Hey dude, someone pointed this video out to me. Very fun. You are very close with the gear, with one minor error. The bass is my 1976 Fender Precision that I bought probably just months before this video was made. It has DiMarzios and had been routed out for a J Pickup somewhere in the past. I believe I am the third owner, the original owner was a Jazz cat in New York and he did the mods in his time. Then an Icelandic dude bought it and brought it to Iceland where I purchased it shortly after. I did nothing to it except repairing the pickup switch, and that has since gone to shit again. It is pretty much stuck with both pickups on, and that is just fine. I have toured with it all over and it is one of my mains. Killer bass. The Ampeg is long gone and we don't really use amps anymore when playing live. Those Marshalls are both mine and I still have them though. Really enjoyed it. Thanks man!
Wow, thanks a ton, man! And thanks for the correction and explanation on the gear! I was super thrown off by the pickup switch, but with the modifications it totally makes sense! I’ll make sure to throw the correction in the description! And thanks a ton for the awesome music. Can’t wait to discover more from you guys!
So, this band was formed in 2009. I'm the guy in Iceland that does Wacken Metal Battle sending unsigned unknown bands to Wacken Open Air since 2009 and been doing lots of gigs with foreign artists in Iceland for the last 20 years or so. I helped the guys out early in their career, did lots of promoting for them etc. These guys are simply amazing! After having only released 2 albums they were invited by THE Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, the official state-sponsored one, to play a gig with them, in 2013 and they sold out 3 shows, each one in front of 1600+ audience. They then repeated this a few years later and sold out four shows. TISO plays all their gigs in Iceland in the big Harpa - Reykjavik Congress and Concert Hall, a really grand venue. Can't wait for your reaction to this. For the performance with the orchestra, they also incorporated 3 different choirs, a male-only one, a mixed one and a children's choir. In all 250 people were on stage at most :) So bloody impressive stuff. People here have been recommending the songs Kvaðning and Hel (both from their first album). Those are really good songs. I think their full use of the orchestra shines through in the song Loki from their 2nd album. Oh, the band ONLY sings in Icelandic and more so only uses old style lyrics that follow strict rules of alliteration and "verse theory". They are the biggest metal band in Iceland, although Sólstafir are bigger internationally.
Now that's a coincidence! I was going to propose "Skálmöld & Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands - Kvaðning" for the twitch reactions. Symphonic battle metal at its best, with an orchestra that doesn't simply replace a synth. ... and you can see how popular these guys are in Iceland
That one is one of my favourite videos ever! Really great collaboration of symphony orchestra and metal band, plus choirs etc, nothing short of legendary gig overall, have watched it dozen times!
Happy birthday to Papa Tank ;-) "Kvadning" and "Aras" (played with the Orchestra) are my favourites, I think you will enjoy them a lot. It's a bit different to their "normal" sound, but... much better. And they were so enthusiastic, playing in that hall with the audience... you see in their faces, how much fun they had.
So glad that you finally did a reaction to Skálmöld🇮🇸🤘🏻 Can't wait to you check out their performance with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. It is brilliant. Also check out Týr🇫🇴. They also performed with an orchestra. The Faroe Islands Orchestra. Again, another brilliant performance. 🤘🏻🇬🇧🖤
Great choice, your dad rocks... but (and this is just my personal opinion !!!!!) it's not as epic and beautiful as the live with the full-on whole orchestra. I really hope you get to check Kvadning or Hel one of these days... for me, Kvadning with the full orchestra is everything, EVERYTHING, I love about music and I cant wait to share it with you !
Watched this exact video just now and that's what lead me here to tank's old reaction. Been exposed to plenty of Skálmöld, but found it all profoundly boring until that video
I really thank your dad because I wanted you to discover this band so bad ! Really hope to see a reaction of their live with the islandic orchestra. Your reactions are always entertaining and I learn a lot with you, even when I already know the band.
Happy birthday for your dad, he has really great taste! Got hooked on this band when they toured with Alestorm and stopped in my small city, and it was one of the best gigs I've been, really great band live with great songs and skilled performance. And it won't hurt that they are really cool and humble guys, hanging out with fans after shows etc.
15:48 Well Tank, in that position you must feel like the girl in the music video to headbanger by Baby Metal. Love your gear breakdown, if anything gear, the roadie knows best :)
great band..like a lot of people commenting here..the concert with a full orchestra and 2 choirs is on another level..totally awesome..it would be great to see some reactions from this ..keep dad happy as well.lol..
Trivium's new album "In The Court of The Dragon" is out in a couple of days Friday 8th October, and from what I've heard so far released from this album, it sounds amazing. "Feast of Fire" is a fantastic song.
How many people? Half of the country! 🤣🤣🤣. This band is sick! Gibson SG Standard is the most beautiful guitar 😍 ever made! 🤣😝🤣! Happy Bday Tank’s Father.
Haggard is a band that really IS as big as you thought skalmold was. theyre basically a small orchestra, with classical musicians as full time members of the band and multiple singers. unfortunately, theyre on hiatus indefinitely, so no new releases any time soon for you to do a reaction on, but you should check them out offscreen anyway, theyve got a great, unique sound. check out the song of a might divine.
Do you only do metal reactions ? I'm definitely new to your channel however your beast was just curious with what seems to be your interest in the Norse mythology have you heard of or listened to "Wardruna" it's definitely not metal however the music it's unbelievably moving for me personally though I'm absolutely obsessed with anything having to do with Norse mythology lol
Totally dig Wardruna. I'm not just into metal, but that's a lot of what's on this channel because I like discovering new stuff with everyone on here. I like a lot of stuff like Wardruna and Heilung, and pretty much anything with a folk, celtic, or nordic influence.
Yesssss!!!! I absolutely have all of those in my Playlist also lol and definitely why I enjoy watching your channel as finding metal bands that I dont already listen to and its amazing because I feel like there is always room to learn more music and appreciate the art created from those gifted with such talent I'm just grateful I get to listen hahaha
I don´t know if it´s already on your radar, or you might already have filmed a reaction to it. If not, I would seriously recommend taking a look att Beast In Black ´s new "One night in tokyo".
tank. Archspire, Drone Corpse Aviator, pls. Good look at their gear, great Music video to talk about production and fx, and a killer track. i implore you to add it to the queue!
I already tried to post this on your last video, but somehow it seems RUclips lost my comment... Recently I stumbled upon a funny behind the scenes video from Saltatio Mortis on one of their latest concerts. I don't know how much you can get from the video since they are speaking german, but it was quite fun to watch their antics. The video is on Saltatio Mortis' channel and has the title "Ü40 Band sucht Personal Trainer | Saltatio Mortis". After your behind the scenes reaktion to Eskimo Callboy I thought you might find this interessting.
Hey Tank! Would you consider returning to Beast in Black some day? I think you would appreciate their new song & music video "Moonlight Rendezvous" (dark sci-fi/cyber punk universe theme) from their upcoming album "Dark Connection". Also, HBD to your dad!
From what you've said in other videos about the music taste of your dad and what you'd like to show him ... This was surprisingly heavy to come from him. :D Also, I'd like to join the list of random people on the internet who wish him happy birthday. :)
You hear them sing in Icelandic and you feel like grabbing an axe and raiding England. You hear people talk in Danish and you feel like grabbing your bags and moving to Iceland. ...no, I am not implying anything, why do you ask?
This is not really my thing although I can totally respect it musicly there is parts to this song that I like alot. Hey Tank ha e u heard of the symphonic black metal band from Italy 🇮🇹 called GRAVEWORM ? They are from nuclear blast records & they are brutal man & they have a girl in the band. Check out their song " Hateful Design " It is awesome & I think that u would like it alot.
Great video! But you HAVE TO check out one of their videos with the symphony orchestra. I strongly recommend „Hel“ or „Kvadning“. For me its the peak of epicness. Much better than Metallicas S&M! They have 3 (three!) choirs!
just put this in the search bar "Skálmöld & Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands - Kvaðning" if it fails to impress I swear to never recommend another song on any channel again.

