off about all this and it seems it leads me to Bahamut keeping these brothers apart. Using Somnus' envy against him and Ardyns ambitiouness to get the starscourge into a single vessel to annihilate. Its all kinda fucked if you think about it.
I think along the lines Bahamut knew that obviously Ardyn was chosen and he was given the power to ease suffering taking the scurge. Thus packing it into a nice little sacrificial box for Noctis the true king of Light Ardyn thought he was to be killed off. He needed Somnus and used his envy and probs told him his brother is a sinner and is taking the disease from people and tis tainitng himself. Giving Somnus all the big headed ego he needed to take him down specially after Aera told him Ardyn was to sit the thone. He probably felt it was in his right to do so and protect his people in his dammed eyes. Even kill his brother for the monster he has become.
I wonder though if Bahamut from the beginning told Ardyn that he was to do as he was, taking the sickness away to later hold it in for the true king of light to kill him with the scourge as a Martyr I guess. Would Ardyn, as devote as he was back then, have simply agreed? He Would be easily dropped the throne, seeing as he didnt want it in the first place. Like would things still have gone as acording to plan? Cuz other than Somnus for letting his envy get the better of him and making him a complete ass hat. I blame Bahamut for this fate.
Su will you play walking dead season 4 episode 4?
Just like guts...
FF series are about fighting against destined fate and the Crystals and Gods above are all the real evil, u can see it in ff XIII and FF XIV, I wish Ardyn put and end to that dumb Bahamuth God, no wonder why Ifrit fought against him, wish there was a Luna Dlc.
XV shared XIII's lore more strongly originally.
@@wiseguy240Winston because the game was originally gonna be Versus XIII. Now another good FF game with similar themes is Type-0
ardyn dont do any harm he is just victim
Precisely why I hated this iteration of XV under Tabata tbh. You have all the other Final Fantasy games before it and they teach you the same message of defying your cruel fate and fighting against all odds in order to achieve the ending you desire. Yet this game comes around and completely messes up that trend in every sense of the word.
Honestly for what it's worth, I would've loved to see Nomura's Versus but sadly that will never ever happen. Not because Nomura is *supposedly* a bad Director/Writer or that Tabata is an *incompetent fool* but Square's higher-ups are *money-hogging freaks.*
Wait a sec, Yen? what happen to Gil?
Den H. I noticed that too. My guess is that Gil was used in the rest of Eos while only Insomnia used Yen. It makes sense since at the beginning of FFXV, Noct and the guys didn’t have any gil to pay for the repair of the Regalia. They probably only had Yen which was useless outside of Insomnia.
I love you Suzy ❤🌷 episode. Ardyn is amazing
funny how Ardyn ravages the whole city but still respects the rules of trade
I thought I was just the one who noticed that! In our place, its called an Honesty Store. No merchant, just the products.
Even Now... You can tell that they were planning to connect Episode Ardyn to Episode Noctis. Probably with the two episodes coming together with the final battle being Noctis and Ardyn working together to defy the gods and defeat them. Its a shame we will never see this in game, only in a novel. But at least its something
I felt so sorry for Ardyn :( , I wished they would do the other DLCs cause I wanted to see Luna :(
Me too. :(
Well they have announced that they will be releasing the other dlcs in book form called dawn of the future to be released April 25th for Japan and a international release date that has yet to be announced. If that's any consolation.
Same here. Episode Luna was the one I was most interested in. It is too bad it got cancelled
@@SuzyLuOfficial
So sad this game is all the way over. I got this awesome game added to my ff collection when it first came out. But now, its over...
I wish there could be a little bit more. Dont let the game die out yet Square! But still, this game survived a good long three years. I hope they dont end the entire franchise here. :(
Well Ardyn DLC is almost perfect. The endings do not matter since they are the same if you chose to resist or submit to fate. One downside is that you do not kill Bahamut or at least fight him. For fuck sake If I would be Ardyn I would infect the gods with Starscourge and I would let them suffer slowly as shit let them kill Noctis, after that his band of losers and corrupt the crystal and absorb it. Fin The End. Fuck he could have done it in anime corrupt every shitty lucian turn them to daemons and absorb them. Only one DLC mattered to me besides Ardyns and that was the Final DLC where Noctis challenges fate (probably Bahamut). But we get the novel instead. They should make an anime called Final Verse for this game and end the series for good.
I'm not gonna lie. After seeing this, the whole story bothers me now. Not the characters such as noctis and adryn. But the gods and how they have to make things a much bigger ordeal then what it should rightfully be.
They’re fucked innit 😂
Season 2 was suppose to be our big alternate story to reach the 'screw the gods gimme my good end' result. Unfortunately it's over and a book will be our 'good end'...wanna bet its Japan only?
Yeah this was weird by square standards. Usually they’d be all about defying the gods.
Honestly... Isn't this how most gods in our world do things tho?
@@paquirosd Yeah, they tend to be clear reflections of our own folly so no surprise there.
So Ardyn essentially snapped and became the Joker. Evil Laugh is on point; crazy like the Joker, props to the voice actor!
