Absolutely, this is a treat! What a terrific example of the best aspect of jazz which is that it sees and shows both sides. Formal and casual, structured and improvised, sad and happy. Tuba Skinny has a very special place in my heart.
Splendid rendition of an old Jimmie Rodgers song. It is true enough to the original not to offend the ear of this old Rodgers fan, yet different enough to put Tuba Skinny's own distinctive stamp on it. Takes good musicians to pull that off and TS does it flawlessly.
@@Hellwilliam1 What's the tuba? If you mean that it is the tuba that enables this band to pull off this rendition of Travellin' Blues so well, I don't that any one instrument or any one musician is the reason. I think it is the cohesion of the band. If any one person deserves the credit for that it is probably Shaye Cohn. The instrument you are referring to, by the way, looks like a sousaphone, which, I suppose, is a variation of a tuba.
Tuba Skinny, for me the best traditional Dixieland Band from New Orleans (or from the world ??) with the famous ladies Shaye Cohn and Erika Lewis 👏👏🎺🎺🇩🇪❤️🇺🇸❗️
They are a ton of talent .. Greg and Erica are finely matched, the arrangement brings out the best in each of them (love Todd's tasteful tuba). And beautifully 'filmed'; so glad we have this - thank you !
TS has always chosen to have men sing lyrics reflecting a man's pov, and Erika sings the women's parts. She can't always be with TS since leaving New Orleans, but she's as much the featured singer as she ever was. When Erika and Greg sing together, harmonizing or in a conversation, their voices blend perfectly.
This band always pulls off perfection. I can't get enough of them. Enjoying them down here in New Zealand.

A superb performance. One of the best.

It's the tube. Also, it is right there in the name.

Gregory and Erika - Voices of America!
Even in Bavaria, at Lake Koenigstein, nobody yodels as beautifully as Erika and Gregory!
Just how many tunes does this fabulous band have in its repertoire ?
Duet!
Greg has obviously replaced Erica as the lead singer - life is a-changing - and she brings her talent back, blending to him perfectly.

Whats tattoo on Erica's left upper arm?
She has the same on both shoulders. They look like feathers. Someone described them as "angel wings."