You'd probably get a kick out of Solstafir, too. Ótta is the album I most heartily recommend.
Oh yes! My kind of music! All the best and a rocking birthday to your father man. Keep on being awesome both of you! 🤘
Happy Birthday to your Dad ,Tank.
All the best to you guys. Enjoy the day.
HBD Tankdad!

Next, anything from Audn:)
And the full concert with the orchestra is worth your time, used to play it at work continuously. And all killer albums, love them.

Great video! Heres another recommendation, curious if you've ever heard of them (at least i couldnt find anything on youtube):
Turmion Kätilöt
Would seriously love to see you react to Amon Amarth!!!!! My absolute favorite band!!! Skål!!!! Another kickass reaction video from you 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I've done one reaction before, and then the next two I tried got blocked. Hahaha

black metal deep purple! awesome job dude. have a great day!
If you're interested in more extreme Icelandic metal, I can wholeheartedly recommend "Ophidian I" and "Beneath".
I don´t know if it´s already on your radar, or you might already have filmed a reaction to it. If not, I would seriously recommend taking a look att Beast In Black ´s new "One night in tokyo".
would you maybe do a reaction video for "the Qemist - Run you"? I am very curious what you think of it :)
Happy Birthday for your dad btw :) :D

Can you check out the New Single from beast in Black. Title of the song is "One night in Tokio"
Combo. One less piece of equipment to lug around :)
Hey Tank!! You should check out a Canadian power metal band, BOREALIS!! 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Ah... Iceland, the country with the most metal bands in the world, PER CAPITA 🤣
Please react SALTATIO MORTIS - Hochzeitstanz
I couldn’t get into this one. Imo it sounds like a garage bands first practice.

I also saw that it could be translated as “Amongst Birds”, which to me makes sense in the context of the track list for the album.