How about another joke Somnus? :)
In a nutshell, great-great-great-great-great loving fedora grandpa plans revenge against all his nephews and grandsons.
Joking aside, seeing everything that Ardyn has endured, witnessed, done and acted through the story, show how much of a tragical figure he is. His anger is justified, towards his brother's betrayal, against the gods's manipulation, even Area's secrecy and even towards the whole legacy of the Calleum family. Everyone, either a soldier, a king, an oracle or civilian, was played by the gods's hands like puppets in a play.
nah , he is just evil , why he want the throne if he tainted by starscourge? he and his brother is stupid person. Literally everyone is wrong , they create this to create some dilemma
Ardyn had no children so no grandchildren
Yup the gods were the bad guys all along
Ardyn: 'Can you please summon my brother'
Regis:'No'
*stomps*
Ardyn: 'Can you please summon my brother'
Regis: 'No'
*stomps*
Ardyn: 'Can you please summon my brother'
Ardyn: *oh S**t he's dead
Ardyn's misery is a sea of sadness. There is no salvation for him, even his salvation taken away by the gods. His humanity sacrificed by his blessings, his family throne and love destroyed by a brother. A man left with nothing but hatred, sadness and despair. Taken unto the edge of madness, revealed to be nothing more than a pawn to be sacrificed, by the playful will of the gods. The misery of Ardyn's existence is a unreacheable sea of sadness and desolation.
Requiescat in pace, Adagium.
he caused his own downfall when he absorbed the starscourge
@@hollandjimenez6592 rather, when he tried to save others from it.
After watching this gameplay, I came to realize that Ardyn was using Mars Sapienta's face and body all along so King Regis never recognized him in Kingsglaive.
Oh... Sh*t, that makes perfect sense 👌😅
Aww the cutest Episode Ardyn ending reaction everr.. 1:08:35
But to answer your question. Ardyn wanted Noctis to feel the same pain he did. Killing Luna and twisting the world and etc. Ardyn is saving the best for last. There are a some instances that Ardyn saved Noct and the Bros througout the main story. And at some point lost patience and had given up (Episode Ignis). But thank Ignis all went accordingly.
In the end. I felt Noct understood Ardyn. Before the final battle when Noct notices the Paintings. He said that "He (Ardyn) has been living in a world, he can share with no one". And after their fight instead of anger, Noct felt pity for Ardyn and said. "This time, you'll rest in peace".
Bahamut is the real villain.
I think that this was one of the best DLCs for FFXV. This playthrough really looks amazing
Man the moment his face changes along with the music is just amazing, also glad the Suzy Lu chose my preferred ending, it gives Ardyn a final touch of tragedy.
yes indeed best ending damm powerfull scene it makes you feel powerless against the astral beings who decides each of us our destinies
Concerning the whole Lunafreya thing. I think Luna "needed" to die so that no one could take in the starscourge. So long as she lived, she could slow down, or even halt, the coming of the darkness, and thus, Noctis would have never risen as the King of Light. Noctis taking in all the power of the Crystal was a pretty important part of Ardyn's plans to exact revenge on Bahamut, on the Crystal, and on the kingdom that Somnus built.
I hope you chosen the option to abide by faith. It's a much more emotional outcome to me. :'(
In the end, it is all Bahamut's fault. He's the main villain, Somnus the secondary.
At last what he search as justice was a sad reality that the justice was not on his side
People should play this dlc first then they can continue to the main game
It will be hurt to see ardyn storyline.
Somnus didn't quite cause it. The God bestowed Ardyn with that fate from the beginning and Aera and Somnus knew about it. So his brother did what he had to do and made him fall into the Darkness. That is the reason why he told Ardyn to go back into the Darkness because he had to bring it to the world till the King of Kings was Born and Ready to kill him.Somnus, Aera, Noctis and especially Ardyn where just pawns to the gods.
wait... so Noctis is the only one why can cure Ardyn's curse and purify his soul by defeating him? Could it be that the final space like floating area, where Noctis throws his sword down is actually inside Ardyn's soul?
Poor Ardyn, he is the true hero of this story. Noctis will be remembered as a sacrifice who was played by the gods and he is not worthy of Cloud, Squall, Titus or Lightning. I wish Noctis story was of Ardyns origin seeking to remove the old gods hold on humanity using the power of the daemons. Buhamut is a jerk.
Agree
I agree as well. Ardyn has gain my level of respect, he deserved better.
Have you played Final Fantasy Type-0? Its honesty one of best in the series.
Both sides were f'ed by the gods.... they got no choice... because the gods already planned and power tripped everything just for their own entertainment.
Thats what I feel too its really messed up
0:24 yes a truly good player if is story hungry want s a play this again. It makes it more enjoyable.all DLC in order and it would be perfect
poor Noctis, he just wanted to have a happy life, we would get that with Episode Noctis but thanks to SE
long live King Noctis❤
Just finished this DLC. Truly splendid. Will definitely play it again.
