Thanks for sharing, Ted. We've heard similar things about those colors. Seems like we get more action on purple patterns during the winter especially. Trout vision is always an interesting topic.
Great looking fly and instruction. I really appreciate your suggestion on the application of uv resin as I still tend to try to battle it by applying it directly from its container. One question: most flies seem to apply a rib prior to the application of the resin. Do you apply the resin first specifically so that it is more prominent?
Nice nymph. The lighting is better on this video than it was on the original Darth; I can see the construction of it better. But one overwhelming conundrum: why purple? seems to be all the rage these days on trout flies, but what's the thinking behind the color purple?
I remember being introduced to the Purple Prince on the Roaring Fork a decade ago. It was absurd how well that fly worked and has continued to work. Purple flies and blue flies just work.
Beautiful tie, Greg!
nicely done greg
I have read that trout see purple/blue in the spectrum clearly at depth, for what it’s worth

It pops out a bit more on the outside of the resin and imitates segmentations a bit better that way.

Simple answer: Fish eat purple flies!