"No rest for the wicked'
I like this Ozzy refrence
Before the cancelled DLC (from what I understand), the way things were going to turn out was that is you selected 'Submit to your Fate'; then the timeline would have played out how it originally did in the FF XV. However, with the option you chose, it would have opened the alternative timeline which were all the cancelled DLCs. Instead of Noctus and the guys walking in, it would have been a resurrected Lunafreya telling Ardyn the 'Plan' was a lie and asking for his help! (Paraphrasing a bit here). It's all detailed in the 'Visions of the Future' Novel. I only got into this game last year (thanks lockdown), so I played blind through the whole thing and loved it. Broke me a little at the end and I'll never be able to listen to 'Stand By Me', the same way. Enjoyed watching your playthroughs and I'm still playing the occasional Comrades Mission.
fighting regis and noctis was awesome. guess we finally know how the enemies feel when we fight them bc that shit was hard af
Ardyn :(
42:06 bueno ifrit, me encanto xd
Notice the background sound and when Ardyn used his Dark Tornado at 59:33.
Dear Ardyn, let's read this Rule no.1: Never ever take a god's blessing in a form of a.... special (yet unreal or ultimate) ability. They never tell you everything about all the effects on other live creatures, on earth itself or on yourself. And they ask too harsh price for that.
Sad thing about that is. We mortal's never realize these's facts you just put down until AFTER THE FACT! That's what sucks.
Honestly, I think Ardyn was satisfied with the chance to die in the end. He does refer to his eternal life as a blessing and a curse after all.
I think you choose the right decession .. I think the true ending is "resist your fate".. than Ardyn will become the true evil just like in FF XV main game...
The makers have confirmed that the true ending is "submit to fate", but... In the end it doesn't actually matter. I liked the "resist" one a lot more.
the way Ardyn says "over here" gets me all the time haha
even if you choose submit to fate the ending would still be the same
This DLC was brilliant! outstanding
So the gods were playing everyone to achieve their own goal in the grand scheme of things just to rid the world of the Starscourge.
Noct and Ardyn shared such a similar story in the end. Both were used and destined to live out a disastrous fate for the sake of the gods motives. Damn, I really appreciate this story a lot more now that it’s fleshed out like this, a nice way to end this game.
#ArdynDidNothingWrong
It might not be in the game, but know that the story in the upcoming novel was also planned for a long time now. It will have as much weight as this and, possibly, considered canon. I'll be reading it as soon as it's out in English. It'll be out in Japan on April 25th.
I love you ❤️
But this was a preprdained for Ardyn for him to gain vengance he must sacrifice himself to gain revenge that's fucked up and I think the gods decided this for them lucis family only for Ardyn to be a sacrificial lamb and him to kill his family decided by the gods and fate and all because somnus couldn't do something heroic or noble like his brother to become king but no he had to be sad, mad and emo to get the throne
beautiful reaction and poor fate for ardyn he did not deserve that fate but what can you do against the plans of the gods at least if your name is kratos
arydin has sufferred lot of amouts of pain just to be noctis sacrifece that is bad
Revenge is a dangerous game ya win at a cost family friendship no matter the cost it is and it shall always be a dangerous game
And that's when we found out that Ardyn is fond of hats. 😎
you know ardyn caused his own downfall not his brother.
Suzy you played any Persona games
Behemoth is the real villain here
Will you do kingly clash?🙂
But wait... Aera have sons?
You like his sexy laugh? lol
It's an Excellent DLC, but it makes me question of their choice of writting. Since in Kingsglaive it follows the same timeline as in the game and no one seems to care (Even Regis) that Ardyn just casually walking through Imperial Throne of Insomnia like he was no one. While in DLC Regis Immediately realize it's him.
He is using the body of a guard.
Poor ardyn
I highly recommend everyone reading: Dawn of the Future. It can be found on Amazon!
I would rather kill myself
4:54 bevelle!!
My theory is... what if Noctis thought he was being "helped" by Bahamut when actually he was used as a pawn... and Ardyn thought he "posessed" Ifrit.. but actually he Was just Ifrit's tool for revenge? So the actual conflict was something else than they thought
Thats what it seems to be specially with Bahamut. He used both brothers as his pawns to get the scourge rid of and the Caelums were perfect to use.
We can see it is the case for Bahamut, he just used everything and everyone for his schemes. As for Ifrit, I don't really know if he truly used Ardyn but in my opinion, he at least saw it as a way to get his revenge.
Mmm, maybe its kinda good that this episode is released long after the original game. Dont know how to feel if playing Noctis's story after playing this. I'd rather kill Bahamut, lol
I really wish you could too lmao! God he ruined that family haha like no joke
But how you download it?
You download it on the PS Store
@@dantecrailman8861 thanks men
Ardyn is a great
The only thing i hate on FF XV is the way square enix sold the game piece by piece and the release time between they. I bought the entire game 2 times and all but i have no plans to play this dlc, so i will enjoy just watching you playing it. 😊
I still can't get this story. So those kings and bahamut are totally selfish assholes, or what?
The moral is: never trust a god in ff universe
BORDERLANS !!!
You need to choose the other option to get why he killed Luna without remorse.
